2025.01.22 00:35 JSparrowT Capital Gains Tax: What is the ordering with which units of the same asset type are 'matched' between buys and sells?
Hi all,
I want to make use of CGT allowance and also buy more units of the same asset.
I am trying to figure out if in order to do that I need to sell shares first or if I can buy some more before selling.
Given this example:
- Tax year 23/24 I buy 1 share of a stock, with price 100GBP per share.
- Tax year 24/25:
- day 1. I buy another share at price 200GBP
- day 31. I sell 1 share at 200GBP
- day 61. I buy 1 share at 200GBP
Have I materialised a 100GBP profit, selling a stock I bought in 23/24, or have I simply sold the same share I bought the day before and there is no profit?
Is this something that is up to the broker or is there a hard rule that defines the order in which units of the same asset type are disposed of?
I realise that I could avoid this dilemma by buying a different asset in 2.1. but ideally I would stick to one asset as much as possible.

Hi everyone!
I started Mounajaro about three months ago and am currently in my second month of 5mg, and while weight is very slowly coming off, I was wondering when and what dosage you have noticed things happening? I've read about so many amazing non-weight loss related benefits that have not kicked in for me. In fact, I don't feel very different at all. I do know my bloodwork is improving but I just don't feel anything. I always had elevated CRP numbers so I assumed there was some inflammation going on but I haven't noticed any effects related to that as others have (like huge weight loss very early on, more energy, better sleep etc) so I am even questioning if my body is not in as bad a shape as I thought. I am just curious to hear about your experiences and when that did or did not happen for you! Thank you:))

2025.01.22 00:35 Dragon4568 Performance issues with RTX 3060
Okay folks I am at a loss. I have been excited to play blade and sorcery vr. I am using a meta quest 3 tethered to my computer. I have an RTX 3060 with 12 gb of v ram,a ryzen 7 5700 and 16 gb of ram. I have deleted razor cortex from my computer, upgraded and went back with driver versions to test, increased priority in task manager, ran in the different modes that steam offers either steam vr or oculus vr, overclocked my pc, adjusted in game graphical settings, adjusted resolution in steam vr in each eye, and done everything but get a new graphics card. I am at a loss. I am well above the recommended specs and start out at 72 fps. But for some reason I can not get a smooth experience. I know vr is taxing but I see so many content creators on YouTube run the game with worse specs and have drastically better performance. I am aware you can increase the resolution of the video and that doesn’t necessarily mean it is the resolution they are playing at but this is just absurd. It’s just kinda degrading because hours of trouble shooting and testing but no results. I haven’t seen a recent post about the issue but the consensus I have seen is that an RTX 3060 should be able to run vr decently. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you all.

