2025.01.22 15:56 Careless-Truck-5226 Started a home practice in my bathroom (venting on why)
I’m going through some shit in life and I was using hot yoga studios to stop isolating- I met many nice older women that helped me a good bit. I saw myself the other day just being a people pleaser and realized I’m only having one sided convos and no one is asking me about my life or anything about me. My boundaries haven’t been amazing and I’m often left drained and I actually don’t want to be talking for a whole 20 min before class and 30 min after while showering.
I’m a weightlifter first so I’ve had to alter my life schedule- scheduling my day around a class then going to the gym for a 2 hour workout after. It’s exhausting bc I’m sitting in my car in freezing temps trying to eat and rehydrate.
Hot yoga is taking me about 2.5 hours commuting, the hour class, and showering after. Also, the people are draining my soul when I have almost nothing to give.
We had a huge storm the other day and it kept me inside for 4-5 days and I realized I love hot yoga and I want to do it alone for awhile or forever. I’ve done a home practice In the past and usually do 90 min not 60.
I could switch to another studio but I think I’m going to just focus on a home practice and do it when I’m avail to practice. Sat down for an hour to meditate then did 90 min hot yoga yesterday and realized I’ve been missing connecting to myself.
With that said, I love isolating too so while positive…it’s a slippery slope. Kinda over people rn.

My son is finishing his first year in Engineering. He needs to choose a specially next year- he is all over the place and of course the university has not provided any guidance outside of the Calculus, Physics, Chemistry realm. For those with their finger on the pulse what are upcoming Engineering fields? He is doing a combo degree because he also likes business- so perhaps a specialty one that can marry the two????

So I'm currently building a Jurassic Park fan expansion for my favorite board game, Zombicide. Yes, the idea is rather dumb, extinct dinosaurs brought back to life, being infected by a zombie virus and then being half dead again. But who cares? It's a personal project I'm having great fun creating.
Anyway, as a part of this I'm doing some research about items from the Jurassic Park franchise that could fit into the game. I'm thinking about stuff like:
- A flare (to avoid the T-Rex)
- A Barbasol can
- The ladle from the kitchen scene
I'm looking for tips on similar stuff, anyone got any ideas of items from the franchise that I could utilize? Or if there is a list available out there somewhere? It's not really important that they are recognizable for the general public, it's more about further increasing the theme and Jurassic Park feeling of the game.

Are there any standards or customs related to tipping in the boating community?
At my marina I tip the dock handlers for helping me to dock the boat. I also tip for the pump-out. For other tasks I also tip as well. For docking I tip $10 to each dock handler. For the pump-out I tip $20 for the month. I will soon be replacing the life raft and will likely tip the worker $10-20 for assisting me with the installation.
For the diver that does the monthly bottom cleaning I don't tip. This work while done at the marina is performed by a contractor and is separate from the marina. Likewise for other repairs and maintenance done at the marina by contractors, I also don't tip.
I know that these decisions, especially the amount, is somewhat arbitrary. I am looking for guidance.
I wonder if $10 is really sufficient. What can you buy with $10 these days?
Unlike the gig economy I believe the marina staff get a reasonable salary/wage. My purpose is generally to improve my relationship with the workers. For the contractors while I don't tip them, I try to be prompt in my payment and to be courteous of their time.
