looking for a new idle game. ive been playing idle kingdom defense for years now and im just bored of it.
my favorite things about it are that it's landscape and has a screensaver feature. been really difficult to find something similar.
i also play summoner's greed and invincible guarding the globe but i keep my tablet docked with idle kingdom defense going pretty much all of the time

Hi, just hopping in here for a minute, hoping for some help.
I haven't had a new pc in a decade, and I finally decided to get a new one on black Friday sale.
I'm getting a 4080 super, 64gb ddr5 6000 ram, Ryzen 7800x3d.
I'm currently sitting on my old monitors, old 1920x1080 ones, nothing super special.
What I'm wondering, as this is capable of 4k as well as 1440p, what monitors do you think I should go for?
4k, 1440p normal, 1440 ultra wide, stick with my current monitors?
I'm stumped, I've heard if 4k monitor is too small it's barely better than 1440, so I'm hoping to get some advice from you all

2024.11.28 19:40 Affectionate-Web1210 AIO I ended 1-year ‘situationship’ day before Thanksgiving with man at end of his divorce

Trying to make a long story short. I (F38) have been seeing a man (51) for just over a year. We started last October. I was miserable and dating someone who had been cheating and ghosting me. He was miserable and at the beginning of a divorce (he was cheated on, too). We hit it off from the start like best friends (with benefits). He was very honest that he wasn’t ready for anything serious as his 20-year relationship was freshly over (half of that timespan was his marriage).
The man and I started as friends with benefits/situationship. Of course, feelings grew. We literally never fight. We are both introverts and love hanging out at home, laughing and joking and eating.
For context, I live on a small island. He is my boss’s best friend. I never really knew him, but his two young girls have always been around my work and have loved me for years.
This spring, he started having me over when his two girls were there for dinners and movies. Their love for me and my love for them has really grown. He’s said I love you and I’ve said to him.
But, he still refers to me as his friend, his situationship, and he still says he doesn’t want labels. He has said once or twice that he is afraid of love and opening up again.
More context: his divorce is final in a few weeks. He is also dealing with a lot of stress as his mom and veteran brother just lost their housing. And one of his best friends died suddenly a few weeks ago. So, he’s dealing with every emotion. I’ve been there supporting him every step.
A week before Thanksgiving, he asked me to join him and his two kids at a friend’s house for Thanksgiving dinner. He made a “joke” to me that he wants his friends to meet his friend (me). He also asked me the other night how much longer I can do a situationship. It was my tipping point. After a long talk with him, he still said he doesn’t want labels or anything official, so I broke it off with him yesterday. He seems shocked and said he was building something good with me. Yet he also says he wants to keep it casual as he wants to be 100% sure who is next partner is. I held my ground and said I can’t keep waiting for a man I love to commit or call me his girlfriend. Am I overreacting and not fully seeing his wounded POV? Or is he using me to fill in some emotional/sexual void and is waiting for something better ?

2024.11.28 19:40 theoxiam LG OTR Microwave: Extendavent vs. Convection & Air Fry

I’m purchasing a new fridge and given the Black Friday bundle deals and the state of my microwave (see picture) I’m going to purchase a new OTR microwave at the same time.
I already ordered the LG Extendavent Microwave but now I’m doubting my choice. Delivery isn’t until 12/6 so I have time to change…
My logic was that the 400CFM vent and the extended vent hood under the microwave is a nice feature, but LG sells the same microwave with Convection and Air Fry with just marginal difference in price. Am I crazy to consider exchanging it? $100 is a small price difference… especially if it’s gonna leave me wanting to purchase a separate small oven and/or air drier.
In contrast, the Convection and Air fry has no extending vent (which might actually look cleaner when installed - last hanging below the cabinets?) and it’s only 300CFM instead of 400CFM.
I do not currently own a separate air fryer or small oven and have loved using those when I’ve had access. My electric range isn’t particularly fancy so using the full size oven isn’t off the table but also won’t be particularly quick or convenient, I just don’t think I have the ability to upgrade that until next year. If I did, I could purchase a range with the same convection and air fry features….
Typically steak is the main item I cook that creates a lot of smoke but I have a nice deck where I can use a grill or blackstone for that purpose.

Amazing game, and excited to see what comes next with dlc. I’m mainly disappointed that I spent an extra $20 for cosmetics! I guess I thought I was paying for a season pass but I feel that we should have gotten more for the deluxe addition than cosmetics.
The cosmetics aren’t even that great, if I’m honest. My second play through, I’ve not even used any of the cosmetics so that I could enjoy the changing of outfits.

I want to try Sensory Percussion on a tabla set. This will be an experiment. I don't know if it will work. I already have a good sound card, so I don't really need the Sensory Percussion sound card. And I definitely don't need 3x sensors. Just one to test, and then 2 in total if it works well.
I want to know if I will get a license for the software if I purchase the single sensor? Or do you only get the software if you purchase the whole bundle?
How does the software licensing work? Does the bundle come with a code to log in to the website or something like that?

2024.11.28 19:40 zeorNLF Do I suck at the game or is Silent Hill 2 remake way too long?

I have never played a SH game before for the record but I am about 10 hours into the game and it seems like I am barely even halfway into the game. I feel like the hospital section has gone on forever and it was like 10 puzzles inside each other and I am immediately thrown into yet another area with nurses again.
I really don't think a horror experience like this should go beyond 5-7 hours because it puts you on edge the entire time so it's really tiring at this point.

I've been having considerable issues with my home network, which given that I WFH, I need to resolve ASAP. I've been a long time user of Netgear Orbi and am considering other options before pulling the trigger on upgrading to their latest stack.
My home needs:

~3k sqft two story home
A few dozen WiFi based smart home devices. Probably another 60 Zwave and Zigbee devices.
Heavy HD streaming (Netflix, AppleTV, etc)
All day long Zoom meetings
Much of the home is already wired with CAT5
VPN to Homelab and secure exit point while travelling
ISP provides 1GB up/down
2.4GHz for IoT devices

I'm currently looking to deploy this stack:

Firewalla Gold Plus (or Pro?)
2 x InstantOn AP25 (or a 3 pack)
1 x 24-port Instant On Series 1830 Switch

Is this overkill? Am I missing anything? As much as I'd love to set up VLAN tagging, I doubt I'd ever actually sit down and do it. My main goals are stability and speed.
