Especially for those who have are looking to complete large reading goals, like 52 books in a year.
This is my first year trying to do 52 and I'm pretty ahead of my goal (5 complete so far, yay!). I just DNFd The Girl on The Train by Paula Hawkins at 60% because I couldn't slog through it and I'm starting to feel a little slump coming on. I'm also working through The Shards by Bret Easton Ellis; it's very good and more my style/pace but it's very long.
Any suggestions on what to do to stave off a slump? What've you done when you've felt like this, especially after DNFing a book?

 | i was using my cousin's copy of the game (pd2) through steam familly library, and recently bought my own copy of the game so i could have more DLCs and make it so we could play togheter. however, for some reason i can no longer use Jimmy, dragan, bodhi and others, not even upgrade their places at the safe house, and checking my cousin's copy of the game, he seems to have a dlc that is no longer in the shop, however i often see many low levels whit characters i cannot use anymore and could use before (ethan, hilla and scarface not included cause i never owned those). i soppose thats people that bought the same dlc my cousin has while it was available and then just reseted their accounts, tho i wanted to be sure of what happened and if there is still a way to use jimmy. secund question, i've found a big passion for shadow raid. i recently started learning allot more strats for stealth, and shadow raid is just such a cool heist! however, suddently i started getting a -x% of xp, that seems to grow each time i do the heist again. it started at 1% and itws currently at 7%. i find it sadenning that one of my favourite heists (if not the favourite heist) is becoming less and less rewarding. i dont care about the money as it is really not important at this point to me, i kill civs like i'd kill anyting else when i good whit bodybags or judge yeeting, but i like to get infamous, and now i have to choose to either do the heist or do another one that i dont like as much to get a decent xp. is there any way to stop this xp debuff? https://preview.redd.it/3bobkoafzlee1.png?width=300&format=png&auto=webp&s=75e0deb866ea117d10d6d8649d67aec22512a692 submitted by MEMEz_KB to paydaytheheist [link] [comments] |

Hi there! I have a trip that terminates in St Paul and I have a roomette ticket in a couple months. The only issue is I am scheduled to arrive at 8 am and would need to kill time to 5 pm. I’m not as worried about the time killing as it would be fun to explore the area and I’m pretty familiar with the transit in the twin cities.
My only concern is the luggage I will have with me. I know the lounge at the station is unattended as I have read that a few places, does that mean I wouldn’t be able to store my luggage there? And if I can’t do that, is there any good solution in the area that would be good for holding my luggage for the handful of hours I would like to explore? I would appreciate the help as it is my first ever train trip and this is really my only concern.

 | I really need some help. From March 2025 Playcentre Aotearoa will be changing to a branch agreement from the current set up. Centres will lose a lot of independence, especially in regard to control over decisions and specifically financials, with all funds having to be transferred to the larger pool. Each centre either has to agree to this change or close and relinquish EVERYTHING - funds, buildings, property/equipment, resources - to Playcentre Aotearoa as they apparently technically own it. For quick context, at the moment we receive funding for child attendance from the Ministry of Education. 50% goes to Playcentre Aotearoa and we get the rest to run the centre. We then fundraise or obtain grants for the remainder of our budget as the half funding isn’t enough. Ahead of this big change, it seems that all contractors and subcontractors have been emailed (attached) and told they have to complete Sitewise training at their expense for Health & Safety requirements, as a condition to be able to continue with their work. At present, these contractors will likely have their own H&S plans they adhere to. They have also already sighted our centre specific H&S hazard info and signed and dated to record they’ve seen and understand the risks. These largely relate to possible presence of asbestos and lead in older buildings. Surely this is enough? I belong to a small, rural Playcentre. Our options in terms of contractors is very limited. We have a local small business who we use for the odd handyman jobs - fixing locks on sheds, repairing a playhouse door, replacing non-slip matting on stairs, fixing sandpit cover, that type of thing. They very generously maintain our lawns and gardens for free. They can’t justify doing this Sitewise certification, which I understand. Especially as they don’t need it for any of the other work they undertake. I think it’s outrageous. Can they really be forced to do it? And if they don’t, can we really not use their services? Even the free ones? It may be important to note that they are never present when a session is being held. They only ever complete any work when there is no one else on site. I got my ears re-pierced 7 months ago (7 month old piercings now) after having them previously pierced for a few years. I waited for the old piercings to heal before doing so. The previous time I had it done, my ears were pierced with a piercing gun, they put in gold earring studs with a butterfly backing, and they never really healed and would bleed or hurt if I accidentally bumped it, etc. Yes, I maintained a good cleaning routine.
This time I went to a tattoo shop to get them pierced with a needle. They put in studs with a longer bar the twists on with a ball at the end. I clean them daily with saline solution and a q tip, mostly aftera shower so the dried crust or blood around it isn't too hard, and I'm very gentle. I have noticed I keep getting the "crusties" which I assume is lymphatic fluid, and occasionally I notice dried blood after I wake up in the morning. I don't sleep on my side, but I know I might be disturbing them in my sleep. I'm just wondering, is this the only reason they aren't healed?
They aren't hurting unless they get bumped, they are swollen or red, and I've also swapped out earrings when I had the previous piercing gun piercings with stainless steel, plastic, hypoallergenic metals, gold, silver, etc. I'm just not sure what's happening or what else to do.

I have extremely dry, dehydrated, rosacea-prone skin. It's not necessarily sensitive but definitely reactive. I'm revamping my skincare routine a little at the moment and can't decide between the two. They both sound amazing and there is lots of anecdotal evidence to suggest its redness-reducing and soothing benefits to the skin. Does anyone have a preference for either or? I could technically use both as my routine is quite streamlined but it seems a little redundant if they both do the same thing.
My current routine is;
AM --> Rinse with water, EqualRXN Cactus Ceramide Fortifying Milk, Niod Survival 0 and Haruharu Wonder Airy Fit SPF 50++++.
PM --> Krave Makeup Rewind, Prequel Gleanser, Real Barrier Porebium Waterlock Essence, Medik8 Crystal Retinal 3 (every other night), Dr Sam Flawless Intense Moisturiser and Skin Rocks The Support Oil.
I also use hypochlorous acid and Beekman 1802 Milkshake Facial Toner spray throughout the day.

(Hello! I hope this is an appropriate place to ask this question because foodsafety won’t let a new account make a post. Please forgive me if this doesn’t belong here!)
I just watched my husband pound a bag of raw chicken flat and then put the mallet, completely unwashed, directly back into the drawer where it lives with our spatulas, whisks and so on. I, horrified, confronted him about this. He got defensive and swears that a heavy duty ziplock freezer bag is strong enough to withstand a metal meat mallet beating. I pointed out that, while the bag isn’t ripping and tearing in a way we can see these flimsy single use plastics are prone to microtearing and now we have to clean all our utensils and the drawer out.
Who’s correct here. Is a heavy duty ziplock freezer bag a life hack to not having to wash your counters and tools off or are am I right in being super grossed out?
