Ik heb een carriĂšre van 24 jaar te grabbel gegooid. In een onbewaakt moment waarin ik als vader mijn best wou doen voor mijn kind.” De afdelingsprocureur van het parket van Ieper vertelt het donderdagmiddag in tranen in de tuchtrechtbank. Hij heeft net gehoord dat het openbaar ministerie - zijn openbaar ministerie - zijn ontslag vraagt. De reden: hij heeft Ă©Ă©n van de vragen voor het magistratenexamen aan zijn dochter doorgespeeld.
J.L. staat al 24 jaar in toga achter de balie vooraan in de rechtbank. Hij schopte het een viertal jaar geleden tot afdelingsprocureur - chef, zeg maar - bij het parket van Ieper. Maar donderdagmiddag - in de tuchtrechtbank van Gent - zit hij aan de andere kant. In zijn gewone kledij, achter hem zijn advocaat. Hij schaamt zich duidelijk omdat de rollen omgedraaid zijn. Hij is plots zelf degene die iets heeft mispeuterd en een straf riskeert. Hij buigt zijn hoofd en luistert aandachtig.
  • Examenfraude
Alles draait over het magistratenexamen begin januari dit jaar. Minstens twee kandidaten zouden die - zo blijkt uit onderzoek - met voorkennis ingevuld hebben. EĂ©n van die kandidaten is de dochter van J.L. Zij is dan nog advocaat, maar wil in de voetsporen van haar vader treden en een plekje binnen de magistratuur - rechter of procureur bijvoorbeeld - bemachtigen. En dus moet ze door die moeilijke examens geraken.
Enkele dagen voor het examen ‘Verbintenissenrecht’ krijgt haar vader een telefoontje van een oude vriend: C.B. Die is zelf advocaat-generaal - een zeer hoge functie binnen justitie dus - en zetelt ook in de Hoge Raad voor Justitie. Daardoor kent hij Ă©Ă©n van de vragen die de kandidaten voorgeschoteld zullen krijgen. Komt daar nog eens bij dat de dochter van C.B. ook bij het parket van
 Ieper werkt. Dus onder afdelingsprocureur J.L. Volgt u nog?
  • Zieke hond
“U heeft heel goed voor mijn dochter gezorgd daar, bij het parket van Ieper”, zegt advocaat-generaal C.B. aan de telefoon. “In ruil daarvoor wil ik de jouwe ook wel helpen. Op het examen ‘Verbintenissenrecht’ zal de casus gaan over een gekochte hond die ziek wordt en een dure operatie nodig heeft.”
J.L. hangt naar eigen zeggen verbaasd op. “Ik had hem wel gevraagd of hij een goed woordje voor haar kon doen bij de deliberaties. En dat hij wat tips en tricks zou doorspelen. Maar ik heb nooit naar vragen gevraagd. Die kreeg ik plots in mijn schoot geworpen. Dat had ik nooit nooit nooit verwacht”, zegt hij. Maar als zijn dochter een dag later op bezoek komt om haar verjaardag te vieren vertelt hij haar wel over het telefoontje. Lees: hij speelt haar de vraag door. Enkele dagen later gaat het examen door en er gaan uiteindelijk maanden over voor de hele zaak aan het licht komt.
  • “Leven met die leugen was onhoudbaar”
Op een zondag eind maart stuurt de Hoge Raad voor Justitie zelf een persbericht de wereld in. Daarin spreken ze over fraude bij het magistratenexamen. De eerste signalen wijzen naar Y.S., de afdelingsprocureur van het Brugse parket, en zijn vrouw E.W., rechter in Ieper. Ook hun zoon zou namelijk vragen doorgekregen hebben van C.B. Het waren zijn patrons - de advocaten die hem opleidden - die dat ontdekten toen ze zijn zoekgeschiedenis op de kantoorlaptop zagen. Dat ging exact over Ă©Ă©n van de vragen op het examen. Dat geeft de jongeman, zelf advocaat, ook snel toe.
Fraude binnen de hoogste rangen. De spreekwoordelijke bom binnen de gerechtelijke wereld barst die avond. Ook ten huize L., want daar komt de dochter meteen langs. Een dag later stapt afdelingsprocureur J.L. naar zijn overste en biecht alles op. “Leven met die leugen was onhoudbaar. Dus ik wou open kaart spelen”, zegt hij. “Ook om mijn dochter te beschermen, want haar carriùre als advocaat stond ook op het spel.”
Zijn overste beslist om J.L. te schorsen, dat is hij nog steeds. Het onderzoek toont aan dat hij geen strafbare feiten heeft gepleegd, maar hij moest donderdagmorgen dus wel voor de tuchtrechtbank verschijnen. En daar vroeg het openbaar ministerie om hem te ontslaan. “Toen hij dat telefoontje kreeg, wist hij wat hij moest doen: afsluiten en een proces-verbaal opstellen”, zegt de procureur-generaal in de rechtbank. “Maar dat heeft hij niet gedaan. Hij heeft de verkeerde keuze gemaakt.”
  • Ontslag
En dus ziet het openbaar ministerie niet meteen een andere optie dan een ontslag. “Het openbaar ministerie moet objectief, eerlijk en integer zijn. Dat ligt nu een beetje moeilijk, want we weten wat er gaat gebeuren, hĂ©. Elke advocaat zal dit aangrijpen in de rechtbank. En als meneer L. niet meer in een rechtszaal kan werken, maar enkel nog in de krochten om een en ander op papier te zetten
 Tja, dan wordt hij een heel duur betaalde jurist.”
