2024.11.28 02:37 Worried-Aerie-2421 AITAH for telling kids why I don't believe in Jesus
AITAH I told folks at my door why I don't believe in Jesus and they brought kids.
So. To start off, I've been warding off Christian religious members who come to my door for years. It's always, "no thank you", or I pretend not to be home. I even have signs on my door that literally say, "I don't believe in a deity".
I promised myself if they knocked again and pushed a flyer in my face I would say something.
Well it happened. A grandma with two kids who looked about aged 10 and 6 (didn't register it until afterwards that there were kids there) and two parents who stayed by my mailbox knocked.
The grandma started to present her case about Jesus.
I stopped her. This is what I said verbatim:
"Mam, you are allowed to have whatever belief gives you comfort. As far as I know, you believe Jesus is your Father. And I believe in fathers that care and encourage and love their children. Your father is gone, look around. Either he's lost or he abandoned you. Even if he's real, I have no respect for a father who abandons his children. So believe, that's fine. But I don't respect Jesus. He's a terrible father, and I won't idolize someone who neglects their children".
The grandmother gasped and took a step back and at the same time kinda pushed the children back.
The kids honestly looked confused and resigned. I don't think they took my message to heart.
The thing is it isn't my right to influence other's beliefs. And I feel bad that those kids had to hear my annoyance.
So am I the asshole. Perhaps I should have just left it alone.
As an aside, and I don't know if it's related I had food (instacart) and Amazon deliveries disappear off my front porch for about two months after this incident.

I purchased a certified pre owned Hyundai 23 Kona with 25k miles. I found it on autonation.com and picked it up at the mini cooper dealership. I’ve heard the Hyundais have 60k 5 year warranty for certified pre owned vehicles. Does that mean I’d need to buy it at a Hyundai dealer or could I purchase at another dealer. Reason is because I purchased an easy care extended warranty which I’d return if the Hyundai warranty is good to 60k miles

This morning at 05:15 UTC Justine Mettraux, skipper of the IMOCA TeamWork Team Snef, informed Race Management and her team of the loss of her J0. Her big headsail tore in an incident unrelated to the repairs carried out the day before. The sail is now unusable. Fortunately the Swiss skipper was able to bring the sail, halyard and sheets back on board, without any additional damage to the structure or the appendages of the boat. I needed a lightweight laptop with good specs and bought a Fujitsu Lifebook U laptop with good specs for cheap at Hardoff in Akhibara. I got this recommendation in my previous post. Now I'm looking forward to buying again some stuff on my next trip to Tokyo, what else is out there aside from Hardoff for quality electronics for cheap. Ideally with old Blackberries to add to my collection.
