I work for this really old school company. We have compensation ranges for a variety of positions.
However, these quoted "salaries" have RRSP and benefits included. For example, if someone was making 40k base, the salary is quoted as 47k. So they advertise it as 47k / year on Indeed, etc.
Is this an old school / slimey tactic to hide what your take home actually is? or is it normal?
I'm starting to apply to new jobs so I want to have proper expectations. Thanks!

As far as I can tell it's either: - the temp is too low at 200 for the standard PLA. Maybe I should try 215? - something with slicing the file. I've heard that Lychee Slicer is bad for filament; I've been using it just because I subscribed to Pro to use with resin. Hey, so I’m an avid gym lifter (pics in my profile if you think I’m cappin’) and I wanted to know if you had a boyfriend who lifted weights, would it be a positive if on the first date or the first few dates you went to the gym together and he taught you how to lift weights and get buff? Lifting weights has benefits for women because the more muscle mass you put on, the faster your metabolism becomes and the more fat you burn while resting. Is that a good idea or a good pitch?

The last 2 episodes haven't appeared in the PenPals feed from patreon. I'm not using spotify so I use the "Listen on other podcast apps" option.
The last episode that appears in the feed is RE: Conversation Stoppers. I sent a message to whoever doesn't read the patreon messages, so that didn't help.
Is anyone else noticing this problem with the feed?

Here’s the grand idea: I designed the new architecture as a junior. That's allright. They bumped me to mid because NoW i Am DeSiGniNg sTufF (I did it before for features and under surveillance, but this was a bigger project and little surveillance, so yay), but offered otherwise, zero help. I’ve poured so. many. hours into this. Guess what? It’s going nowhere.

📝 No documentation. I literally had to sort through two kilos of scrap paper to find possible prints. I did. But-
🐢 Slow, unreachable SMEs. "This company wants to work with us!" - Maybe. Suppose a girl wanted to date you. Maybe she said so. But she doesn't reply to your texts. Surely, this is normal.
🧪 End-to-end tests that don’t affect timelines. Test driven development. Without. Test cases.
📆 Should’ve been done yesterday. (It's been a year.)
👤 Team size: just me. You can also have this guy. Yes, it will take him three months to build a not-even-rest-API that could have been generated with Claude in like 5 days and then. We'll fire him soon anyway.

I’ve spent two years living for work (and trying to make a long-distance relationship a short-distance one), and yet today I learned I’m supposed to version my libraries for production tracking, like it's an obvious thing I should have known since I exited the uterus.
However, since my birth certificate did not come with a copy of Designing Data Intensive Applications, I suffer.

I’m about to invest in my first real camera - Canon EOS R50, and I’m making a Christmas list of accessories for it.
I want a camera bag, but I want one that is relatively stylish (I’m 21 F), and not too big. Ideally in the $30-50 range. I’ve been looking on Amazon (Canada) and haven’t found one that I like. Does anyone have any recommendations? If it’s not at least somewhat cute I know I won’t use it too much lol.
It would also be an added bonus if it has a strap to go over my shoulder but also not too big so I can throw the entire case in a backpack if I want. I wear a lot of cream/white colours so I’d like one that would match.

2024.11.27 17:30 talkpurdytome Anyone else’s doxie randomly develop pancreatitis at a young age?
 | The other day our 4.5 yo mini doxie randomly started gagging/throwing up white foam non-stop for over an hour, and has had it happen again once every day since. She’s a very picky eater and refuses to eat some days so we thought it was because she was hungry or had reflux, but a couple of vet trips later and we now realize it’s probably pancreatitis (just waiting on blood work to confirm). The vet said that it usually only happens to older dogs and was strange since she’s still relatively young. Has anyone else had this happen before? Is there any hope that this will go away?
