Hey guys,
I just got fired from Home Depot, but along the way, I’ve learned a few things. If I could go back and give some advice to myself as a rookie, I'd say a few things:
- Your Hard Work Might Go Unnoticed
- Just because you go above and beyond—helping customers, stocking shelves perfectly, or being the best in your department—doesn’t mean it will be recognized or rewarded. It’s a tough pill to swallow, but it teaches you to work hard for yourself and take pride in your efforts, even when others don’t acknowledge them.
- Don’t Rely on Others to Solve Your Problems
- One of the hardest lessons I learned is that you can’t count on others to follow through, even when it’s their job to help you. I spent almost a year calling, emailing, and meeting with HR to request a transfer, only to be ignored or given empty promises. While it’s frustrating, this experience taught me to be persistent, self-reliant, and proactive. Sometimes, you have to find your own solutions when others won’t step up.
- Management Makes or Breaks the Job
- A supportive and organized management team can make a tough job bearable, while poor management can make even the best efforts feel pointless. It’s a reminder of how important leadership is in any workplace.
- Fairness Isn’t Real
- In retail, things aren’t always fair. Managers will have favorites, and some employees may get away with things that others don’t. It’s frustrating, but it taught me an important lesson: life isn’t fair, and instead of wasting energy on things you can’t control, focus on what you can—like your own work ethic and how you respond to challenges.
- Your Worth Is Bigger Than Any Job
- I often felt invisible, replaceable, and like my efforts didn’t matter. It was a tough experience, but it taught me an important truth: your value doesn’t depend on how others treat you. Sometimes, workplaces won’t see your worth, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t valuable. It’s a reminder to seek out environments where you’re respected and appreciated—and to never let a job make you question your self-worth.

2025.01.22 07:05 JayFireGrowlithe Got my first set of trays on two weeks ago & switched to my second just a little over midnight, forgot how tight they were
Started this process on the 8th of this month, 26 trays in 10 months predicted for the teeth look I'm going for and as time went on I got used to the tray, I even took what some said in regards to advice and not let myself be so strict (I usually hit 22 hours, but sometimes I hit 20-21 at most when I let myself be a little lenient with food thanks to using Trayminder). As time went on, I stopped hating wearing them for pain reasons and eventually they were just there. Still hate them as an extremely skinny grazer tho. :UUU
22th today as I type since I'm said to do switches every two weeks, I decide "Let's make this easier and do a nightly tray switch" like I've seen folks here say they do. So I pop my trays out, I had already brushed for the night and didn't eat again so I can afford to do an immediate switch, grabbed my second set, put them in bc I had gotten the hang of doing that...
I had literally forgotten how tight these things were upon wearing them the first time bc holy crap I REALLY got used to the first set. They do fit putting them on, so I clearly was supposed to bc I can snap them on in under a minute if done right, and they don't hurt bc IG I got used to the discomfort in my mouth, but jesus two weeks is a lot of time for your teeth to be cool with these it looks like.
