I'm so confused on what exactly intelligence is. I initially thought intelligence was considered to be a measure of someone's knowledge, as in their understandings. However, I hear a lot of talk about intelligence as if it includes someone's performance and capability, for example, one's digit span or attention span. These things are inextricably linked, and I think it's impossible to measure one without the other.
What even is intelligence, then, and why do we treat it like it's this real and science-based property of people? I don't feel like this is a meaningful or real measure of people's ability. It's a social construct, and I think society grants it so much meaning because it's a representation of someone's worth. It's purely an external measurement, it's how useful you are to society. But I thought intelligence was supposed to be internal. I thought it was a measure of one's intellect, not what they can provide to the external world.
How do I understand this? Is there really a concrete and universal definition?

Hi guys,
Sorry if this is a silly post in anyway - I'm new to all the technicals but am lost for support.
I recently signed up with TPG (clueless people sometimes I swear...) as I'll be finally moving out of my parents house in about a weeks time.
In my soon to be new home, I noticed the only internet connection was an NBN line straight from the NBN box outside coming straight through the wall and into the proposed computer room.
Despite buying my own modem (I purchased a pricey Asus DSL-AX82U AX5400), I asked TPG to send me a modem that had the capacity to connect directly into the NBN line as I noticed the ASUS modem did not have that connection - My intentions were to then connect my ASUS to that NBN specific modem to atleast use it as a router.
The sales lady assured me they will send a modem that can connect directly to the NBN line; Lo and behold, I get sent a crappy tp-link modem that canNOT connect directly to the NBN line.
Is there perhaps an adapter or any other way I can connect directly to the NBN line or does it HAVE to be through those NBN-line specific modems??
So stressed. I tried calling only wait for almost 30 minutes on hold; I just hung up.
