I’m creeping up on 50, a USMC veteran and recently laid off from the auto prototyping industry. Burned out of it actually and looking to transition. I’m creative too, with a graphics design background, with some marketing, but i feel an urge to get in to a trade. Is it too late to do an apprenticeship for plumbing or hvac?

2025.01.19 21:43 JebebCrust17 I (M15) had a school dance last night and some interesting things happened with my crush (F16)
So last night we had a school dance and I wasn’t really expecting much to happen with my crush but I guess I was wrong? There were a few things that happened yesterday and I kind of don’t know what to think because of all the mixed signals yesterday
So to start off: Yesterday morning (Like 11) I texted her asking if she was excited for the dance and she never responded and that kind of got me down in the dumps and made me think that it was kind of hopeless but the dance itself restored some of if not most of my faith.
Later that evening at the start of the dance I was just sitting with a few of my friends and one of my friends came over to our table(we’ll call him Bob). Bob has been talking to my crushes sister for a bit and for like half an hour Bob kept sending snaps and videos of me to her sister and for a bit it was just chill. Eventually her sister sent a video of her own saying that she enjoyed my one band video that I did the other day (it’s on my profile, you should totally check it out. More on the video itself and how it might be related to this later)
Eventually she sent another video asking, “Why are you talking to my sister?” And I didn’t know how to respond so I kind of ignored it, but I was thinking about it for the rest of the night for a few reasons. 1) From that video I learned that she (my crush) told her sister about me 2) I’m very confused by what her sister means by “talking”
Then eventually my crush actually arrived and for most of the night I was just being myself and partying the night away. While the dance was going on I noticed 2 major things though. First, I noticed that she was looking/glancing at me very often. I noticed her glancing and looking at me when ironically I was glancing and looking at her too. And that happened a lot over the 3 hour dance. The second thing I noticed was that her and her friends were always around us for like 70% of the dance and my crush herself was usually closer to me before they would eventually move somewhere else.
I also did the worm a few times because it’s a talent I have and gets some laughs out of people. She was always cheering me on when I was doing the worm too.
Back to the video that I mentioned earlier. This is just a theory for now but it’s a really strong one. So to remind you, I said that her sister said that she loved my one man band video and that didn’t really trigger anything in my mind until this morning. Anyways my train of thought is this: I posted that video on my Snapchat story on Thursday (If you don’t know how Snapchat stories work they disappear after 24 hours). When I posted that video I only had my crush added. I didn’t add her sister until last night after the dance which was Saturday. So technically the only possible way for her sister to have seen that video is for my crush to have shown her.
After the dance I was talking to my dad and my stepmom and this morning I was talking to my mom and my stepdad and all 4 of them mentioned her maybe or probably being interested in me. I just don’t know. I’m hesitant to believe that because she seems to ignore me on Snapchat sometimes but then in person it’s like completely different. The mixed signals are the end of me. My stepmom also said last night that because I’m a freshman and she’s a junior she may be an unsure about her feelings if she is interested in me.
Anyways, I just wanted some other peoples opinions and thoughts. Sorry for the long post but any advice is appreciated! Thanks :)

Booked a room for a weekend at the Texas A&M convention center. Prepaid. Winter storm system cancelled travel. Called hotel to cancel the room and they couldn’t find my reservation…lo and behold..it was booked through a third party without our knowledge. The hoops I’m having to jump thru just to talk to a human are insane. Do we have any recourse? We have friends that booked thru the hotel, which we thought we did, and they were able to get refunded. I feel like we were swindled.

2025.01.19 21:43 Accomplished_Drag714 Mango plant stopped growing
 | My mango plant (planted a pit from a mango) has stopped growing, and any new leaves turn brown/black and then die. I’ve checked the roots and didn’t see any root rot, but repotted it into soil that had more perlite in case it was a drainage issue. It has only ever successfully grown 2 leaves, but those began to dry up and die, so I tried to trim off the dead parts 😭idrk what I’m doing tho. I’ve tried watering it less, and watering it more, in case it was a watering issue but that didn’t seem to help. Any help/advice would be appreciated!! Pictures shown are of the leaves that were drying up before I trimmed them, and pic of the node with a remnant of a leaf and some new sprouts that have been trying to grow for a while now. Last month I came across a post here about a gardening kit that comes with a bunch of uncommon seeds and a book with recipes for herbal remedies that can be made from the plants. I thought it'd make a cool addition to my garden this year and the fact that it's made by Nicole who was on season 2 and 4 of the show Alone sold me even further because I love that show.
I can't find the original post but I want to thank them for sharing and tell anyone who was on the fence to go for it. I've planted everything so I'll share updates and photos of my garden as it grows in the comments of this post. The book written by Nicole goes over everything you can make with the plants from ointments and teas all the way to essential oils and infusions. These plants are not something you'd find in a normal store so they make for a unique addition to your garden.
