Hey everyone. I've recently migrated my 11-year-old domain to a new domain name. Here's a summary of what I've done so far before you ask:
- 301 Redirects: All URLs were properly redirected via 301 to the corresponding pages on the new domain.
- Google Search Console Updates: The domain change was registered, and all necessary migration actions were completed.
- Sitemaps Submitted: New sitemaps for the updated domain structure were submitted to Google.
- Backlink Profile: I started updating my backlinks to reflect the new domain.
In the last 7 days, my old domain (which was fully redirected) has started receiving 546K clicks, while the new domain has only received 31K clicks. Initially, the old domain showed zero traffic (as expected after the migration). Still, it has suddenly become visible again in Google search and outperforms the new domain by over 500K clicks.
This unexpected behavior has me very concerned and confused about what might be causing it.
So here are the things that I'm wondering. If you can help me, that'd be very nice!
- Why is the old domain receiving so much traffic despite the 301 redirects? Is this normal?
- Could this be due to an issue with how Google processes the migration?
- How can I fix this and ensure traffic is correctly transferred to the new domain?
- Are there additional steps I should take to prevent the old domain from ranking again?

Just give you guys a bit of context, I am Mariam, I am 24 years old and I was born and raised in London. Alhamdullilah I had a great life as a child and never experienced any severe hardships through the sacrifice of my mother (May Allah reward her for everything she has done. I was a typical teenager, rebelling, in with the wrong crowd, however Allah had blessed me with wit and intelligence so I never really went of the deep end. At the age of 21 I tried weed, and fast forward 3 years I am battling addiction. I have been in denial for so long that this is the first time I’m even admitting this. I am an addict. But not one person in my life knows this, only Allah. It breaks my heart because my parents are proud of me, Alhamdullilah I work a good job, I help them with money if they ever need it, I have completely stopped going out and partying, my life is work and home- probably the happiest they have been for me as I seem “Mature” now, but I’m battling something so severe right now. I never really had Allah in my heart, but when I was 23 that all changed. I went through a period of isolation, where I was battling my own demons because I just felt stuck in life, it was really hard and I have no other way to explain this other than I felt Allah with me so closely during that whole process. I would speak to him so much that I would catch myself joking with him at times. Ever since then I have always been mindful of Allah. It is because I am mindful of Allah, that I have an immense sense of guilt because I know this addiction is displeasing to Allah swt. He has given me a great family, a good job, beauty, intelligence, humour and this is how I thank him. I have been in auto pilot for so long and I don’t want to disappoint my lord any longer. So deeply in my heart I want to turn to Allah, I love him, so so much. Only now I see certain situations in my life, and have realised Allah was protecting me. I have failed him, I have failed myself and I have failed my parents. Keep me in your duas please. Until then. Mariam.

For me, as an irregular student, I feel sorry to the OP because he/she has the luxury na being a regular student and guaranteed to graduate on time.

Does anyone else get the vibes that homigrad inhabits the core principles of the fun of TTT? its so hard to actually have a fun game without friends nowadays cuz ppl are so strict towards the rules, which is fine I suppose rules are needed for a fun environment but I don't know, Homigrad guilt system bans rdmers quickly without need of an admin. Really feels like its TTT+ sometimes when no one complains about dying randomly. Anyone else feel this way? I'm not trying to advertise anything, and if you play GMOD, you have seen Homigrad rising on the listings already, so I doubt I need to tell anyone who cares. I just personally have started comparing it to TTT and wondering if anyone else has made these comparisons.

Ako lang ba na parang tingin ko nilolookdown ng mga state univ ang mga public colleges? Public college ako nag aaral ngayon kasi yun ang pinakamalapit, we don't have the financial capacity to enroll sa top univs kasi ang lalayo, ang mahal ng commute.
I think nilolook down ang public college kasi ika nga daw nila, "bagsakan ng mga di nakapasa sa state univ" or "college ng mga 8080". Aminado naman ako na hindi nagtotop ang college namin at declining talaga ang quality of education kase minsan lang napasok ang mga profs.
Pero still, thankful parin ako na sa public college ako nagenroll kasi aside sa di siya mabigat financially since free tuition, affiliated rin kami sa tesda. We're offered tesda courses na may kaakibat na allowance na natatanggap at the end sa tinetake naming tesda course. Mostly mga NCII courses tinetake namin with free assessments na pag nakapasa, licensed na kami on that specific skill. Which is great kasi plus points talaga pag nag apply na ng work.
