2025.01.22 01:13 hung-out-to-dry I inherented a Woodson PA system and a knob is locked
 | First specs: The reverb speaker is a Woodson, model 2-12 WM, serial no WS 7102. Picture 1 and 2 The mixer is an Ace Tone VM-80 Professional serial no FH 033091. Picture 3 I have 2 more Woodson speakers (model 2-12W) that look identical to the reverb speaker except that they do not have any knobs on them, only a single 1/4" input . They work great with the mixer and no issues with them. Not Pictured My issue is, on the reverb speaker, the knob will not turn at all. I can pull the knob cover off and attempted to spray it with WD 40. No movement at all besides the tiniest bit if machining slop. The mixer has a warning on it about "The reverb unit is equipped with a lock. To operate, make sure the unit is unlocked." There are no visible knobs or switches anywhere on the speakers themselves. And Google has been of no help. Apparently, the Woodson Brand was only around sometime in the 60s and 70s. Any idea what this could mean? Hello so I’m writing here in hope to get some factual advices or just different opinions because my friends and family are as lost as me because both have their pros and cons. lol So I’m a French 31yo female, that came to the U.S. at 19yo to study hospitality and tourism because I love traveling and eager to see the world. But being a mom of a 9 and 3 years old makes it hard especially financially to do so lol.
Long story short, my jobs in the U.S. have always been in offices. Got laid off from APPLE last year and wanted to try different industries, something else than a 9-5 office job.
I have always been interested into working at the airports or in hotels So I applied as an FA position for Delta and got to the F2F interview back in November but didn’t get selected.
Then got hired by a contractor for a Customer Service agent position at the airport without knowing would be for Spirit airline… but let’s say that the experience disappointed me… probably because it was during thanksgiving and Christmas season and I had to work for the first time on weekends and holidays, really early and really late, being yelled at by unhappy customers and And missed out on so much with my kids, Got to the point where I was actually glad I did not become a flight attendant because I realized how much I missed being there for my babies, even though my husband is wonderful at that but yeah it was hard for me to enjoy it even though my coworkers were wonderful and very supportive.
I left and started applying elsewhere and got two offers. One as a full time quality engineer for ServiceNow, with a contractor and a contract of 6 months (might be renewed but nothing sure) really good pay but no benefit. Very chill and easy
The other one is as Customer service agent again at the airport but for Alaska Airlines. Part time but with benefits, and Union and especially travel benefits ! Which plays a lot for me as I would be able to go home more often for free or very cheap.
The thing is, as of now my family and I could really use the money right now, and the flexibility of the job from home for me to be more present for the kids, theirs activities etc But the future is uncertain. Even though this position in AI just opened and looks like they will need us for a little while.
And the other hand, the job at the airport will require me to be available pretty much at any time they want me to. Which is hard for us because my husband works at the hospital so tbh odd hours too. Thankfully we have his family to help with the kids but you get the idea. Also it scares me a little because during my time with Spirit I had no life besides work and felt very stressed especially when the customers talked to me like shit. I know the job itself will still be the same but maybe it will be different since the airline is better with better service and organization? Everyone tells me I started with the worst. But Not sure what to think though. Maybe the travel benefits will make up for the hard times?
Also, I got laid off twice since I’ve been in the U.S. so I’ve always said I want something that’s for sure, something stable and start my career. So I feel like Alaska would be a good opportunity for that. But when I was working at the airport with Spirit, and I wanted was to find something from home or in offices again because I missed when life was just easier, because I think I kind of got used to it.
So right now I accepted both but I will need to take my decision in 2 days.
I feel like the job from home is the way to go as of now, for the kids especially and financially but will be stressful again in a couple months or years when it’s time to find another job unless the company itself hires me.
And I feel like Alaska airlines would be stressful work/life balance right now especially in the beginning during the probation period but will get easier and better pay with time and looks like something stable.
I keep thinking about the pros and cons but the list doesn’t end and I’m losing my mind lol. So if you have any advice or know anything about these two companies please share with me :)

I accidentally tore my Suzuki Savage's vaccuum line. I was going to get a replacement, but then I decided now may be the time to just go ahead with the Yamaha Raptor 660 petcock replacement.
So I went searching and the best I could find online is for about $35 and free shipping. There seems to have been a time when we could get an OEM Raptor 660 Petcock on ebay for $17-19 with free shipping. Can I still get an OEM Raptor at that price??

I'm having a crisis sort of, because I don't know if I can listen to or be accepted into the MCR community fully, if my political views are more leaning towards the right. I have a 7 week old that I would like to begin starting a bedtime routine with soon, and I keep seeing that reading a book to them is a common suggestion. Is this more about them spending time with you and hearing your voice? Or does the content of the book actually matter? I figured if i’m going to take the time to do this i might as well read something I’m interested in if its more about the baby just spending time with the parent and hearing their voice, unless bedtime reading should be more interactive and fun for the baby instead by reading a baby book? How long do you read to your baby each night?

But I’m still trying to save them So far I’ve use dawn dish soap with water but that didn’t help them I used captain jack neem oil but I feel as if that burned my plants now I’m looking into getting nematodes and diatomaceous hopefully it helps if you have any ideas that would help tooo! I am setting up a website for myself. I made a free Wix one that I'm fairly happy with except the free domain names are long and complicated, so I wanted to purchase one that was simpler. Because I failed to do much research when trying to set up my website, I went ahead and purchased a GoDaddy domain name that I wanted (which was fairly cheap) thinking it would also allow me to build a website. Turns out I had to pay for a subscription to build the site, so I did that thinking I could reproduce my Wix site but it turns out I wasn't happy with the GoDaddy templates. Anyway I cancelled all my GoDaddy purchases and got a refund however now my desired domain name is no longer available. How long will it take for it to become available again, so I can upgrade my Wix account to include my desired domain name? I contacted GoDaddy and they wanted to charge me $200 to reinstate it which seemed pretty unfair. Somewhere I read said it takes 30 days and then another five. Does this sound right? Thanks.
