I have a lovely 15 1/2 year old female english springer spaniel. She struggles with lame hips, arthritis, separation anxiety, and bad hearing. She has good eyesight, loves human food, going on adventures with me (unless it is cold), and kisses/cuddles.
I was giving her cbd oil for her arthritis but she still seemed stiff and brought her to the vet. I also asked the vet about quality of life and if she thought the dog should be put down. Even though she agreed the dog is in pain she thought she still had some vitality left and it was not the time to euthanize the dog.
Here’s my dilemma: since putting her on pain meds and anti-anxiety meds (carpofren, gabapentin & prozac) I’m concerned. My dog was already a picky eater and her meds have made that worse. She still eats some food every day but I fear she is losing too much weight. Because she’s under-eating it seems it’s reducing her energy levels greatly. She doesn’t seem to want to walk, partly because she probably doesn’t have the energy to. But if I don’t walk her I can barely get her to eat anything. She seems to be more comfortable but I’m unsure if the dosage is correct - i think she needs a higher dose of pain meds but I worry it will make her more lethargic, not hungry, and unbalanced.
I feel bad forcing her to walk when she doesn’t want to but I also feel terrible allowing her to sleep too much (she needs to go to the bathroom). I have already called the vet and told them about my concerns about her continuing to rapidly lose weight. I’m worried we are not able to fully assess the success/effects of meds because of malnutrition. In the meantime, what should I do???
More info: this is my parents dog. She is a childhood pet for me. My parents live in an area that’s very cold and have a history of neglecting animals. I brought her to florida with me so wouldn’t have suffer and in hopes that her remaining time here she would be comfortable/well loved. I am trying my best so please be kind

He, too, is anchored, but to the sky above, not the seabed below! Similarly, the gift of hope keeps you anchored to heaven. And just as the kite surfer is propelled forward, so, too, is your hope in heaven moving you forward.
Yes, the love of God is stable and unchanging like a rock, but it is also active and dynamic like the wind. It keeps you peaceful and calm even as it breathes life into you and propels you forward. It keeps you rooted in the eternal unchanging truths of the gospel even as it energizes you and moves you ever closer toward the perfect joy of heaven.
You may feel today that you need to be anchored safely to the Lord as storms rage around you. Or you may need a fresh wind from the Spirit to enliven you and help you get unstuck. Or you may need a mixture of both. Whatever your situation and whatever your need, keep your heart fixed on the Lord! Place your hope in his promises, because hope doesn’t disappoint (Romans 5:5)!

A bit about me, I’ve got around 23 years experience in finance and accounting, mainly in energy, and tech startups. I’ve worked mainly in positions like financial controller, portfolio manager, FP&A.
5 years ago I moved to Australia, to a capital city. I found it easy to get a job(s) (8 in the last 5 years, down to my own choices). Basically accounting and even basic bookkeeping in Australia is shockingly bad, in all the roles I’ve worked in I’ve ended up having to build the finance function from scratch pretty much. And these are businesses of all types, start ups, medium, listed, enterprise. There seems to be a fundamental lack of understanding of how finance and accounting ‘works’ here. I’m talking super basic stuff, no balance sheet recs, management accounts that are meaningless because no month end journals (or if journals have been processed they are so incorrect, they are meaningless and confusing).
Maybe it’s the laid back nature of people here? Maybe it’s because CPA Australia is less than the equivalent of AAT in the uk?
Anyway, rant over, I know what ever business I end up in next will be the same situation, so now I’m putting the wheels in motion to start a practice that provides bookkeeping, BAS, credit controls and treasury, management reporting, and forecasting services. I luckily have a deep network of professionals in this space that will allow me to have super competitive pricing, and a level of quality that be unrivalled with competitors and internal accounting teams.
I’m looking for modern practice management software that will help me stream line comms with my internal team, and externally with clients. I came across Karbon, wondered if anyone has used that, and if it’s worth the extra cost over something like Xero practice manager (which I have already used, and understand it).

