2025.01.19 21:41 elofty Ohme epod with intelligent octopus go
Quick question,
I have an ohme epod linked to my intelligent octopus go tariff and it’s set to smart charge only.
When I plug in it creates a schedule but when I check my octopus app it just says Smart Control ready,
If it charges outside 11.30pm and 5.30 am does this mean it’ll be at the cheaper rate as I’ve stated smart charge only or does it also have to show on my octopus app? I’ve seen sometimes it shows on both but lately I only get the half hourly windows showing on the ohme app,
Also if the above is correct, is the whole house at the cheaper rate if the car is charging outwith the overnight times?

Apologies if there is a more suitable place for this but - anyone else feel dizzy/uneasy after listening to 2x speed audio messages?
I've noticed that whenever I listen to sped up voice notes, immediately after I stop feel kind of dizzy and almost like the voice in my head/inner monologue/thoughts is in slow motion. It's only very temporary but couldn't find anything from Google. Just on the off chance anyone else experiences similar.

My parents are very late boomers and I'm barely a millennial -we're 19 years apart.
During my life, my parents (split when I was young) had very different financial philosophies, but I followed both through life.
Both are in their early 60s, so they have a few years to retire before Medicare kicks in. I feel like they are going to enter retirement and have no clue.
My mom was recently laid off, due to her bosses position being eliminated. She has no ambition to look for a job. She stated this is the first time she's had 2 weeks off in 17+ years. I get it, but it's not like you're going to be hired to start tomorrow anywhere. She received severance, but is acting like that's going to do something.
I'm seriously worried about my parents life choices and that I'll need to support both parents in the future. Anyone else feel this way? Is there hope that they realize they need to work? I make enough for a minimalist life by myself.

2025.01.19 21:41 Cubejunky Update on fleamarket SteamDeck
 | Back in September I think, I made a post either here or on the steamdeck forum about a steamdeck I found at a flea market that was pretty beat up. Short recap it was missing screws inside and out, heat sink brackets that hold it down where snapped off, back plate was cracked broken and even if it had screws they wouldn't hold it down, dog/cat hair all over the inside, cracked screen (pic doesn't show how bad it was), bumpers didn't work, triggers barely worked, "X" button iffy at best. A power issue where it would randomly turn off and on. I ended up getting it for $50 and it had a 1tb nvme in it that was worth more then the $50 he was asking, mostly did it for that. Well update l've been tinkering and working on it for the past few months in my spare time, and have completely restored it. I've replaced the heat sink and thermal past, replaced the back plate, replacea all missing screws, did my first screen replacement on any device, deep cleaned it which got the triggers and X button working, new back plate, and cleaned usb c connection and battery connections which seemed to fix power issue, and a friend was able to solder on some replacement bumper buttons to the boards. All in all I spent about $185 total for the unit and parts, the 1tb drive in it was worth more then I paid for the unit, so I wiped it and reinstall a fresh copy of SteamOS as the final touch.
