2025.01.22 14:58 BrickOfCheddar Looking for an old game with clouds in it
Hi, I know this is the piracy subreddit but the main one wouldnt let me post wuestions unless i posted in the megathread full of unsolved questions, when I was young my older cousin would bring her 3DS and we would play this pretty game that had clouds as terrain, Im pretty sure there was also a bit of plants in it too, I also just remembered the use of "elevators" ig to move between platforms was there. Honestly even if you think you have an idea of what this could be please throw every game title at me because theres a chance it could be that one, basically just name every game that has ever had a terrain made of or partially of clouds in it with a bit of plants, im desperate to find the game and will take literally any possibility leads. For a reference as to how old the game is, I can confidently say at least 10 years possibly more.

2025.01.22 14:58 WritingtheWrite What will you be looking for in Davos?
The WEF is going on right now.
It's a lot of bull, but if there's anything particular that you want us to take note of, do tell in the comments.
Vijay Prashad gave a lecture a month ago where he mentioned that the World Social Forum originally represented an alternative. Sadly it's become dominated by western NGOs. Also the issues became NGO-ised, i.e. divided into little segments like "the water problem", "LGBT issues" etc. They didn't have a theory of the whole such as Marxism. The capitalists at Davos had no qualms about theorising the whole.
Remember the Russian pranksters who pretend to be Zelensky and record their calls with high-level western officials? They got Jay Powell once, and Powell said that the WEF is more about show than substance.

2025.01.22 14:58 B_A_Clarke [QCrit] Adult Fantasy DIPLOMAT'S GAMBIT (95k words, 2nd attempt)
An earlier draft of this query was posted many months back while I was still working on the first draft, and this one comes after a lot of rethinking (plus a new title) now I'm wrapping up the revision process. I've tried to add a bit more of the novel's/character's voice to it, but am concerned about that slightly bloating the length. Any tips and advice would be super helpful.
DIPLOMAT’S GAMBIT [95,000 words] is an adult political intrigue fantasy, stand-alone but with the potential for sequels. Taking place in a setting reminiscent of the Netherlands in the 18th century, it will appeal to fans of Seth Dickinson’s The Traitor Baru Cormorant and Arkady Martine’s A Memory Called Empire.
Mikhail Trubitskoy is a carouser, perfectly at ease wasting away his years drinking and gambling to his heart’s content. A disappointment to his father and reckless spender of the overbearing old man’s wealth. That is, until one night he is challenged to a duel – quite the overreaction to a little good natured ribbing – shot, and almost killed. For his family, it’s the last straw. A profession will force him to get a hold of himself, his father decides. Mikhail chooses the least objectionable option: he becomes a diplomat. The romance of it! To whisper in the ear of princes, speak for the King-Emperor of Vascasia, and enjoy all the pleasures of society away from his family’s prying eyes.
But, for a first assignment, he is sent to no rich empire or quiet backwater. No, he is sent to Daastrijn. A kingdom without a king, as the last one got himself killed in his own duel over a year gone. The fractious nobility still cannot decide who should replace him, each sure that they would look best in royal purple. It’s not as though there's a hurry: they’re only at war with their neighbour, who they accuse of orchestrating the regicide. A volatile mess. It’s the assignment no-one would ask for. Unless, perhaps, they had the wits and ambitions to use it. And if only they could stay sober long enough to understand it all or avoid betting the empire on a game of cards.
If the king’s murderer can be found, the whole knot might be unravelled. A shame no-one’s seen the man since that night. Mikhail resolved to be the first and sketches out the outlines of a conspiracy. But the closer he gets, the more dangerous his position. The death of a minor diplomat would count for admittedly little compared to regicide. Yet the war must be stopped before it escalates, or it threatens to drag in Mikhail’s home. He will outmanoeuvre politicians, uncover a murder, survive an assassination, unmask a conspiracy, flirt with romance, and end a war. And maybe, by the end of it all, he’ll have even made something of himself.
I'm also including the first 300 words, taken from the prologue, for critique.
The king raised his pistol and Joseph stared down its barrel. The man behind it wore a comfortable smile. The man it pointed at had to fight not to fall to his knees. But if he could keep to his nerve just a little longer, he would be a hero. The saviour of his country. The thought fortified him.
Joseph raised his own piece. The scratch rifling had been a risk, but the king’s second was as young as His Majesty. Inexperienced enough not to notice. And to miss the shot was unconscionable. Both adjusted their aim, just a little to the side. Enough to fire wide. Or so His Majesty believed.
‘Fire!’ shouted King Frederick’s second.
The moment stretched to eternity. And then the royal pistol discharged. Lord Joseph il’Basione flinched, almost tightening his grip on his trigger and ruining everything. The king had fired wide, as agreed. All was to plan.
As calmly as he could manage under the circumstances, Joseph adjusted his aim once more. Frederick III’s brow scrunched and he opened his mouth but never found the words. Joseph fired.
The royal personage slumped to the ground, its face already losing colour. Joseph watched it. Watched the king die – not his king, but the charge of regicide cared little for national loyalties. He fought to control himself. His eyes flicked to the witnesses – the king’s second, and his own, and the physician. They were stunned wordless. He threw the empty pistol to the ground. And then he fled.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and for any feedback you're able to give.

