Hi! Relatively new here with a dog in tow. Learning that for most provincial parks in QC, dogs aren’t allowed or have very limited access (none of the longer, more challenging or more scenic trails). It’s annoying bc that is exactly where you’d want to take a dog with you!
For the dog owners out there, where do you go winter hiking and/or snowshoeing with your pup? On or off-leash, either works. I’m hoping for something within a 1.5h drive from Montreal.

Hey everyone, I’m posting on behalf of a friend who’s in a tough spot and could use some advice.
So, my friend has been working at a startup for about 7 months (his first job), but the environment has turned toxic, so he started applying elsewhere. He recently got an offer from a MNC with a joining date in just 9 days. The problem is His current company has a 3-month notice period with 1 month buyout option.
During his MNC interviews, he told HR his notice period was 1 month with a buyout option (assuming he could negotiate an early release). But now, his current employer is refusing to let him leave early. He even tried saying it’s due to family issues, but the company is being rigid and has only offered unpaid leave for 2 months, saying he’ll still need to serve the notice when he returns.
MNC HR has mentioned they’ll need relieving documents during the background check, and my friend’s worried his current employer might tell the MNC about the actual 3-month notice period and the lie he told during the interview.
He’s now stuck between:
- Trying to convince his current employer for an early release again (but the company isn’t budging so far).
- Joining the MNC without a relieving letter and hoping they accept alternative proof like payslips/resignation emails.
- Risking being marked as absconding if he stops showing up to the current job.
Would love to hear any advice or suggestions on how he can handle this.
