For context, I work at a reptile zoo, so the humidity is always extremely high. If I don't wear a tshirt I'm basically sweating the entire time.
I sometimes have to show guests around, and I feel extremely self-conscious about my scars and I'm afraid i'll make them uncomfortable. Is it selfish to not cover my arms up??
Also, bracelets won't work since the scars go all the way up my arms and I'm too nervous to use any kind of makeup to cover it up since I handle animals so often.

2025.01.21 12:18 Vridiantoast Nova Wars tie in, part 47
Good morning, and welcome back. I’m slowly getting screenshots set up for the new reference photos. I’m not looking forward to the cropping hell that’s gonna be my Valkyrie upgrade. I will also have to use some screenshots from Battlestar Deadlock for some ships, like the Minotaur and Heracles, as they don’t exist in Project Stardust, nor is it in the previous reference images. Yey.
As another aside, I’ve begun to play Battlestar Deadlock again, continuing where I left off. I forgot how fun the game is.
As always, this is a tie in to the long story of Ralt’s universe. If you missed the First Part, or the [last part] , I suggest going back and reading it. Also, don’t forget to take a peek at the fleet makeup spreadsheet (Yes, I also look at the spreadsheet. I keep using it more often than I think)

The fleet jumped in with its usual precision, awaiting commands as I got a situation update from the system. It seemed like our valiant defense last time around had put some kind of dent in the enemy, but the swarm was still considerably massive. We set up in the usual split and began our movement when the first EM hash hit us. The Hades and Zeus were new, so I wasn’t surprised that some of my systems suffered failures. What did surprise us was the radio calls from flight suits as mark Seventy Vipers that had launched from the Valkyrie class Battlestars shorted out, some even catching fire. Raptors were quickly sent out to conduct search and rescue as Admiral Bannon and I talked, trying to reshuffle squadrons. With the Valkyrie and Atlas squadrons out of action we were down a considerable number of fighters, around 160 squadrons of Vipers. The only way to patch it would be to call up squadrons from the support ships, leaving them with empty hangar bays as half squadrons were quickly dispatched to assist in ground efforts.
Being down that many Vipers was not good. The support ships only had 128 squadrons once they combined the half squadrons from the Adamant and Berserk classes, as we had just gotten to the magic number of 64 of the class. Thankfully we also had 64 Defense class support ships, which housed a full squadron. The Vipers aboard the Defense class were the old Mark ten, still awaiting replacement as production of the mark Twenty continued to grow, replacing losses and thankfully the old half squadrons aboard the cruisers. With 64 squadrons of each type, the mark ten was slotted to ground support as we all cursed our own mistake. It was also at this point I realized a separate issue. We didn’t have enough cruisers. So focused we had been on getting capital numbers up to par we had forgotten to approve the expansion of the fleet’s defense screen. The subpar Janus and Manticore designs are perfect for ground combat support, but are found lacking in space combat, thanks to needing a vastly smaller crew size, normally only a dozen members. However, all vessels would find themselves pressed into space action as we approached. The Mark ten groups began to head planetside only to be recalled as the Mar-Gite doubled in strength. They had sensed our weakness, and called on more members to capitalize on it. Admiral Bannon ordered the fleet into a massive single formation, with the Hades bringing up the rear. Our rescue fleet poured on as much speed as they dared, engines burning brightly from the dagger shaped vessels as they descended toward populated areas. Meanwhile, I braced for a long and costly battle.
The CIC of the Hades was a different kind of chaos then I was used to. Even with the alterations I had made, there was still the errant game of telephone for some posts, like engineering, the hangar, and gunnery. Normally one of the other crew members would pull double duty, forwarding orders and such while I tried to focus on collating information and then provide orders. On top of that, I also had to give orders to ships around me. Normally this took up two communication officers splitting in two groups. In this case, I was having to split gunnery orders into six groups, something I wasn’t used to. Each sector had to focus and move flak to areas that lacked it while also defending the ship. Meanwhile the Viper squadrons did their best to blunt any tendrils that tried to prove around the fleet, while the planetary guns and local garrison would be forced to do the rest. The Atlas carriers added what firepower they had, which wasn’t much. Raptors and shuttles streamed from the fleet in droves as they went down to the surface, picked up refugees, and took them back up to the now spacious hangar bays aboard the carriers before repeating the process.
In my head, I lamented the maneuverability we once had when facing smaller threats. We had the numbers still to do only holding actions, but at least we could finally do that reliably, if only as a single fighting force. Vipers zipped around the formation moving from one weak spot to the next as orders were given, enacted, and followed up on with more requests. Missiles streaked planet-side as flak streamed towards the enemy, all the while the fleet needed to keep a steady and strict formation. I had set Percy and Annabeth on a trip to the Themis to personally look over a mark seventy in hopes we may be able to fix whatever issue plagued the model, and knew I wouldn’t get a proper understanding of the event until after we got back to the home system. Meanwhile, the firepower of the Heracles class was showing itself to be useful, matching the firepower of the refit Valkyrie class, which was formidable in itself. Thankfully, with the actions of the combined force, we were able to hold long enough to get three quarters of the population before marines began to be overwhelmed. Slowly, we shrunk our formation as the troops fell back towards the starport, losing a good number of men in the process. We began to pull our men out, as the capital ships prepared a final farewell message to our enemies. Vipers were recalled, Raptors landed and shuttles recalled as the fleet began calculating the jump out of system. Missiles continued to stream out of the cruisers as the silos on the Battlestars opened up and massive munitions began to receive information. Command codes, tracking data, then final safeties.
We hit launch, closed all the bays and flight pods, and jumped out as the planet went from a boiling battle zone to something way, way hotter. The power of 432 miniature suns lit up the planet, its atmosphere becoming embroiled in flame, as the flashes of the fleet signaled our departure…

Hello, I have a house listed for sale through a local agent but with current events unfortunately I think it's safer for me to stay put near family.
Background: It was listed for $225k in Nov 2024 and has only been viewed by 3 people as of Jan 21st. My agent asked if I want to lower the price and I said not sure lets revisit at end of month. The listing agreement goes till June. And the wildcard: the agency fronted me $4500 for landscaping/painting/etc, and there's a single line in the agreement stating that money is to be paid back upon closing. Nothing about paying it back if it doesn't sell. Agent is a partial owner of the business and fronting money is abnormal for them, so their motivation to sell this house is extra high.
My understanding is that if someone puts a reasonable offer on the house I can't decline without some valid reason.
Problem: I'm worried that someone will put in a reasonable offer between now and June and I'll have to follow through with selling. I'm not in a financial place to pay the fee to end the listing agreement, so really trying to see if I can just wait for it to end on is own. Also, I worry that if they realize I'm no longer motivated to sell they may take legal action in an attempt to get their investment back.
Questions: Is there something obvious I'm not considering? If someone were to offer to buy at the listing price I think I'm required to accept, but what if they offer slightly under? Do you have any other relevant advice?
This is my first time selling a house so please be patient with me if I'm misunderstanding something.
