2025.01.18 18:21 Matrees1 Due to complete in two weeks and we just found out there was a huge water leak.
As the title suggests, we are due to complete on a vacant, probate house in two weeks time.
Our solicitors got in touch yesterday to tell us that there was a burst pipe due to the cold weather and the water tank leaked from the loft through the bathroom and landing into the kitchen.
We managed to get a viewing today to see the extent of the damage and the damage seems to be extensive. Many of the door frames and doors are damaged, the loft is showing signs of of mould due to the moisture, the ceiling are water logged and have come down in the bathroom and kitchen, the carpets (which were to be thrown anyway) are water logged. There is extensive damage to the walls which are water logged. I would imagine there is also extensive damage to the floorboards - not sure if these will dry out or will need to be replaced, etc.
The owners of the house got a plumber in to fix the leak, but other than that don’t seem to be doing anything about the damage and don’t seem too phased. The carpets are still down and are holding a lot of water. The estate agent didn’t seem to be too bothered either and kept saying “it’s fine it’ll dry out”.
There’s no doubt that aspects of the house were due for renovation anyway, but water damage may have caused damage beyond what was seen to be original renovation work. The fact that the estate agent was trying to minimise the impact of the damage by saying that we would have had to replace the ceiling or redecorate anyway, has annoyed me more than the damage itself.
How would you approach this situation?

 | Bagged (my first truck) a 2010 Lariat with 173,000 miles for a solid deal, and I’m looking for advice on preventative maintenance to keep it running strong for years to come. I recently changed the oil with fresh 5W-30 and have a mechanic who’s been working with me (he even came along when I bought the truck). He was impressed with its maintenance history, so I know I’ve got a solid base to work from. Next on the list is replacing the shocks, springs, and struts with all OEM parts. Also plans of rust proofing underneath (damn Midwest salt). For lack of better terminology, I’m looking to “future-proof” this truck.  | 2010 Porsche Panamera Turbo "I looked at the Turbo impeller and it’s all but gone" Mechanic found metal shavings in the air pipes when doing the alternator, but no big chunks. Turns out the Turbo got cooked and was making the noise. What could have caused this? My AiOil separator had a vacuum leak, and oil out the exhaust, which went away after I replaced the part. Happened about a month ago. - Is this wrecking/going to wreck my engine? If I swap the turbo, will I be ok? I'm suspecting we have a rodents infestation in the building. I'll report that to the owners first thing on Monday but in the meantime, for about a month, my cat has been suffering from recurring fleas.
over the course of the past month, besides natural solutions, I've given her 6 anti vlo tablets. we've already used up the package and I'm already anxious what to do next because I'm afraid to buy and give her anymore of this poison.
I keep combing her numerous times a day and cleaning the house vigorously but nothing really helps, they keep coming back and I'm not sure what to do. do you have a recommendation for a product that works? and preferably something that won't harm her health.
