 | 1400+ coding score. Institute rank 1 (Tier 69 ) 530 problems also includes some solved in contests. From the actual problem pool the count is 507 which is 16.9% of the total problems available for solving. I have solved around 290+ on Leetcode too. Currently learning Webdev and DSA grind is on hold for now but still maintaing daily streak on both platforms. Why I am doing this much?? I just like to solve them but it benefits me as a CS student too, it will help in interviews and job hunt and it also increases your logic building skills so that's why.... Sorry this is so long! For context, me (f29) and my sister (f30) have never really been close even though we have lived together all our lives. We have had periods of time when we were close, but nothing consistent. When we were growing up she had a clique of friends that would snicker and snide at me when I would say hi to her and she would make comments to put me down. As we grew older and I thought we had gotten over that (we were briefly in the same school from 17-18) we started out being close and when her friends would follow me on IG and ask me anything, she would blow up at me and accuse me of trying to steal her friends even though I didn’t initiate any of the conversations. But she would frequently ask to party with my friends when I was in university and make out with my guy friends that made our group dynamic a bit weird. I was willing to look past it because she was having fun. When she broke up with her ex when we were in our early twenties (I was in a long term relationship at this point), she accused me of wanting to fuck her ex even though I had never even had a conversation with him that she wasn’t a part of and I didn’t have his number / socials or anything. I probably met him 3 times with the entirety of my family, cousins etc. I had bad depression for about 2 years that went undiagnosed and I pushed everyone in my life away except for my mom… she encouraged me to go to therapy and eventually I got better. I recently found out that my sister had been talking badly about what I was going through at this time, putting me down for not attending family events etc. On top of that, everytime we have hung out for the past couple of years, she’s gone out of her way to make nasty comments about me putting me down and then brushing it away as a joke. For example, I recently went to the hospital because I hit my foot and she made fun of me in front of my family of “not having eyes to see where I’m going” but when my cousin’s husband was in the hospital for a migraine, she kept telling everyone how she was so worried and concerned etc. I have basically not reacted to any of the put downs / comments and have just tolerated it to “keep the peace” since my mom requested me to do so because “you know how your sister can be so we just have to be the bigger person and forgive”.
Fast forward to the situation - my sister and her now-husband got engaged in October 2024 and set their wedding date (civil ceremony and party) for January 2025. They’ve also set a bigger party / reception to happen in August 2025. Ive celebrated with her, been there for her in the planning and all that. My partner proposed to me in December 2024 on our anniversary. Initially we wanted to get married in July 2025 - we privately asked my sister and her husband for their blessing in case they might have reservations about it being in July and they gave it. A few days after this, her and her husband came to my (and my partner’s) house and started yelling at us about how we have disrespected her by choosing July that’s a month before her etc. She started making comments putting me down and raising her voice and my fiancé stepped in and said I am so sorry but you cannot speak to my wife that way (at the same volume she was speaking to me).
She flipped out even more and started saying he yelled at her and “men should never raise their voice at me” and went around telling everyone that’s what happened. I had to reiterate that my partner matched her volume and told her to cut out the bullying. We have apologised to her for offending her and have even changed our wedding date but now at family events, she pretends my fiancé doesn’t exist and scoffs or makes comments under her breath whenever I contribute to the conversation. Everyone I talk to my parents about my wedding and she’s there she just pretends I don’t exist / scoffs. My mom keeps telling me to talk to her and keep the peace but I am not sure how to navigate this situation. I feel a lot of hurt and resentment over this, especially since I celebrated with her and wish her no ill will.

2025.01.19 15:00 Unlawfully_Neutral Newbie struggling to change Y axis orientation in Mach3
 | I've recently bought a second hand custom cnc but I'm having trouble with the direction of travel on the Y axis. I'm worried that when I load in code the spindle will move in the opposite direction to what I intended and potentially crash into something or ruin my workpiece. I'm using Fusion360 for my CAD/CAM and Mach3 to run the machine. Am I overthinking the issue? Can I use CAM settings in Fusion to run from Y-1100 towards Y +0 when i set my toolpaths? Or should I make the effort to reset my axis numbers to work like in my 2nd image because it's more intuitive to work with? Hoping for some guidance from those more experienced than myself, which is pretty much everyone at this point tbh. I'll be loading stock mostly into the front edge (closest to the camera perspective), which is at the negative end of the Y axis movement. The Ref Home location is in the back left at the current 0, 0 machine coords. Ideally I'd like to have the Y axis start at +0 closest to the front and ascending as it moves farther away, but I'd still like the Ref Home to go to the back left corner where the spindle is out of my way. submitted by Unlawfully_Neutral to hobbycnc [link] [comments] |

I'm back in my home country (Philippines) as a recent Spanish B.A. recipient and from a few years living in Latin American countries and my Spanish, suffice to say, is pretty damn fucking good. I met my 4 y.o. niece for the first time and immediately offered to her mother (my older cousin) to teach my niece Spanish for free completely, as my way of giving back to the family. She says 'No, because she needs to learn Tagalog and English first. I don't want her to answer back to the teacher in Spanish.' and other antiquated beliefs about how children learn languages that was sad to hear coming from someone I consider really intelligent. I try to explain to her that children are perfectly capable and she's at the perfect age to pick it up really fast but she wasn't hearing it. But I decided to speak to her in Spanish. Anytime she talked to me I replied exclusively in Spanish in a slow and patient way, which made her mom extremely mad and she yelled at me and accused me of undermining her as a parent. I maintain that I never taught her Spanish. My teaching material is much more structured than simply just speaking the language to someone. Also, sometimes it just comes out of me at this point after having lived in LatAm for so long. AITAH?

I'm a new player and I tried being some partisan sniper and that was painful. Don't know the maps well enough to even position myself to do whatever I tried to do. The rare occasion that I got kills were just from shooting people trying to repair tanks. But then I realized it feels much better to just support your tank players by spotting and targeting cheeky AT guys and then aiming for out of place medics trying to save them. The dopamine rush from doing well with these weapons is amazing. I have no idea what to do at night though

Recently as I started changing my config and included some element of a config named NANO Emacs, I noticed some lag. On my main, powerful (i7 11th, 64G of Ram) computer the lag was less noticeable but you could still fill it, but on older (but still powerfull) device then it was really annoying. At first I thought some part of the config (layout, mode-line, header, theme setting) was responsible, so I pass quite some time to search with try and error for laggit part. But, it append it simply came from the font settings, in particular the use of light variant of a font in NANO Emacs. More precisly, the way the font is set. In the config the default face is set as (set-face-attribute 'default nil :height 120 :weight 'light :family "Maple Mono NF" ) with the use of the :weight parameter then it lags. But if I remove/comment this :weight parameter (and use the regular weight) or if I "create" a font family with the same light font but renamed and set as the Regular font (by the use of Fontforge) and use that one without the :weight parameter then no lag.

Note: I "create" the font family because I could not succeed in setting the light font directly without the :weight parameter, but I am interested if there is a way.
