Hi all, as the title states I'm feeling anxious that I might've got myself some malware so was looking for some reassurances or advice from those who know more than me.
I have a macbook. Last night I was trying to stream a sports game (on totalsportek for those familiar) and one of the pop up windows/ads automatically downloaded a "OperaSetup" Zip file. I immediately deleted this from my downloads without opening and cleared my trash bin. I have since downloaded and run the free version of Malwarebytes and every scan I've done has come up clear with no notifications.
I realize using streaming sites in the first place this is my own fault but is there anything else I should do or do you think I am possibly okay?
Thanks in advance and sorry I realize you probably get these all the time!

Background info:
I synthesised a molecule from reagents of masses 223 and 252. It was catalysed by DMAP (mass= 122).
I've been trying to isolate my product of mass 457 (esterification) via column chromatography for a month now, without much success (cannot separate non-esterified reagent). Yesterday, I used the Prep-HPLC and gave my molecules peak to the LCMS. I saw 3 peaks:
Polar peak with major mass of 122 (4% Rel. INT)
Polar peak of 115 (no idea what this is)
And the peak of my material, with 2 major M/Z values: 480 (M+Na, parent peak), and 579 (30% Rel. Int.)
I noticed how 579 = 457 + 122.
My Question Now Is:
Even after HPLC, could DMAP not have been separated, is it possible that DMAP somehow binds to my molecule? Obvious answer would be yes, but then I would expect a mass lower than the sum of my molecule + DMAP, as some atom should leave to for DMAP to bond. My molecule contains an ester, carboxylic acid and thioacetal groups.

So I've reached a solid 3*15 on Decline Inverted Rows, and I feel now that I need to move to a harder progression. I've read a bit about it on Reddit, Google and also the RR here, but I'm still not sure about what would be the next best progression/

What would you guys recommend? Is one of them better than the 2 others ? Should I just try these 3 different progressions and find one where I can do maybe 5 reps max then start again from here?

2024.11.27 09:49 PawnToG4 I tried to do a fresh install (delete then reinstall) of WSL2 for Windows 11, for some reason it never prompted me to create a Username and Password for my account, and when I tried to manually create another account with "useradd" and add it as default, WSL says that the directory doesn't exist

After following a tutorial suggesting that I:
* Unregister each of my current distros using "wsl --unregister
* Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & Features > uninstall distros that I see
So, I couldn't find Apps/Features as an option on my Windows 11, so instead I went to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps, then found the ... button for Ubuntu and I uninstalled it
I was under the impression that Windows didn't know that WSL was a thing anymore, so I tried installing it again in the terminal. But for some reason, even though Windows says it should, upon reinstalling then logging into my WSL account, WSL never prompted me to add a username and a password, instead immediately logging me in as root.
Using Google, I learnt that I could use wsl.config in order to set a default account, as well as useradd to add a new account/password. But, when I tried switching accounts, I just get this error:
Unable to setup logging. [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/home//.landscape'
Coupled with this at the bottom:
touch: cannot touch '/home//.motd_shown': No such file or directory
And then, in place of the root account, my terminal now says:
@:/mnt/c/Users/$
I can't remember if that part is normal or not, but I put it here in case it's an important clue. I didn't want to use Reddit. It's my secret weapon (and I have to wait for a response which is boring compared to just using Firefox/Chrome), but since I can't find the response using Google, I'll wait.
