Hello
While printing with my Sovol SV04 in dual mode, I'm encountering strange quality issues. Usually, the layers are much rougher when using dual mode, and I have no idea why. Now I realized, that within one print the layers vary greatly. In the bottom part, you can see in the picture that the surface is very rough. In the middle part, the surface gets much smoother and then towards the top, it is very rough again.
The white "main" material is PLA, the black is PETG support. When printing in single mode, the surface is usually more like the middle part. Not perfect, but acceptable for a cheap bedslinger.
Has anybody a guess, why the roughness of the surface varies that much?

 | I was replacing the batter on my copy of Pokemon ruby for the gba, and as I was removing the old solder from the motherboard I saw this capacitor appear out of nowhere. Can anybody help me figure out where it goes so I can put it back? 2025.01.22 20:45 Tough_Sprinkles_7693 1998 dodge ram 1500 V6 stalling after applying gas after stopping.
The other day I was driving about 30 minutes away and my truck started to overheat. I instantly pulled over and saw the coolant was very low so I put some in (I always keep some on me just in case) by the time I got to where I was going (abt 20 more minutes) it was back to almost empty and their was white smoke coming out of the engine bay. I popped the hood while it was running and their was coolant pouring out of my alternator bolt. When I left I put more coolant in it and stopped at the gas station to grab some more coolant to make sure I could get home. At this point it decided not to start back up. Got it to start after letting ether soak in the air intake, but it did not want to start. At the first red light it stalled out when I applied gas in 1st gear and we had to get it towed home. Fast forward to this morning and I changed the spark plugs, they where coated with carbon deposits. Started right up no problem, drove it around the naborhood and it stalled when I applied gas after stopping at the first stop sign I encountered. I again got it to start with either but just by the skin of my teeth. I just recently changed the fuel pump so I don't see why it could be that, their was white smoke coming out of the exhaust at startup but It is 40 degrees where I am at rn. Any help is appreciated. Hi everyone, earlier this month I got fired from my job. We had a sudden change in management and our new manager was not a fan of the relaxed environment our old manager created. She audited the whole dept throughly during bonus reviews and argued that because we were organizing our weekly survivor pool over teams on our 10 min breaks and using our lunch breaks to message one another about podcasts,movies,tv shows, etc. we were showing a lack of professionalism and misusing company resources, which breaks policy. When it was turn for my meeting, they told me that while they did have the option for a PIP they had also somehow become aware I was looking for other jobs and didn’t feel it was worth their time investing in me anymore if I wasn’t invested in them. I fully respect where she’s coming from. She just has a completely different management style and wants to work how the department was running to fit her style better. I just don’t fit within that style and I was planning on leaving eventually anyway. So that night I went home and I applied to every job possible. By the end of that week, I had scheduled two interviews. On my first interview, I was offered the job on the spot because I had the necessary licensing and I accepted it immediately because I have a car loan and student loans to pay by the end of the month. I went through with the other interview as I already had it scheduled with the intention of passing it up if offered, but when I saw the offer letter, it’s 20 K more a year and I wouldn’t have to work weekends anymore. Now I don’t know what to do. I’ve been working at this place for four days now and I really want to accept this new offer, but I’m scared. Would I be an asshole for quitting on my fifth day? Also, what if I take it and they do a more thorough check with my previous company than the place I’m at now and retract the offer because she tells them I got fired for cause? Then I have no jobs. I have no choice, but to list them as experience too because it was my first job outside of college and the only professional experience I have. Any advice would be great.

I'm over 10 years since diagnosis.
Went in for an eye exam as a 20 year old and the optometrist saw my pressures were quite elevated. Ended up seeing a neuro opthalmologist and over the course of a year started testing to rule out tumor, infections, etc. I took acetazolamide, lowered my salt intake, all the fun stuff.
The last test was a lumbar puncture and as you would expect opening pressure was high and no signs of infection. They drained some excess CSF as per my neuro's recommenation and I actually was in remission 3 months later.
10 years later I haven't had any symptoms. At least not the kinds of headaches and weird eye related trauma like I did before - not until I lost about 70 lbs (I'm almost at 100 lbs lost at this point) and then I got a migraine with aura and went to an optometrist to make sure it wasn't the worst case - retinal detachment.
My pressures were fine but one of my discs was slightly swollen.
I'm now seeing a new neuro opthalmologist and he says it's quite possible I did have a migraine and that it is separate from the iih and that the swollen disk is just my new normal. It is extremely mild and mostly asymptomatic.
I'm taking a 3 month trial of acetazolamide to figure out if the swelling abates. If it it does then I'm out of remission and back in the shit but if it stays the same that might just be what my eyes look like now.
I'm posting this to perhaps shine light on the complexities of this illness. Sometimes remission isn't going back to the standard - it is a chronic illness. Losing weight is a good first step but in my case it might not get rid of it completely.
I consider myself lucky that so far my iih has been treatable - I'm hoping once I get to my goal weight and maintain that it will help keep me in remission long term.

2025.01.22 20:45 ent_waifu_ Should I turn down the pension?
I'm 44yo and switching careers to be a teacher in Michigan.
For retirement, I can either choose the defined contribution (DC) option, or a hybrid pension/DC plan. I'm leaning DC because I'm older and the pension payout doesn't seem very high, but just on principle I feel weird about turning down a pension. Would love to hear people's thoughts or if I'm not thinking of something. Here's the breakdown:
DC plan: State contributes 4% into 401k, plus matches an additional 5%. Worker contributes to 457. Employer contributions are fully vested at 4 years.
Pension plan: Worker and state both contribute 6.2% into pension fund. Worker also contributes to 457, which state matches to 3%. Employer contributions are fully vested at 4 years. Pension is vested at 10 years of service and pays out at age 60.
401k/457 have low-fee index options. I would max out the 457 either way. No retirement healthcare provisions in either plan :(
If we are blessed with 5% returns over the next 10 years, that's when I could be hitting my FIRE number, around age 55. At that point, I would have earned a $12k/yr pension (no COLA). If I stayed working until age 60, my pension would be $24k/yr.
My concern is that, while I am doing this out of a deep sense of commitment, teaching is very difficult work and that seems like not a lot of money to be golden-handcuffed to in the event that I want to leave before the 10 years for whatever reason.
Other considerations: If I choose the pension plan and leave the job early, they will return my pension contributions "with interest" - but the interest amount is not specified. I have to choose my plan in the next 2 months and can't switch once the choice is made.
What would you do in this situation? I know this is the classic dilemma for anyone with a pension option, but usually the money on the table is more than $12k a year. Any questions or consideration that I'm missing here?
