Hello! I'm a bit new to the world of sound equipment outside of headsets and guitar amps. I installed a projector against a wall and a ceiling, right above the couch of my gaming room, and I LOVE it. However, the sound is quite poor, and I'm looking for solutions to improve that. I'm trying to stay away from anything that's to be installed on the floor, I have a cat that *loves* to chew at wire, so keeping them out of his reach is ideal. My original thoughts were to install two speakers, one on each side of the projector, but I'm wondering two things.
- Where should I start looking? What sort of speakers would be best for that kind of setup? Ideally, I'm looking for something light and not too big, as I want to keep some room to maneuver around the projector when needed. I'm not looking for mindblowing audio quality, as it's going to mostly be used to watch anime, memes, average youtube content and play games, but it'd be nice if it delivered good sound for background music and karaoke.
- How much better would the sound be if I installed the speakers on the wall opposite to the projector? I'd like to avoid having to run wire on the ceiling for aesthetic reasons, but if the payoff is good, I'm willing to reconsider.

Hi. I'm 50 and started playing mandolin at 48. The entire venture has been an experiment in learning complex tasks at Middle age. I have been paying very close attention to the changes that are happening in my mind and body as I learn music. I have been watching as my sensory awareness expands.
It seems as though I am growing nerves where I did not have them before. When I started, I could not play without dropping the pick. I absolutely couldn't hold it tightly and loosely at the same time. I couldn't feel the strings at all. I could barely sense the pick touching the strings until it became stuck in them. This is amazing. Does anyone know specifically what is happening in the brain that causes this?
I'm wondering if anyone would like to talk about this. Clearly everyone experiences this as they develop mastery. Can you talk about how it all went down? Have you noticed any other changes since you started learning?
In closing I will tell you one really weird thing I am noticing. Before I started playing music, when I looked at a spinning object such as a ceiling fan or the wheel of a vehicle moving at a modest speed, I would see a blur. Now when I look at such things... They stop. Rather, my mind produces automatic freeze frame snaps of the motion. So instead of the blur I see snap, blur, snap, blur, snap, etc. Weird.
Let's discuss. Especially interested in hearing from middle aged learners but all are welcome to comment.

So I was just playing some marvel champions and Iām using Peter Parker Spider-Man, Flash Thompson Venom, Miles Morales Spider-Man, and Gwen, Stacy Ghost Spider when I noticed something strange. Peter Parker and Flash Thompson have spider senses as a usable abilities. Granted, itās an Amazing ability and I can understand why Peter would have it but Flash Thompson is another question. And when I really thought about it neither Miles nor Gwen have that ability in their kit. Heck, none of the web warriors besides Peter have that ability. Does anyone know the reason why?

I, 27 years old, just suffered a missed miscarriage and had to use medication to move forward with a miscarriage at 8weeks pregnant. This was the decision after two ultrasounds with no fetal heartbeat. This also comes after suffering a chemical pregnancy in October. I have anxiety, depression, and OCD so I am struggling with the impending doom feeling that I am simply not good at the one thing my body was allegedly biologically made to do. I am also struggling with the fact that the answer to my questions could be found in testing that I simply cannot have until I try (and possibly go through this same process again and again) for a year. Iām sad about the loss but I am MORE depressed that my body seems so bad at this. I donāt have anyone in my family (or my husbands) who has experienced this so I felt very isolated.
I was previously on birth control for 12 years and we started trying in August. So I know that the reality is it could still happen. But the āwhat ifsā are driving me crazy. Has anyone else felt this way or experienced this type of mental hurdle? I would love and welcome some outside input from people who have been through this.
