I've been loving arcades lately and want some recommendations.
What is your favourite arcade in Auckland and why?
Also, are there any arcades that still have the good old games like street fighter, pin ball, tekken, etc.

2025.01.19 03:10 Thick_Excitement7054 Questions

I'm fairly new to cars and would love to have Theese questions answered. I would like to turbo charge my car. I have a four cylinder engine. How much money should I spend on a turbo charger or should I have the shop supply it also with being fairly new to cars should I try and install cold air intake by myself or have it done professionally? I've done research on cold air intake and it looks fairly simple and not that difficult to do lastly what would anybody recommend to buy? I have a 2025 Honda Civic sport model any other advice on how much I should be spending or generally would be greatly appreciated

2025.01.19 03:10 rredditrreaderr Considering a Career as a PA – Curious About Healthcare Advocacy

Hi everyone! I'm currently a dental hygienist with a bachelor's degree in dental hygiene, and I’m considering making the transition to becoming a Physician Assistant (PA). I’ve been thinking about how this role could fit with my interest in healthcare advocacy, improving access to care, and making a positive impact on the healthcare system, especially with a focus on prevention and equitable healthcare.
I’m curious about a few things:

A bit about me: I’m passionate about promoting preventative care and ensuring that healthcare is accessible and equitable for everyone. I also want to further my education and ultimately find a role that gives me both the opportunity to work directly with patients and influence broader health policies or organizational practices.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on whether PA work is in line with these interests and if you think it could be a fulfilling career for someone with my background.
Thanks in advance!

2025.01.19 03:10 spill_the_sass What am I doing wrong?

My almost 8 month old baby girl is not sleep trained and co-sleeps. She is good at falling asleep, with only a few minutes of patting and shushing. Until a few weeks ago her schedule was as follows: Morning wake up at 8 am 3 nap schedule - 2.5/2.5/2/3 Bedtime mostly 9-9.30 pm, no bedtime routine. Just her lullaby, dim red light and shushing and patting I gave her a dream feed around 4-5am in the morning and she slept through the night. This worked well until a few weeks ago but recently with still the same schedule, she now wakes up at 3 am/4.30/6.30am. Sometimes she will go back to sleep with shushing or patting and then wake up at 8 or we give up and let her wake up at 6.30/7. I tried the 3/3/4 wake window with 2 naps and that night she woke up at 9pm at night and stayed awake until 11 pm (like a 3rd wake window). Not sure if i should transition her to 2 naps already. Any other suggestions on what i might be doing wrong?

2025.01.19 03:10 Efficient-Natural853 Super Easy Tuna Casserole

If you're looking for a high protein, high fiber easy meal, I highly recommend this.
Ingredients: 1 package banza white cheddar shells 1 pouch trader Joe's skipjack tuna (or similar tuna in water)
Seasonings: 1tbsp Italian seasoning Black pepper 1tbsp Garlic powder 1tsp salt 2 tbsp Creme Fraiche (you could substitute a different sort of dairy, I just used creme Fraiche since that's what I had on hand
This recipe is super flexible.
Add Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and salt to your pasta water and bring to a boil. Cook the pasta for 8 minutes. Drain most of the water (do not rinse) and add the cheese powder packet and creme Fraiche, stir well, add tuna and black pepper to taste. Add water if needed to loosen it up.

2025.01.19 03:10 Sam-Fraudman-Jailed Optics and photonics -- China

I have not written investment thesis or investment analysis before, so please bear with me for this.
The advanced optics and photonics industry is likely to grow rapidly for the foreseeable future and may offer a lucrative avenue for returns. From the period of 2012 – 2022 this industry saw a compounded annual revenue growth of 7.31% Optics and photonics and required a diverse product supply chain. Additionally these are an important component of a myriad of technologies such as aviation, semiconductor manufacturing (primarily in Lithography) will revisit), space based communication, precision instruments, medical scanning technologies, medical devices, and prospective nuclear technologies. I will also suggest here that these industries will be a unique growth industry as climate change becomes more severe because government and private institutions will need to invest more money into ground and spaced based weather radars and other imaging technologies.
Lithography
The optics and photonics industry is also extremely important to the lithography industry; photolithography requires producing and aiming photons with extreme precision and consistency (both in terms of wavelength and vectors). The lithography side of this is something that may be best taken with caution. Currently, as many of us are keen to, only ASML and a privately held division of Zeiss hold the keys to EUV (extreme ultraviolet) lithography and optical and photonic technologies required for this. So it may seem here that ASML may be the best way to gain exposure to this. However, I believe that ASML is an attractive investment right now for other reasons and that its access to these technologies is as they say “priced in”. Ultimately, lithography and semiconductor manufacturing only makes up a small portion of the photonics and optics industry, around 1% in 2023. However, this fraction may change and importantly is highly consolidated; it offers an incredible moat for one or a few firms.
This bring up a few questions:
  1. Are these firms that developing optics and photonic capabilities will challenge ASML’s stranglehold on the lithography market?
  2. If so, what are the potential upsides and risks? In theory, if a firm could develop competitive lithography devices, it would likely go through explosive growth as the market transitions from monopoly to duopoly. If the firm fails, it would likely not have other profitable products to bring to market and would have burned up a big pile of cash to go nowhere?
  3. Is optics and photonics genuinely a good way to expose the lithography industry over the course of the next 5 years, 10 years, 15 years? This is a thesis I am considering, these technologies are involved in a diverse range of products outside of lithography. The technological advances required to develop lithography capabilities could be realized in other markets and products.
My consideration here has left me searching for a China play. My reasoning here is that China needs to indigenously develop photonics, optics, and lithography technology. While the importance of technological parity has always been important to China, the significance of this is increasing as they become more isolated from Western supply chains and as they mature in their research and advanced manufacturing capabilities. Indeed, in late 2024, it was announced that the state would invest $ 41 billion into developing its own lithography technology.
This investment has led me to consider Chinese semiconductors firms as a potential hedge on the position I am opening in ASML. This requires more research on my part and will these firms be interesting, I believe that incoming Trump admin will likely lead to volatility should be closely watched. Potentially these could become very appealing should they lose significant value during Trump 2.0. Below is a list of considerations here. I am listing the stock price and Tailing and Forward P/E.
Shanghai Conant Optical Co – https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/2276.HK/
This firm has a $10.15 billion market cap, a trailing P/E of 24.90, and a forward P/E of 11.72. Their profit margin is 19.80% and their return on equality is an attractive 27.99%. Additionally they generated $227.2 million in free cash flow of a revenue of $1.9 billion.
It is a Shanghai located firm, which is one the most important centers of Chinese research. This should give them the best access to the research institutions in the area. I have primarily picked this firm for further consideration because they are large, established, and profitable. It would be sensible for this firm to play a key role in the development China’s semiconductor capabilities.
At this point all these consideration are rather speculative. While the lithography angle could mean explosive future profits, at this point overall positioning in the China’s optics (and photonics) industry. I am not yet sure if Shanghai Conant Optical Co is positioned in manner that justifies investing in the firm. They are still a young firm and primarily positioned in medical device, custom manufacturing, and medical devise industry. The have appeared to grow well over the last few years, however it is hard to say if this growth will be funnelled into myriad of revenue streams available in the industry.
Would love hear some feedback from you all.
