Africa needs to stop using western development as a bar to chase in terms of development. We need our own measure of success, development, and failures.
Most importantly we need our independence because we haven't attained it yet. African nations can't trade certain commodities amongst themselves because of some "regulations" set by a developed nation X that doesn't care about us and the impact those regulations have on our economies. We get sunctioned if we don't stay within the regulations but who do they benefit?
Nigeria is capable producing steel for africa. Angola has oil and cheap fuel. DRC has hydropower generation potential to power Africa just to mention... Not limited to this... but X comes and still uses divide and conquer tactic. At the end of the day they still own us economically, socially and politically.

There was a video called Super remix from the best of the 80s (synthwave) by DreamWave Kingdom and it brought me so much peace. I would be having a terrible day and I would stick that baby on and all my worries would go away. But then without warning it was gone, along with all trace of DreamWave. Hi redditors, long story short is I had a friend (47F) who became my boss (I’m 10 years younger). We had a lot in common, became really close and then I worked for her. Within one month I saw she was insecure, had narc traits, was manipulative, condescending and operated via WhatsApp/text, instead of email. Our team of 85 have a difficult time knowing her expectations as her wishes change daily. I was her right hand and really adored her- despite her flaws, and she had moments where she gave me presents and told me how great my work was. But then she would criticize other projects I worked on and was jealous I had a family, often using my small kids as a way to keep me low. She seems lonely as she has no partner, children or friends in our city. Her arrogance made it difficult for anyone to give her feedback. I left the job after 3 years due to the impact on my mental health and I know she felt bad a bit towards the end and wanted to bring me closer to her, asking people why I distanced myself and was unengaged. She is a self-aware narc that isn’t completely on the deep end of the spectrum and part of me wants to stay friends with her even though she didn’t support my career. Am I crazy to think this is possible? I went no contact for 2 months but when I really left, part of me wanted to reconnect with her as a friend, to how we were before I worked with her.

Just finished Arcane S2 (highly recommended even if you've never played lol) and I couldn't help but think that a lot of the organic multicoloured growth associated with the side-effects of hextech/drawing from the arcane was very similar to RoN and the Traveler. The colours (white base + multicoloured accents) and general architecture definitely had me thinking back to the RoN and Verity.
Was curious if anyone else made this association or think that the art team took a bit of inspiration from Destiny.

2024.11.27 11:40 Afraid_Mistake5529 I decided to be as active as possible and now I'm just flabbergasted at how much I've let myself go in terms of fitness
To put things into perspective I used to be someone who would walk 15k steps on average everyday before 10k steps a day was even seen as a workout. When I had to go to school I would for example walk instead of taking the bus. My extracurriculars were not at school so I would walk again another 40-60 min. It was just something that helped me de-stress in-between activities. Then when COVID happened in 2020 I was in my last year in high school and I just stopped moving. The first 3 years it didn't affect my weight at all so I didn't think about it at all. Then last year I got into lifting and instead of losing weight, I put on a few pounds. Now that I'm trying to lose them, I find it hard. I couldn't understand how I wasn't losing weight when I was eating basically the same as I was when I lost weight in highschool. When it turns out I just wasn't walking as much. I live in a bigger city now and the subway station is right next to where I live. No more walks for me. Last week I decided to look up my health app and I was moving 3 k steps on average?? I couldn't believe it. So I stepped up my game and dedicated an hour and a half for walks to hit at least 10k steps. Well yesterday I had a more active day and reached 15 k. And damn but today my legs are sore as if I had a leg workout. And 15 k used to be my average step count just a few years back. Don't underestimate walking. It really is a workout in itself.
My goal is to walk 10 k everyday until Christmas and see if there will be any visible results.

So I got my ESAT and TMUA results. I achieved IB 39 with 777 (Maths AA, Phys, CS) HL in 2023 summer, so I don't meet the minimum requirement for Physics, but I did provide some contextual information to the uni.
For ESAT, I got M1 5.4, M2 6.8 PH 5.2. Any hope for Phys with Theoretical Physics? I got 7.5 For TMUA, and would that be safe for Imperial Maths?
Also, I'm dying for the shortlist result from Oxford. I applied for Phys Phil. I live in East Asia, and I can't sleep because of this HELPPPP
