Hey everyone, I’m in a bit of a tech dilemma and would love some input from the community. I realize this is a classic first-world problem, but I value your opinions!
Here’s the situation:

Here’s what I’m thinking: I’d love something lighter but still with a large screen. I’m considering trading in the M2 ($710), M1 ($850), and i7 ($275) to get a 15" M3 MacBook Air (maybe the 24GB RAM version).
However, I’m unsure if the standard M3 will be powerful enough for my needs. Should I instead:
  1. Go for a 14" MacBook Pro for more performance?
  2. Stick with the M2 MacBook Pro, which is practically new?
  3. Something else entirely?
I mostly use my MacBooks for productivity, light editing, and multitasking.
Would love to hear your thoughts—especially from anyone who’s been in a similar situation or has experience with the new M3 lineup.

2024.11.26 23:21 BedNo4299 "The data area passed to a system call is too small" error when I try to open images, the Spotify app, and when I first turn on the computer.

I found this but it didn't help.
The error that pops up when booting up my laptop is probably due to another affected app that tries to launch on startup, but I haven't managed to identify it yet. Spotify used to be the same, I just deleted the app back when I realised it was giving me the error on startup back then. Now it's something else.
I'm mainly annoyed by being unable to view my images.
Also, I have 294GB of free space on my drive so it's not an issue of having run out of storage.

2024.11.26 23:21 Accurate_Test_9993 Gratitude to Corsair for sending me a new case.

My problem simply was that the 3500x front glass panel shattered in my hands. I requested a replacement for that and they sent a new case. Now I have an extra side panel, case, filters etc just in case.
Also thank you to Corsairmars for sending me some combs.
I'm very grateful to Corsair and their customer service, but this makes me wonder, do they not have panels to send individually?
This may explain why the front and side glass panels for the 3500x are not available for sale as for the other cases.

Evolve has said shortfall in their deposits were “Transfer[s] to Synapse Brokerage.” What is known from the end user perspective is two fundamental agreements existed directly with the end user:

  1. The Deposit Agreement that purports to bind Evolve to the end user. It’s almost certain that Yotta did have signing authority for Evolve and Synapse. Evolve is bound under this agreement to pay withdrawals of deposits for an “Account” solely titled in 1 natural person (Section 2.6).
  2. The Brokerage Agreement binding Synapse Brokerage LLC to the end user for a Brokerage Account.
While some communications purported to switch all liabilities from Evolve to Synapse Brokerage in October 2023, the Brokerage Agreement allows the user to have a Deposit Account that’s primary to the Brokerage Account.
The statements from Synapse do not have clarity about how the Synapse balance was split between the Deposit Account and the Brokerage Account. The liabilities between these two exist regardless of internal agreements, system balances or transfers.
The Deposit Agreement does have two different liability limitation clauses. One is on Page 1, saying Evolve will follow instructions from Synapse Financial Technologies “on behalf of” the user. The second is the last sentence of Section 2.8, which essentially tries to disclaim any liability. This sentence conflicts with the earlier sentence saying Evolve is liable for banking services provided in this agreement.
In any case, Evolve has not disclaimed the Deposit Agreement but said all liabilities went to Synapse Brokerage. IF that is the case, then there are some big questions to answer. Here is the audited balance sheet for the brokerage as of 12/31/2023, after the supposed switch:

If Synapse Brokerage is liable for the entire balances, then Rule 15c3-3 requires the entire sweep program balance (or alternatively cash balance) to have equivalent deposits in accounts titled “FBO Synapse Brokerage LLC customers.” If the brokerage had $65 million+ in liabilities versus assets, then they were in violation of Rule 15c3-1 for minimum net capital.
The questions are:
  1. What internal books did the brokerage specifically have?
  2. What were the audit and financial reporting features that created the balance sheet and gave the auditor confidence for an unqualified opinion?
  3. Were “Transfers to Synapse Brokerage” from Evolve transfers to accounts correctly titled “FBO Synapse Brokerage LLC customers?” Did the transfers equal ALL of Evolve’s liabilities under the deposit agreement in October 2023? In other words, was the same transfer “used” for customers who got their money back?
  4. If the transfers were not to a properly titled account, how was that an instruction “on behalf of” the user?

In short, a narcissist parent got into an MLM and lost a lot of our money when I was a kid and our home was a like a market square with strangers in and out.
Later, as an adult, I was in a relationship with a narcissist who was heavily into Landmark Forum, aka est. So much so that even after I broke it off, he hand-wrote me a 6-page letter, front and back, wherein he insisted I take Lamdmark and that he'd pay for it.
I'm wondering, is there some sort of connection between narcissistic personality disorders and cultish orgs like MLMs and Landmark? It just seems like they are very much into being brainwashed and used, but they don't see it, and become gung ho about these orgs, encouraging others to be brainwashed and being used.
