2025.01.22 00:53 Calfkiller Just installed a Midea 12,000 BTU DOE Smart window unit and I have some questions.
Model: MAW12S1DWWT
I found a great deal on FB marketplace for this new Midea window unit and so I bought it. It isn't the U shaped I was searching for, but for my budget, I couldn't pass this up.
So, my space is a 225 sq ft finished attic space that gets up to 90 degrees in the summer. I know I should've asked questions first, but this is where we are.
First question: The manual says that my unit should be angled to 3 - 5 degrees and I was able to get it to about 5.5. Is this too much tilt, or will it be fine?
Second question: This unit says it has ComfortSense technology. What does this mean? Is this the same as an inverter in the U shaped models? Will this be efficient in cooling my space?
I'm HVAC illiterate, so I just need some guidance. Do you feel like this will be good for the space I'm needing it in?

I have a computer with an RTX 4060 and a 60 Hz monitor. I get minor screen tearing and displacement from some games, but it is the most noticable on browsers (Chrome and Edge). How would i fix this? I tried V-sync and it didn't seem to do anything.

Hey guys, I’m currently predicted a 6 for both Eng and Mandarin A L&L. Recently, I’ve been doing IO practices in both subject and they are looked at quite heavily according to past alumni from my school. I have no problem with writing papers but I keep getting stressed out during spoken exams. Initially, I tried memorising a script but that kinda screwed me up (lots of blanking) but I ended up stuttering a lot without one. I really want to push my grades up to 7, is there any recommended methodology for practicing? Also, is there any recommended way to plan out my time so that I can do this for both my English and Mandarin IO simultaneously (in a short amount of time given)?

This is how many of our evenings go: I (33F) come home from a 8 hour day of work, after getting the kids(5M, 4M) in the morning, working a job that I am in front of patients all day. I then need to start the laundry, do the dishes, care for the animals, unpack and repack lunches. My husband walks in the door and I acknowledge him usually with a ‘hey how was your day?’ Typically he vents about his day and I actively engage and listen. He never inquires about my day, but that’s besides the point. Usually, I am in the middle of the task and I have notorious RBF (resting bitch face) , despite being a typically cheerful person. He sees my face and then asks ‘what’s your problem?’ To which I respond ’nothing, just trying to get everything done so I can sit down later’. He will typically throw his hands up in frustration at this point - ‘you’re always mad’/‘another bad mood’/ ‘ you always have a bad day and take it out on us’ then I will as calmly as I possibly can say ‘I really am not mad I’m just doing the dishes’ .
Typically it escalates from there about how I’m always cleaning and not happy. It’s really hard to convince someone you’re not mad when they have decided that you are . I’m at a loss. I never even speak about my day (good or bad) for fear that it will spark some argument just like this. I have very seriously considered Botox for my RBF because it’s really taking a toll on me. Who looks happy while loading the dishwasher?

I’d love to hear your thoughts, suggestions, and if you think these characters are a good fit for the tone and themes of the SCP world.
Here’s a quick breakdown of each SCP:
SCP-4999 ("Iron Phantom")
- Object Class: Keter
- Description: Iron Phantom is a terrifying entity born from human emotions like fear, grief, and betrayal. With the ability to control life and death, manipulate reality, and instill fear, it is an unstoppable force. It also commands an army of shadows and can manipulate the dead.Abilities:
- Shadow Manipulation: Can control shadows to form attacks or traps.
- Chains of Hell: Drags individuals to hell and back, often leaving them mentally and physically scarred. The chains can also be used to bind and control people.
- Fear Aura: Instills intense fear in those nearby.
- Reality Manipulation: Forces victims to experience their worst fears or a manipulated future.
- Bonds of Chains: Grants control over individuals in exchange for their deepest desires or dreams, binding them to Iron Phantom as pawns. These chains can also be used to exert influence or manipulate others in dire circumstances.
- Puppet Master: Controls the dead as puppets for its own purposes.
- Object Class: Keter (Separate or extension of SCP-4999?)
- Description: Nightfang is a demonic creature bound to Iron Phantom, capable of copying itself and instilling terror with its monstrous presence. It serves as both a loyal companion and weapon, capable of manipulating fear and engaging in combat.Abilities:
- Shadow Shifting: Can manipulate darkness to change its appearance and movements.
- Terrifying Presence: Causes overwhelming fear in others and can mentally paralyze them.
- Nightmare Inducement: Can force others to relive their darkest nightmares, often rendering them unconscious.
- Duplication: Nightfang can create copies of itself, each with the same terrifying abilities. These duplicates can overwhelm opponents or split to perform tasks in multiple locations simultaneously.
- Fitting the SCP Lore: Do you think Iron Phantom and Nightfang fit within the tone and lore of the SCP universe? Are they too overpowered, or are there sufficient limitations in place for them to be believable?
