Recently I have been feeling paranoid cuz my friend keeps telling me that everyone in class are fake and like to talk shit about me but then I don’t even interact with anyone in class. Only made this friend because she approached me then we started talking and became friends but i keep having mixed feelings about her sometimes she keeps talking bad about people and sometimes she overly nice to me.
I became comfortable with her and over shared to her but I had a feeling she was secretly judging me and talking behind my back. Turns out I was right and she had been forwarding my rants and screenshots my texts when I was at my lowest to talk shit about me with her other friends which she told me she hates and that they are fake friends I shouldn’t hang out with. I’m so stressed out about it because I don’t know how to leave her 😔😔 I had nobody to talk to then I asked my teacher for advice because she said I could talk to her if anything but I’m so stupid and dumb and worst I got ghosted by her🤡🤡 I probably got snitched on cuz I got sent TikToks by my friend with texts “imagine talking shit about ur friends but continuing to hang out with them cuz u lonely”
Idek what to do I keep trying to forget about it since I’m also nothing better.

2024.11.27 20:48 Vegetable-River-6101 BBC Commentators stealing a living
John Parrott just said in commentary he hasn't seen much of Wu Yize. He was rookie of the year in 2022 and runner up in the British Open this year and has reached the final stages of multiple other tournaments. This has happened in quite a few tournaments in recent years on the BBC where a 'relative' newcomer seems to be a surprise to one of the expert commentators (always Parrott and sometimes Davis).
I strongly suspect that these guys watch absolutely no snooker outside the 3 tournaments covered by the BBC. It is insulting that people being paid de facto public money are so ill informed about the current game. I couldn't imagine any other sport where this would be the case. Could you imagine a tennis commentator admitting to not having seen much of the current world number 29 before? (12th on the one year list) This is not an obscure player. It's genuinely laughable.
Compare this to the Eurosport coverage where McManus and Foulds have incredible knowledge about all the current players. I accept that they work full time on most of the events and that will naturally lead to more familiarity but surely if you are being paid as an expert it is incumbent on you to at least keep some sort of track of the 20 odd events you are not present at. It may lead to more insightful punditry rather than just coasting off the back of titles won over 30 years ago.

Hi! I have had my pedals for 4 months now and I am starting to get serious about sim racing. I joined a racing academy and I am working towards a my pro license everyday!
In my last academy sessions my coach noticed that I always have my gas pedal at 1%-5% under braking. So, we determined that it's due to my gas pedal being too light and when I barely rest my foot on it, its causes 1%-5% input.
I have tried to figure out how to make the pedal stiffer, but I can't. I tried lowing the "Piston?" to the upper and lower hole on the pedal, but that didn't do anything. I have also tried turning the big silver nut at the top of the spring, but it wont turn at all. It also looks like it is welded or epoxied in place. There is threads on it, so I though it was weird that it wouldn't turn. I have also tried putting spacers in with the spring, but then the pedal bottoms out too early and doesn't feel right.
Has anyone had success with stiffening the gas pedal?

2024.11.27 20:48 Additional-Ad5116 how cooked am i regarding internships/spring weeks as a first year CS student?
Hello. First year CS student at UCL here.
I have only just started properly applying. About a month ago I applied to Palantir and did their hackerrank assessment - got cooked and had to skip one of three questions as I had absolutely no idea what rest API is or how to use it. (I did OCR CS @ A level so we did not learn it). After that, I applied to Deutsche Bank and did their weird behavioural assessment questions (3 options and choose the sentence that suits you best). Long story short rejection, they didn't even have a technical thing to do like Palantir did.
Ive applied to some other spring weeks that are listed on bristol tracker, but there arent that many there, and like half of the ones listed havent even opened (despite the last year opening being a month ago), and I am not sure if they will open at all. In other words, I only have a few spring week opportunities to apply for, and I have already flopped 2. Some of them are not in London, so I wouldnt be able to do them (I dont think I can commute 4 hours each way to Chester for bank of america's spring week)...
Onto internships, most of these need penultimate year students. I have applied to those that dont strictly require them though I doubt ill get any responses since I am only a first year with no work experience.
Some of my peers already have work experience etc... I have got nothing
Will I be able to get an internship during second year given that this year might be a flop? Im sure my grades will be good. I will be aiming for 85%+ for this year at minimum, and I am confident I can attain that based on the courseworks and stuff we've done so far. But it seems like most companies dont even ask for a grade transcript.
My end goal is to work at Nvidia. I saw that their compiler internship wanted "strong c++" skills so I was thinking of working on some sort of c++ related project leading up to second year so I can have that on my CV, but I am not sure if that would be enough. I am really distressed about potentially not getting any work experience in the form of spring weeks etc this year, as most people seem to emphasise their importance.
Chat am I cooked?