I owe an explanation of how warrants work in order to try to help understand the mechanisms behind their price movement and dispel the myth that they can be "worthless." An answer to u/Interesting-Play-489
 | Let me begin with somewhat of a response to a post I read earlier from u/Interesting-Play-489 In his post he questions why GRRR warrants are worth "anything at all" and that they are "totally worthless." "GRRR warrant holders," he warns, "do you even know what you hold. They're essentially worthless." Hmmmmmm, sounds ominous...for worthless things...you know, these things sure seem to be worth a lot of money: https://preview.redd.it/hqabfazjmfee1.png?width=1086&format=png&auto=webp&s=929ecc663977e3320069c72aecc4d374449c6c00 That is right: +1175%...in 5 months Now, I do not know Interesting Play but he seems like a highly intelligent person based on his writing style. He did made me think: perhaps he is right, I should I approach this with a critical mind. A critical mind everyone. Think for yourself. The first thought that occurs to me is, we have two options here. Which is more likely? OPTION A: IntelligentPlay reddit user that seems like a highly intelligent individual based on his writing style is correct in his assessment that the market has completely missed the fact that these warrants are totally worthless and droves of investors (including institutional) have driven the price up by close to 12x in the brief time that I have owned them. All these people are buying air, what fools! And he has found it! OR OPTION B: These are not totally worthless and a highly intelligent individual (based on his writing style) is wrong. Hmmmm...which seems more likely to you? Ok so here is how warrants work: Warrants allow you to purchase a stock at an underlying strike price. If the strike price is $11.50 you can exercise your warrant and purchase a common share of the company for this $11.50. 1 warrant exercised @ $11.50 = 1 share @ $11.50 Why would you ever want to do this unless the stock price was above the warrant price? The answer is: you wouldn't. Let's take my GRRR warrants as an example. GRRR went through a 10-1 reverse split so the strike price is now $115. The expiration date is Sept. 13th, 2027. So that means that at some point between now and Sept. 13th, 2027 I can exercise my warrants and buy a share of GRRR common stock for $115. Why the hell would I want to do that???? Warrants are only trading for 68 cents!!! The answer is I wouldn't until the common shares of GRRR go over $115...or approximately a 10x from here BUT my warrants would have skyrocket in value by then! Now, in the future, if a common share of GRRR was worth: $150 and I could buy 1 share of GRRR for $115 now this becomes attractive because I would see a return of $35 in the differential between the strike price of warrant and the price of the common share. The argument that u/Interesting Play is presenting in his thesis is that GRRR warrants are "totally worthless" because the warrants "did not undergo the same split" as the common shares. So now you have a strike of $115 and you need to buy a single share of GRRR by exercising lots of 10 warrants. So these are totally worthless right? Oooof...where do I start? Ok so let's start again with the principal that exercising a warrant (or lot of warrants) only becomes attractive to do IF the value of the common shares becomes significantly higher than the value of the strike. So let's say in theory the common shares have moved up to $150 and, Intelligent Play, is correct and I need to exercise a lot of 10 warrants to exercise them. $150 (common) - $115 strike = $35 differential So the lot of 10 warrants should be trading for at least $35 $35 /10 = $3.50 So in this scenario IF Intelligent Play is correct and I need a lot of 10 warrants to exercise 1 share then the warrants would still be worth $3.50/each...NOT TOTALLY WORTHLESS. That is a 514% increase from the current value of $0.68/warrant. Definitely not worthless. But the common stock has to go up 1000% from here to reach $150/share...so I would only be getting half the return on that increase. Hmmmm...weird my warrants are +1175% in the same time the commons are only +368%...doesn't seem likely. Now, let's say that Intelligent Play is not correct about the lots of 10, the warrants not undergoing the same 10-1 reverse split thing...so we go off the thesis that the warrants are 1-1: If the common shares do move up to $150. $150 - $115 = $35 In this scenario each warrant is worth $35 itself or a 5147% increase in value from where the warrants currently trade. See how warrants work? They give you leverage but they only give you leverage in so far as the common shares become more valuable than the strike price. The differential of this value should give you an approximate value for the warrants. It is all about the commons becoming more valuable than the strike because who wants to exercise a warrant unless the common share is more valuable than the strike? The company can set how many warrants need to be exercised in however many lots (1, 5, 10)...this is part of the warrant structure...but no matter what, these warrants will always hold value. So let's work off the premise again then that Intelligent Play is correct and these warrants are now 10-1 and for whatever reason they did not undergo the same 10-1 reverse split (which again, I have not encountered in my research and do not know if this is true). Commons go to $200 $200 - $115 = $85 $85 / 10 warrants = $8.50 / warrant $8.50 / $0.68 (current GRRRW price) = 1250% increase $200 / $14.74 (current GRRR price) = 1356% increase The differential in gains narrows as the common shares move up in value with GRRRW eventually overtaking the commons even in this 10-1 scenario. So these are not worthless...even in lots of 10. My guess is they are very very worth holding. To u/IntelligentPlay, please present me your findings...I will change my mind if you are right and they are worthless. Convince me. I don't need GRRR common shares to come anywhere near the $115 strike (in lots of 10 or as singles). All I need is for common shares to move up in the next year (because I have to Sept 2027 to wait) and I will see an exponential return. Warrants are awesome. I just bought more AMPX warrants today!!! Hello, my beautiful friends, I’m back with another discussion lol
I’m going to the dentist tomorrow because I’ve been in excruciating pain from a cracked tooth that needs to be removed. Even at my big age of 32, I still get serious dental anxiety. It doesn’t help that the last time I had the Novocaine shot on the left side of my mouth, I experienced double vision. It was such a crazy experience—I’ve never been through anything like that before.
Has anyone else gone through something similar? How do you deal with dental anxiety or unexpected side effects during dental visits? I’d love to hear your experiences or tips!
