Hi all,
I just turned 30 a couple of months ago, thinking about my future with my family. My wife and I are beginning our first round of IVF, we bought a house near Fukuoka, got a big golden retriever, I'm happy as a pig in shit. However, I feel like in the near future it'll be time for me to consider a career change since life will become more expensive, and I believe I may have more opportunities available to me than I realize.
I worked for a year and a half at a small Japanese medical manufacturer, where I basically did a bunch of grunt work, but it got my Japanese to a pretty high level. Was making about 3.6M yen.
Then went to work for French IT startup expanding into Japan. Was one of the first four people on the ground, tasked with sales development. I did a great job, built our company some incredible connections and relationships. Salary was initially 6.0M yen, then went up to 9.0M yen + 1% commission on closed deals (ACV of 100,000 - 250,000 USD). So I was making great money. My Japanese is native level at this point, I have hundreds and hundreds of hours of client facing experience, both in-person and online, doing demonstrations and building deals. My last few months I was clearing something like 500,000 - 600,000 yen. Was here for a year and a half.
Unfortunately, some family circumstances took me out of Tokyo to Fukuoka. I had to take a job in finance but I don't think the skills will be very transferable. I'm doing well and am in the process of being promoted. Just waiting for final approval from our overseas HQ. Initial salary was 4.5M yen, but with overtime comes out closer to 5.5M, now my new base will be 5.5M and with overtime, will come closer to 6.6-6.7M. I want to stay here for at least another year, maybe year and a half so I'll have three years of total experience. My previous jobs were all short lived and I'm sick of jumping so quickly.
While the money is great here in Fukuoka, I feel like having sales experience and full bilingualism might afford me more opportunities. I have a little more ambition in me that I want to embrace, so I can maybe built wealth that will last beyond me. I come from nothing and I don't want my family to have to worry like my parents did when I was a kid.
Problem is, not sure what I should do next. I don't really want to go back into sales development (finding new opportunities, building deals from scratch, calling and emailing warm/cold leads). I'm good at finding pain point and presenting solutions. Getting other stakeholders involved and understanding buying processes, etc. But I'm not sure if sales is the only option for me. I feel like consulting, customer success, maybe even project management if I get certifications?
Anyone have any idea

I have created a custom space tabletop RPG, called "War Cosmos" where the goal is to take down different enemies such as bad dudes, evil bots, and evil women. you accomplish this by using space blasters, which are powerful science fiction weapons, such as pocket pulse blasters, carnage mx11s, and LM2 laser rifles. the setting is in sector 34, a solar system moderately far from Earth, in a far future universe where nuclear fusion is ubiquitous, and people fly spaceplanes from 1 planet to another. there are 6 classes to choose from, assault class, specialist class, drone agent class, army medic class, infantry class, and jetpack guy class. another feature is the aircraft system: you can fly an enormous amount of aircraft, from VTOLs to interceptor jets and Guardian 2 stealth choppers constructed by Nexus Corporation.

Hello! So this is the very first time that happened to me after several years of having Converge as our internet provider.
Paid last Jan 15 via credit card in BPI app and the payment is still not reflected (on the GoFiber app and on their system as well upon calling).
Unfortunately, I don’t have the screenshot upon the time of payment but only have transaction history in my BPI app (which doesn’t have timestamp)
What is my best course of action here? I already called BPI and filed a ticket in converge and until now no resolution. It seems the constant follow up thru their channels (twittemessengeclick to call) is not effective.
Note: yes I know I should have a screenshot of payment - this was the 1st time I didn’t do it and idk why
And yes will pay from Gofiber app from now on
So please advise me the next course of action. Should I email NTC already or request refund from BPI and cc BSP?

I (40sM) live on Long Island with my wife (40sF) and our two kids (both under 10). My wife grew up here, and most of her family still lives nearby. She’s very close to her family, which makes this hard to even think about, but I’ve reached a point where I feel like I can’t stay here anymore.
To put it bluntly, I think her family (aside from her mom) are Nazi sympathizers. They’re diehard Trump supporters, but it goes far beyond that. They excuse or outright defend white supremacy, spread hateful rhetoric, and openly support ideologies that align disturbingly close to what I’d call fascism. They may not call themselves Nazis, but their behavior and beliefs make it hard to see them as anything else.
I feel sick having to sit in the same room with people like this, and I can’t stomach the idea of raising our kids around them. I don’t want my children to grow up in an environment where hate, ignorance, and extremism are normalized. I can already see how her family brushes off their behavior as “just political differences,” but I don’t see this as political—it’s moral.
It’s not just her family, either. The entire community we live in feels hostile to anyone who doesn’t share far-right extremist views. I don’t feel safe here, I don’t feel welcome, and I’m miserable. It’s suffocating to be surrounded by people who would rather double down on hate than show compassion or common decency.
On top of that, my wife has a job that doesn’t seem to make her happy. She works as a specialist in education at a public school and has to deal with constant stress, a long one-hour commute, and a system that seems broken and undervalues its staff. I don’t know for sure what opportunities would be available to her if we moved, but I feel like a fresh start in a new area might help her find something more fulfilling.
For months, I’ve been thinking about asking her to move with me and the kids to the Seattle area. Seattle feels like the kind of place where our family could thrive. It’s progressive, inclusive, and full of people who share our values. I want to live somewhere I feel safe—where I don’t have to worry about my kids being exposed to extremist views and where I can actually breathe without feeling the weight of hate around me.
Seattle also appeals to me because of its proximity to Canada. With the way things are going in this country, I think it’s smart to have an option nearby if the political climate continues to deteriorate. I hope it doesn’t come to that, but I want my family to have a way out if it ever does.
Financially, I think this move could work. The real estate market on Long Island is red hot right now, and we could sell our house for top dollar. That would let us buy a great home in Seattle and start over in a place that isn’t so toxic. I work remotely, so I wouldn’t have to change jobs immediately, and I know Seattle has a strong job market if I ever needed to find a local role.
I haven’t brought this up to her yet because I know how close she is to her family. I worry that asking her to leave them would make me the bad guy, even though I feel like staying here is unsustainable. I don’t think I can keep pretending to be okay with this environment, and I don’t think this is the kind of place we should be raising our kids.
So, WIBTAH if I asked my wife to move across the country with me to escape her family and build a better life in Seattle? Or should I just stay quiet and try to endure this for the sake of her connection to her family, even if it’s making me miserable?
Also, if anyone has insight into job opportunities for a specialist in education in the Seattle area, I’d appreciate your input. Could this move be good for her too?
