New account just because I know my family stalks my regular one. Basically I’m just looking for encouragement.
I am the oldest child and definitely the scape goat of my family. I got straight A’s, graduated college in three years, got a job, got married, had a kid. I did everything by the book and yet it was never good enough. I have found through years of therapy that my mon is a narcissist. When I would do one little thing wrong, she would ignore me for weeks. I would get called names and physically smacked around and then get gas lit saying I was making her feel like the bad guy.
When my daughter was born, I saw my mom repeating these behaviors with my kid, and at that point I went no contact. By association, most of my siblings don’t talk to me, even though they fully admit my mom is messed up. I even had a conversation with my dad once where he basically admitted that everything my mom did was wrong but there’s nothing he would do about it.
I don’t regret my decision. I was in therapy for a long time and I am doing well in life. But does it ever go away? I’m a 30-something year old man who has been no contact with his parents for 11 years, but some nights I just really miss my mom. I feel so stupid being a grown man wanting his mom, when she was so terrible to me. My wife loves me and supports me but she doesn’t get how this feels or hurts. Does anyone else feel this way. I won’t reconnect with them but man some nights it is tempting.

He got me into overwatch and no longer plays it with me, he plays his horror games which I don't mind but then he plays them with headphones and then tries to talk to me about it. I really want to visit here because of how many dramas were filmed there but is there an actual convenient way to get there from Seoul? Is it just bus/taxi hoping? I will be with my spouse and 9 year old so it feels a bit much to ask them to do 8-9 hours of round trip traveling for my sake. I knocked most of my bucket list off the last time I was in Korea but I missed this one for the same reason then, too far out.