Hi! I just wanted to share a positive way I found to quit, not sure if it will work for everyone. I stopped taking my vape anywhere with me and began to only use it once on the hour at home. I store it out of sight always. It always goes back to that same spot (ex: doesn’t travel to the bathroom, etc). If I got five minutes into the hour without hitting it I would skip into the next hour. I got used to not having it in the car or at work, the tapering down ended up working well. I had a sleepover where I didn’t hit one for an entire twenty four hours and was just a bit dissociative and went cold turkey after. Currently completely free and this has made the cravings much more manageable than my failed cold turkey attempts.

I'll get straight to the point:
Reasons Why Yes: -When we are in the same room we nearly always end up sitting next to one another, not by my doing -He says he loves a certain singemusic type/song then minutes after said I reminded him of heit -He randomly gives me his things sometimes like jewelry, clothes, pens, drinks, has me hold onto them for minutes or hours then retrieves them from me later with no explanation -When I was in then ending phases of a toxic situationship he stopped me from losing more pride -He told one of my friends who is also his ex (they only dated for maybe two/three months before deciding they were making each other mental states worse) that I am one of his favorite people -I have autism and my mom has taught me to read people and speak my thoughts better, but sometimes I can't and despite that he always knows and understands the meaning behind what I am saying when other people misunderstand he tells them for me. Like a translator. -He invited me to his house to practice singing together even though we were already going to have a practice session with the organization we sing with/for. -I went skiing for the first time with some friends who have been skiing/snowboarding since they could walk. I was scared to go on the easiest slope by myself and he went with me when no one else would at the sacrifice of his own fun with the others.
Reasons Why No: -He is a very social person, he might just do these things for everyone and I don't notice because it isn't me. He told a girl she should try some headphones once and just took them and put them gently on her head, that's something I would have put on the yes list of it had been me. -He has a girl friend (not girlfriend. Lol) who he is close with and they hang out and seem to touch a lot (just fingers and hugging) but she herself is also like that with all guys and he could just be reciprocating? -Maybe he's just kind. -Maybe he just trusts me enough to talk to me and give me things?? -Maybe he treats me with decent human kindness and I'm being stupid and delusional? -With his track record I really don't think I'm his type physically.
Ok. Nevermind. I'm going to say it's definitely a no, but I'm confused and I want to hear you all confirm my verdict.
He doesn't act they way people have in the past when they like me...he feels like a real person I have a genuine connection to. Which is better, and also worse. I've liked, admired, envied, respected, been attracted to, and cared about him since the first day I saw him five years ago and it gets a little stronger everyday. What's wrong with me???? He's just so good. He's a good person.

It makes me anxious that when I look up Christian tips and stuff, it’s like, “fast from hot showers, coffee, makeup, worldly pleasures,” etc… all these simple things that make me feel joy. I feel like I’m doomed. I’m not exactly new to Christianity but I’ve stated my previous bad experiences with it in another post. Some say the only thing you need to be a good Christian is faith in Jesus to save you, but what if that’s wrong? What if I have to be perfect to the point it makes me anxious and hurts me again? Every time I try to get closer to the Lord, I spiral down spiritual psychosis and scrupulosity. I just very recently tried to reconnect with god and I can already see these patterns forming again… how do I stop it? I wanna enjoy life without fear or guilt but I don’t want to be damned to hell…

This past weekend I bought another pair of used MSR Lightning Ascents - the urethane foot pad on my old pair is tearing off the rivets. My new old MSRs has what I think is called the PosiLock straps, versus the "Classic strap," - the lollypop-shaped strap, based on what it looks like. Are these two straps interchangeable? (Of course I could just start switching the straps and find out, but just because I can make something work, doesn't mean that I should...) (And yes - I realize that the short and long Posilock are slightly different in length from the short and long Classic...) Thanks!
