After using my homelab for about half a year with a VPN I decided to expose some services directly. I am aware of the security implications and not looking for people saying I should no do it at all or just use cloudflare. I have reasons for not doing both. I have gotten valuable input in my last thread and hope to repeat get that again for my next question.
My currently planned (and almost ready) setup: Only open port 433 to a traefik as reverse proxy, authentikation and authorization handles by authentik. Crowdsec is running and the usual traeik hardening is done (for more details see my other post).
I am now thinking of renting a cheap VPS, spinning up a reverse proxy there and doing a site-to-site VPN to my home server. That would eliminate the need to open any ports at home and I also think it would be another layer of security especially for DDOS before anything can hit my home server.
Is that a valid idea or is it just another over-complication and additional point of failure?

My (22F) ex (23M) reached out to me 3 months after he broke up with me. I didn’t want the relationship to end and I tried everything to get him back after the break up. Called him multiple times. Sent him a long letter. I even showed up at his place but he didn’t change his mind. He told me he needs time and I could reach out to him after a few weeks. I did that and asked for a normal phone call to catch up. That was 6 weeks ago and I did not get a response so I left him alone. Now he suddenly calls and tells me how bad he has been doing. He tells me I’m the love of his life and I’m the best thing that has ever happened to him. He says he can’t eat and take care of himself and he has been thinking about me every day since we broke up. However he still doesn’t want to get back into a relationship. I asked him why but his reasons were very vague and he told me he doesn’t want to talk about it and just wants to have a normal call. We had a very nice talk and after he texted me how much he enjoyed it and that I can call him any time. We texted for two days (just about ordinary things) but now he hasn’t replied in over a day. I know he got my texts and he’s always on his phone and used to reply quickly during our relationship.
What does all of this mean? His statements don’t add up and I simply don’t understand why he reached out. How do I go on from here? I want him back so badly. I thought about calling him today to dig deeper and ask him about his reasons for the break up again but I feel stupid since he hasn’t replied to my messages.

Hi, US tourist/East Asian looking here.
I landed in Tacloban airport and asked the girl in front of the D.O.T. signs about a bus to Maasin.
She sent me with a lady who handed me off to a guy with a van and he started driving me. I kept saying I wanted the 400 peso shared trip to Maasin. I maybe made a mistake and told him I was going to Padre Burgos.
He dumps me off (30 minute walk from the airport) with a group of guys and ~3 vans. Tells me one is going to Sogod and I can transfer to Padre Burgos. Asks 400 pesos from me and I pay… slowly realizing this other group is going to ask me to pay for the actual trip to Sogod.
They finally fill a van after ~30min and it’s to Bato instead of Maasin. The guy takes 500 pesos from me. Tells me I’ll need another 100 to Maasin, then 40 for Padre Burgos.
I got taken for a ride right? I should have stayed at the airport and tried to find a van getting filled for Maasin, yes? Or taken a taxi to the terminal in Tacloban to try for another van to Maasin/Sogod? Dumping me outside the airport in such a vulnerable place was a scam? Or is this normal?
