Some of these don’t do shows all that often in general so they’re hard to catch, they don’t tour anywhere near my city, or they only play at larger festivals. Some of the ones near the top conflicted with other sets at festivals I’ve been to this year. If I see several of these on a festival lineup next year I’ll try to make it there. 2024.11.27 03:40 MiserableGazelle9418 Tired of always hearing why something can’t be done on time
I have had some challenges with a staff member and as a new manager I am seeking some advice. I have had some issues working with this team member as his manager but his work output is high quality so I was struggling to put my finger on what the root of my issue was. He has had issues meeting deadlines which I am providing coaching and performance management on. However, after a team meeting this week I had a realization about what my main challenge is. When I assign him a new project or task instead of just saying “I’ll start on that” he always pushes back on why he might not meet the deadline. His first instinct is always to push back and point out road blocks (with no real attempt to problem solve himself). I am very much a yes person to my leaders and I am happy to take projects away, get started and problem solve. I only go to my leaders when absolutely necessary. I just don’t see the same initiative or problem solving. Any advice on how can I address this with him directly for feedback? But I’m also looking for responses I can say during team meetings bc right now these conversations where we (I) are problem solving potential problems are starting to take away from the productivity of the meeting. Again I’m a new manager and I am also a young woman so any advice is really appreciated.

I'm shocked, I tell you. Gobsmacked, one could say. I always just assumed she was a Frances, maybe a Francesca.
There's just something about the same Stephanie that feels so unlike her, so modern, almost American. I have a feeling this could just be another example of the Tiffany Problem (another name that Fanny could be short for, I'm realising!), or maybe just one of my own idiosyncrasies. But still. Shocked.

Hi everyone,
I’m (21F) in a long-distance relationship (LDR) with my boyfriend (22M) of 8 months. We visit each other every couple of months for a few days, and while I love him, I feel like I’m putting more into the relationship than he is. I understand we’re in different stages of life, and he’s busy with his demanding career in investment banking, but some things have me confused, and I’m wondering if this is normal for others in LDRs.
- Communication: He calls me during his drive home from work but often mentions that it feels like a chore and that he’d prefer to listen to podcasts or YouTube. If I suggest fewer calls, he says he worries the “spark” will die, but he rarely initiates texting or calling on his own. Is it normal to feel like your partner isn’t as interested in talking as you are, especially since communication is all we have in an LDR?
- Reluctance to Close the Distance: I’m open to moving closer to him after 1.5 years of dating, but he thinks it’s too soon and worries that we might break up or he could lose feelings. For those of you who have been in LDRs, did you or your partner have similar fears? If you had the means to be with your partner, wouldn’t you want to take that step?
- Future Planning: He prefers to “go with the flow” and avoids conversations about where the relationship is heading. Is this hesitation to plan the future typical, or is it a red flag?
I’d appreciate any advice or insight from those who have been in similar situations.
