Does anyone else seem to think it a major security issue that when logging into gmail on a new computer the default is to have the box marked to "Don't ask again on this device" on the 2-step verification? Shouldn't that option be something someone checks when they want to and not uncheck it if they don't want it for security reasons? Not to mention when I click "Try another way" because I don't have my phone with me it gives the option to use Google Authenticator (not any authenticator app like maybe Microsofts) and when I choose that option, again "Don't ask again on this device" is checked by default!? BTW Google, you don't need to use Google Authenticator...my Microsoft Authenticator works just fine. Little misleading.

It's my first time applying for the Schengen. I want to visit my friend in Netherlands and I will be staying with him. I want to know should I apply for a single entry or multiple entry visa? I'd be nice to have a multiple entry visa as that means I can visit him again without needing to apply for a new visa. Also should I apply for a tourism or friends/family visa.
I also have a B1/B2 so am wondering if that is going to make my case any stronger.

I have no friends and have almost forgotten to have non chalant or casual talks with people. I'm day by day becoming more shy version of myself but also want to escape, but I get overwhelmed by seeing others that they are so casual and connect with others so easily. In my workplace I don't have much people of my age. So I want to socialize, pubs are no for me as I m a teetotaler and non smoker. Im living life like a monk lol, despite of being in a vibrant profession, I'm working in tech. Any places where I can find people of my age to socialize considering I'm very shy natured and always in dilemma whether to talk to someone or not.

I (30F), have a healthy reproductive system and can most likely have children (never really checked it out, just assuming). I suck at dating and have basically accepted the fact that it won't happen for me. So I have given myself a personal deadline, if I dont get married, have kids, etc by 35yrs old, i'm just going to do it on my own. I know I still have time, but these thoughts are always in the back of my mind.
CONTEXT
Ever since I was little I've always wanted to adopt children. I've always wanted kids, but I have never physically wanted to have them because i can't bring myself to "bring someone into this world" when i dont think its a great world. I'd rather save a suffering child in foster care. If it is up to me im adopting all my future children. My mom on the other hand has a completely different opinion. She is of Boomer mindset and thinks birthing blood children is the only way to go. She also feels that I will regret not having kids- i dont feel that my body will regret this at all! As at the end of my mom having 3 kids she suddenly developed Diabetes, thyroid, fibromyalga, lupus, and HUGE BOOBS. I also dont think i'll regret this at all because i lowkey hate babies. Children after 2 yrs old- love them, infants-hate them. My mom seems to think i will change my mind if i have my own infant, but im very positive if i birth my only child, i wont like them for the first few years. This is creating a huge divide between my mother and I, and I really dont want it to. Her main argument for not wanting me to adopt is "you dont know where they came from or whats wrong with them", to which i argue the same goes for rescuing a dog from a shelter and we still do that.

2025.01.22 15:42 mL2312 Calling off on a snow day
Am I wrong for calling off of work today? We had about 8 inches of snow. And where I’m from, we never get snow. Like it never sticks. I was on my way to work this morning when my car started sliding all over the roadway and I almost crashed twice. My job is 45 minutes from my house. I called my lieutenant to see what the policy was about deputies picking up county employees to bring them to work because at that point, I wasn’t going to drive anymore and risk getting into a crash. LT told me they won’t send a deputy out because I live in another county. So she told me to call when it’s daylight and we can touch base about me coming to work. I said okay. So I called around 8AM and she asked me if I was coming in to work today. I told her I’m still trying to see if someone can bring me but I will call her with a sure answer. She said okay. So I called her back around 9 and told her I couldn’t come in because I didn’t have anyone to bring me and I wasn’t going to run the risk of getting into a car crash when I live 45 minutes away. She said okay that’s fine.
I feel guilty for not coming in to work. She didn’t seem mad or upset that I wasn’t going, but I do because I know I was capable of working today, but I just didn’t have anyone to bring me to work and she already told me no one would come get me. The bottom of my car was literally scraping the road and I had snow all under my bumper and tires.
Did I do the right thing by calling out?