De advocaat van J.L. wees er op dat de tuchtprocedure al negen maanden duurt, behoorlijk lang voor zo’n kwestie. Hij vroeg om daar bij de bestraffing rekening mee te houden, net zoals met het feit dat de zaak al uitgebreid in de media kwam. “Zelfs de minister van Justitie kwam zich moeien toen bleek dat meneer L. een ereteken kreeg. Iets waar hij - voor alle duidelijkheid - niet zelf om had gevraagd. Ze hebben hem op de straatstenen gesmeten. Maar zijn ex-collega’s nog niet. Hij gaat nog steeds naar babyborrels of pensioenvieringen. Ze willen hem daar terug.”
  • "Niet correct"
Het laatste woord was voor J.L. zelf. Hij sprak als procureur Ă©n als vader. Hij startte met een stevige stem, maar barstte al snel in tranen uit. “Ik heb mijn werk altijd correct uitgevoerd. Me altijd keihard ingezet voor het parket Ieper. Keihard ingezet. Die schorsing was een kaakslag. Ik mag van geluk spreken dat ik de steun van mijn vrouw en kinderen had.” Achter hem in de zaal zoeken zijn vrouw en Ă©Ă©n van zijn dochters troost bij elkaar. “Het gaat hier nu de hele tijd over dat ene feit. Maar over die 25 jaren ervoor? Zo goed als niets. Dat vind ik niet correct.” Uitspraak op 9 januari.
  • Ieperse rechter E.W. ook voor tuchtrechtbank: “Maar het eerste bewijs is onwettig verkregen”
Niet alleen J.L. verscheen donderdagmiddag voor de tuchtrechtbank. Nadien was het de beurt aan E.W., zij is rechter in Ieper. Haar zoon gaf toe dat hij Ă©Ă©n van de examens met voorkennis had gemaakt. Ook hij had een casus gekregen via C.B. Zowel E.W. als haar man Y.S., afdelingsprocureur bij het parket van Brugge, worden verdacht van daar ook hun rol in te hebben gespeeld.
Maar de tuchtzaak tegen E.W. werd onmiddellijk uitgesteld. De reden: zij en haar man hebben zélf een klacht ingediend tegen de twee advocaten bij wie hun zoon als stagiair-advocaat werkte. Zij ontdekten namelijk op via zijn profiel dat hij verdachte opzoekingen had gedaan in aanloop naar het magistraten examen. Zij stapten dan ook met hun vermoedens naar de Hoge Raad voor Justitie en bonden zo de kat de bel aan.
  • Hacking
“Maar wij hebben nu een klacht ingediend wegens hacking”, zei haar advocaat in de rechtbank. “Dat is het initiĂ«le bewijs en dat is volgens ons dus op een onwettige manier bekomen. Dat bewijs komt voort uit een misdrijf. We willen dan ook eerst dat onderzoek afwachten voor de zaak voor een tuchtrechtbank behandeld wordt.” De voorzitter stelde de zaak uit naar 21 maart.

Hello and TIA for anyone reading. Needed to get some feelings off my chest and also see if anyone can give any advice.
Background: I'm 37 y/o female with no kids. Never been interested in kids/babies and never dreamed of having them. I have a job I love and want to progress further in, love my independence, love travelling and spend several weeks a year volunteering abroad. I have a wonderful boyfriend and we're happy.
Lately I've just found myself constantly thinking about whether I should have a child to the extent it's driving me crazy. I know it's definitely been triggered by lots of people around me having babies. I just feel like if everyone else is doing this, am I missing out on what could be the most rewarding thing ever (as I keep reading), have I missed the memo? Honestly if most of my friends were child free, I don't think I'd be thinking about it. My boyfriend is also undecided but thinks probably doesn't want them, so there is no pressure from him, or my own parents or friends I might add. Is this just FOMO?
If I had to give up lots of my current life eg travelling & volunteering I think I would be depressed, but then I see stories about families who still do all of these things, so it doesn't seem like it has to be 1 or the other.
Please tell me if I sound ridiculous or stupid as currently I just feel frozen in fear! Is this just a phase? Has anyone been through this?

For context, i’m getting the Kyleena IUD 1 week from today. I was on the combination pill (Hailey Fe) for 3 1/2 years and i was recently forced to stop by my gynecologist due to migraine with aura and increased risk of stroke? Anyways, i have always been BEYOND against any other form of birth control besides the pill due to me always knowing that if i took it at the same exact time each day, there was no way i’d get pregnant without condoms. However, with the IUD, there’s a chance it can shift and you not know and before you know it you’re pregnant. How likely is it that this is going to happen? Will i know if it moves? I understand i can check the strings to see if they’re still in the same place, however, most women on here claim they’ve never been able to feel their strings to begin with. My only reason for being on birth control is to 100% prevent pregnancy without needing to use condoms. Am i going to have to use condoms anyway with an IUD due to the risk of it moving out of place? Both my partner and I find condoms very much so NOT enjoyable and i’ve really loved these last 3 1/2 years of not needing to use them.