2025.01.22 14:58 Drakoniid What made you decide to become game devs, and how your career started ? - Devs answered
As the title implies, someone over Discord asked the devs for this question, and I felt like the answers were so interesting they would benefit from being posted here.
If you have similar questions for Funday Games, not directly tied to the game progression, come over to the Discord and shoot them in #ask-the-devs !
Here's the answers
"It was either this or making cartoons for me, and I enjoy games more as a story telling device. Interactivity is a huge thing for me, and having people run around, exploring my art and designs from multiple angles is effing awesome. I started out as concept artist at an ad company, but transitioned into more of a 3D modeling and technical artist as the years passed. Love me some maths with my art." - Allan, Artistsubmitted by Drakoniid to DRGSurvivor [link] [comments]
"I didnt learn programming until halfway through University when I was made aware of Unity, which allowed you to make games. I had always just assumed that you couldnt just "make games" yourself. I didnt really enjoy programming at all, at the time. Games changed that. After Uni I got an unpaid intern position with a small indie studio for about 5 months (one of those studios that shuffles interns in and out, to get free labour, good stuff). I also worked on a small mobile game in my spare time. The game I worked on during the day never shipped while I was there, but I managed to publish my own small game on Google Play working nights and weekends. This achievement helped get me a job at Funday Games when the company was just 2 or 3 people. After some years at Funday, Heeger (The game director of Survivor) was hired, and after some years of working together we realized that I had inherited some of his code at that indie studio, because he had been through the same thing a few months earlier. Small world 🙂" - Martin, Lead Developer
"I started out wanting to become an animator or level designer. I was heavily inspired by watching behind the scenes stuff on World Of Warcraft development.€ *But i had a hard time starting on animation and did not see any progress in my drawing and gave up and started to look in the direction of programming. I started as a software engineer student at University and FAILED HARD. Thought programming was not for me and ended up switching education track to something more focused on UX. But that education was a mess so i switched to another design education where i ended up programming a lot. I then went back an took a software engineering bachelor. During my Software Bachelor i started on a part time education regarding Game Production. One of the people teaching is Jacob the Game Producer on Survivor. I then later on meet him at a social event for game developers and ended up talking to him there where he told me that Funday needed programmers and that was my hook into a job interview and that is how i got hired by Funday which is my first job in the game industry 🙂. So a lot of trial and error of finding my way and some networking '" - Simon, Developer
2025.01.22 14:58 PearsonKnifeWorx Lost my job. Now what?
I was a chef for most of my life. I decided to get out and by you're chance I found an appliance repair apprenticeship. I thought finally, I've finally found something outside restaurants that is viable. I've just got a get through the hard part.
The apprenticeship was 3 months. I did time in the field with a master tech. I passed the Master Samurai course with a 98%. Everything was going great.
2 months ago I went out on my own. Start with 4 jobs a day and move up from there as you get comfortable. The first month was rough. I made a lot of mistakes. I thought I was no good at this. I was seeing things id never seen. Misdiagnosing. Screwing things up left and right. I was assured this happens just push through it.
So what I started doing was between each job I would stop at a gas station and sit and do research on my next job. I'd search error codes, common solutions, disassembly instructions, ECT ECT, so that I could be prepared coming into the home.
Things started to get better. I wasn't making as many mistakes. I was getting faster, I was up to 6 jobs a day, I was making money. I thought things were finally clicking.
Until I got called into the office yesterday. Our HR person told me she had evidence I'd been "Robbing the company of time" and they were letting me go immediately. Talking about my research stops. I tried to explain myself, but she didn't care. She acted as though I was lucky she didn't call the police. And had me escorted off the property. Took my keys. Locked my van. Wouldn't let me get any of the tools I had bought. And sent me walking to the nearest business that would let me inside in -20 degree weather.
Now I don't know where to go from here. I was finally out. Finally doing something I liked and that paid well. And I screwed it up. Maybe I should have clocked out each time I stopped. Maybe I should have just kept struggling until it clicked for me. I don't know. All I know is that I've got just enough experience to know that I know nothing. Other appliance places want at least a year experience. I don't know enough to fake my way through it.
I guess I'm not really asking for advice. Just venting. I'll push forward. I'll make something work in this industry or another. I was just so excited when things started to click. And then the rug got pulled.

2025.01.22 14:58 Kc-Ha Paris Concert
Hello everyone! I have recently became an Atiny and have fallen completely in love with Ateez’s music, stage presence, and everything. That being said, i’ve gained so much FOMO from missing their US tour, and I have decided I can’t wait for them to come back. I decided to go to the Paris concert on the 22nd of February.
Is anyone else traveling solo to the concert? Does anyone have any advice for a new Atiny first Ateez concert (especially since it is abroad?)
Thank you in advance!

2025.01.22 14:58 TonyChanYT Is it a sin to desecrate a grave?
u/DawRogg, u/Ok-Future-5257, u/jogoso2014
When Sarah died, Abraham didn't just bury her under the sand. He bought a proper burial cave from Ephron the Hittite (Ge 23). Abraham was a nomad, yet he wanted a permanent burial place.
De 21:
22 If a man has committed a crime punishable by death and he is put to death, and you hang him on a tree, 23 his body shall not remain all night on the tree, but you shall bury him the same day, for a hanged man is cursed by God. You shall not defile your land that the LORD your God is giving you for an inheritance.Show respect for a dead body, even for a criminal. Bury him on the same day.
15 Moreover, the altar at Bethel, the high place erected by Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, that altar with the high place he pulled down and burned, reducing it to dust. He also burned the Asherah. 16 And as Josiah turned, he saw the tombs there on the mount. And he sent and took the bones out of the tombs and burned them on the altar and defiled it, according to the word of the LORD that the man of God proclaimed, who had predicted these things.Josiah did not respect the bones and the tombs. M1 prophesied that centuries ago.
17 Then he said, “What is that monument that I see?” And the men of the city told him, “It is the tomb of the man of God [M1] who came from Judah and predicted these things that you have done against the altar at Bethel.”Josiah respected M1's tomb.
18 And he said, “Let him be; let no man move his bones.” So they let his bones alone, with the bones of the prophet who came out of Samaria. There was no explicit command against desecrating a grave. There was general respect for the dead bodies, their bones, and their tombs.
