2024.11.27 04:30 BigSlowTarget I have the opportunity to get a license to make Star Trek merchandise but without characters and only the original series. How can I value the opportunity?

I've been struggling with valuation of this opportunity, terms of the deal, and more. I'd love any suggestions, benchmarks, comparable offers, good search terms, contacts, general advice etc.
By not characters I mean the license might allow legally writing and selling fiction about the rise and fall of the Federation, Klingon Empire, and Romulans but without referencing Star Trek characters. Entire alternate universes could be created. Alternate characters could be created. By just the original series I mean limited to the very earliest Trek in the era of Kirk/Spock. Fiction, games, merchandise, products, maybe even video games might be possible. Other stuff, possibly as well. I'm doubtful about actual video production as the battle over Axnar has made that a toxic minefield.
I realize one method of valuation is to forecast net cash flows and discount but any effort that way immediately hits "what are sales going to be?" The answer to that is "I don't know and there seems to be no way to find out." Any assumption drives everything else in any cash flow model which makes it garbage.

I (24F) was raised in a strict Christian household. My parents are now separated and I’m planning on spending thanksgiving with my dad. My dad, despite a lot of religious trauma growing up, is my absolute best friend who I know loves me unconditionally. However, I am extremely worried this is something that would change that.
I met a girl this summer which solidified what I have pretty much always known and have been seeing her for a while now. She is everything I’ve ever hoped for in a partner and someone I’m extremely sure about.
I’m asking for advice on how to tell him that I’m interested in women and have been dating one. For extra context, I have had boyfriends in my past who he has met so I think this information will be a complete shock to him. He does not agree with homosexuality whatsoever and finds it “disgusting”.
