 | Disclaimer: I am the creator of superlang.com, so this is self promotion. But I hope that this is a genuinely useful tool, and I'm interested in feedback on how effective people think it is. A year ago I discovered the concept of "comprehensible input" as a way to help me learn German. Even if it's not a silver bullet, it sounded pretty great. Rather than drilling vocab or looking at grammar charts, I could "just read" and acquire the language. I picked up some fairy tales in German, and stories like Alice in Wonderland. Unfortunately, I couldn't really read them. I had to stop every sentence to look up words and try and decipher sentence constructions. Then I turned to some purpose built graded readers for German beginners. But there was a different problem... these were not really stories with any real plot. I could only read so many "Hans goes to the market" type stories before losing interest. My idea was to try to get the best of both worlds somehow. What if I could take a real story, say Alice in Wonderland (or even War and Peace), and dial the difficulty down to my level without losing the plotline. That way, beginners can start right away with something basically comprehensible. Then, you could also re-read the same story at increasing difficulty levels as you gain confidence. As a cherry on top, more illustrations would help with comprehension so each page could have a picture. I spent a year building Superlang and it is ready to put out there. I think this is the right community to get some real input on the idea from. Some quick notes:

I’m really on the fence about picking up this set. The scene is iconic, the mini-figures are solid, and it’s technically a limited edition since LEGO is wrapping up production. But $100 feels pretty steep for 802 pieces, and I’m not sure if it’s just FOMO making me want it. Do you think I’ll regret not grabbing it, or should I save my money for something else?
This set was very controversial during its release but now it’s near the end of its production time. With very few lingering around online.

Hello everybody. I have been working on my own system and at this point I would be very glad for some feedback from the community.
Here are some stand out features to help you decide if you want to invest the time reading the (not small) document.
The system is played without tracking any numbers or doing any math.
It is playable anywhere spontaneously with no prep and nothing but some willing participants, a randomizer and optionally some notetaking implements.
It is, as the name says, strongly leaning freeform, but I have developed some systems that (hopefully) still give the gamey feel that more mechanical systems provide.
I might have gone overboard explaining the concepts but I wanted to be as accurate as I could. The ideas really are quite simple and easy to remember.
I am glad for all forms of feedback, be it structural, mechanical or about the language of the document. It is in my eyes almost feature complete and if there is positive resonance ill be looking for play testers within the near future.
I have posted about it in gmless before. It has however developed quite a bit since then and I also chose to refocus on a traditional GM and player setup for the system.
I will continue work on it making a GMless variant as well, but I don't think gmless is the right place for it currently. Just in case you find it familiar.

2024.11.27 18:43 Mahero_Kun Even when I isolate myself from the world, people still find ways to give me spoilers, and I'm tired
There's a serie that I love who finally got a new season recently. The issue is, I was never able to actually start it, only half of the first episode. It looks absolutely incredible, all my friends love it and I've been dying to try it out too ! But I'm so at rock bottom right now that just reading few lines of my favorite wholesome story overwhelm me and I end up having a panic attack. I cannot watch any new media in an enjoyable way, no matter how much I crave it.
I completely deleted social medias, because I'm tired of being pressured into catching up with so many series and animes, I can barely keep myself alive already. I'm literally at a mental hospital right now. When my dad visits me, he often reads me some news he found while scrolling on social media, usually on topics he knows I'm interested in. He heard me talk about this serie once, forgot that I talked about it as wanting to start it, and decided to read me some news about how a specific scene caused a scandal in some countries, giving me all the details and everything.
I forgot how much it hurts that someone you trust just throw some important plotpoint in your face, and all you can do is forgive them and move on. I don't want to this time, I'm doing so much efforts to allow me to enjoy some medias spoiler free, and I'm not allowed to be mad at people who don't ask first if I already watched it before giving me spoilers ? I know my brain, it will store spoilers for life, the longest one it ever kept was a Walking Dead spoiler I overheard when I was a child, and I remembered it 8 years later as soon as I heard the name of the character who dies. Any spoiler is burnt in my mind forever and it completely ruins a part of the enjoyment for me. I already can't feel any pleasure or happiness in anything anymore, and it somehow keeps getting worse because people don't make any effort to be mindful of other potential viewers. I just want to enjoy a serie/anime for once in my life without knowing in advance what's going to happen, I just end up constantly waiting for the scene to come up instead of enjoying the show, and I can't help it because someone broke my system !
