I have a (spayed) 1.5yo female Maine Coon who has a tendency to eat everything except her food!
I joked about getting pet insurance after her first incident. But now I'm realizing, I need it! The problem is, I think she has a pre-existing condition so I am stuck on if insurance would even be worth it for us!
In July 2024 she ate a hairbow she found and could not pass it. She had to have an enterotomy performed to remove it.
After around two months later she ate a foam fake rose (about the size of the inner circle of your palm). But she luckily threw it up!
Then last month she ate the tail off of her robot mouse (roughly 6inches of silicone). And once again luckily passed it!
She has random phases (a week or so at a time) of not wanting her food/eating her food then throwing it back up when otherwise she is begging for it. And it's usually during these times she starts eating anything she finds interesting I guess!
She had another phase like that the first week of this month and we spent $500 just to be assured she did not in fact eat anything, and to be told she had esophagitis at the time. She went about two weeks doing great, and now she's not wanting to eat her food again/throwing it up!
I want to take her to a new vet and get a second opinion of why we have this whole cycle. But I was hoping I could get pet insurance first. But, would her enterotomy from last year and her recent special meal be considered a pre-existing condition and therefore anything moving forward related to that not be covered by insurance?
This turned out to be so long, sorry about that, just wanted to add context! Thank you guys for any advice in advance.

40F married to 42M for 2 years. We were both married and divorced with long term relationships previously. He blows up over the slightest disagreement, cussing at me and yelling in my face. He will rage for multiple days sometimes, depending on the fight. I can’t talk to him about my feelings because he takes it as an attack and it turns into a huge fight.
