I recently got a Dell G2725D monitor which is 1440p@180hz but the OSD is dogshit.. looks like it was made in 2005 and I was told by a support agent, due to no/shitty reviews on the monitor, that it would come with built in crosshairs but it never did and I would like to keep it but hate the menu. If you have any suggestions please say.

Hi all, I guess I am just wondering how much time you took off work after your surgery? I haven’t had the easiest recovery, I’m nearly 5 week post and am waiting to “turn the corner”. I have some ok days but have now developed the same symptoms I had pre-op, just in a different part of my leg, so driving is now painful again etc. I have to drive to and from work, no transport options. I also cannot work from home, it is all on site. I was hoping to return at 6 weeks post but to be honest can’t really see that happening with the way my recovery is. Feeling disheartened as I thought I’d be well on the way to recovery by now.

2025.01.22 21:59 The_cooler_ArcSmith Are Hybrid Solar Thermal & Absorption Chillers a good combination?

Lets say I'm a nerd and I want to design a house that is as self sufficient as possible. Hybrid solar thermal panels are photovoltaics that are "water-cooled", running more efficiently and generating multiple times more heat energy than electrical in the form of hot water (you know, since photovoltaics are only so effecient, the majority of solar energy is turned into heat).
Now a logical person would say to only make enough panels hybrid to meet your hot water needs and maybe supplement space heating in the winter. That way you don't have to contend with tens of kilowatts of low grade heat. But what if I was not logical and wanted to take advantage of ALL the solar energy I can, even the summer?
Absorption chillers can use low grade heat (i.e. below the boiling point of water) to chill water. They are not efficient at a COP of ~0.7 (giving peltiers a run for their money). But if there are tens of kilowatts of potential heat energy that don't have much of a use after meeting hot water demands, then it would make sense to use that to power cooling the house. They require a certain threshold temperature of about 160F or higher to actually do anything. But if the output heat isn't at that temperature then it could be brought up to it by some combination of a heat-pump (both concentrating the heat to a higher temp and allowing better extraction of heat at the panels), an electric resistance heater, and/or a dedicated solar thermal collecter to heat those last few tens of degrees.
What are some obstacles that are in place aside from seemingly no residential absorption chiller units being available? Are small commercial absorption chillers too expensive? Are they way too unreliable? Is the chilling power not enough to cool a house? Will these companies not sell commercial units for residential use? Are they too dangerous to have near a house? Etc

A história é a seguinte, minha avó falava que um parente (um rapaz) muito querido dela e do meu avô, foi morto no Rio de Janeiro por conta de um caso de ciúmes. De acordo com ela, esse rapaz conheceu um outro rapaz em suas andanças por aí e os dois se apaixonaram, e de acordo com ela o rapaz que esse parente se apaixonou era de família importante do RJ, tanto que, nosso parente adorava contar para um Tia minha (a mais velha das filhas do primeiro casamento do meu avô) sobre os passeios de JetSki que faziam juntos. Aí vem a questão da tragédia, de acordo com o nosso parente, o então namorado dele tinha um relacionamento com uma moça antes deles ficarem juntos e que inclusive a moça estava grávida, e que ela além de ser de família rica, era envolvida com algumas pessoas perigosas, mas que ele não temia pela vida porque em uma conversa com ela, chegou a comentar que ajudaria no que pudesse para o namorado ser presente na vida da criança. Mas ele comentou que uma coisa chamou atenção dele, no último encontro que ele teve com essa moça ao final do passei de JetSki com o namorado, ela chegou a brincar com ele "Eu não sabia que um cabo de aço poderia apertar tanto um pescoço, pensei que ferro não amarrava assim." ele comentou que riu e achou estranha a fala dela. Alguns dias depois ele foi trabalhar e simplesmente passou 4 dias sem dar notícias, a família desesperada abriu um boletim de ocorrência, e alguns dias depois ele foi encontrado morto amarrado em um cabo de aço com uma pedra dentro de um canal (não tenho tanta certeza da parte do canal), minha avó falava que todos sabiam que foi essa moça e que na época o crime deu uma repercussão tremenda pois o namorado do meu Parente fez um escarcéu pra tentar acusar a moça e não deu certo. Infelizmente minha avó tem 86 anos agora, e não lembra mais o nome dele, meu pai não lembra e eu não tenho contato com a minha família completamente evangélica. Eu me recordo que isso ocorreu entre 1984 e 1994, pois minha avó fala que eu nasci 10 anos depois do ocorrido. Já tentei buscar algo sobre e não consegui encontrar. Atualmente eu sou o único gay assumido da minha família, e tenho zero referências, e essa pessoa teve um amor numa época tão complicada para ser LGBT, mesmo com esse final triste. Me ajudem a achar alguma notícia em jornais da época, eu venho procurando mas não acho nada... Queria saber tanto o nome dele. 🥹🥹🥹

I’m in Michigan and its been in the single digits. Minus 2 today. I also live in a trailer with a shower in the back and a tub in the front. Tried to take a shower a couple of days ago and only the hot water worked. Initially thought there was a problem with the shower itself. The hot and cold water works everywhere else. The only reason I think the water line is frozen is because 2 years ago, the hot water line froze and I went under the trailer and but an electric heat tape around the hot water but didn’t for the cold. The back shower is not insulated at all behind the wall and it’s freezing in there as result. I washed my hair in the FRONT bathroom and the water wasn’t draining. This furthers my mind that the water is frozen. I couldn’t plunge it nor could I stick anything far down it. I heard if one bathroom is frozen it can affect the other.
My question is, does this sound like my cold water line is frozen and do I just need to wrap it with another electric tape to fix it?

So I have been going through a wee "rough patch" with my reptiles lately when it comes to my relationship with my partner. Now, before I go any further, let me say we have a solid loving relationship and this is a rare occurrence for us to be at odds, so please don't say "find a new man" and such...and his point is valid.....over the new year holiday a friend of ours lost their home, pets and everything to a house fire caused by a malfunctioning ceramic heat emitter on their tegu enclosure. Best they can figure is that it exploded while they were out of the home and a smouldering piece fell into the lizards bedding. Needless to say the rest of the story is quite tragic...
Now I am under HEAVY pressure from my partner and my family to "get rid of" my reptiles with heat lamps. I only have two with heat lamps. My tortoise and my lizard. Both were my "dream species" that I finally acquired after decades of saving. Besides them I have dart frogs which require no heating. After much pressure, guilt, worry, etc...I did agree to sell my tort and lizard and get more dart frog tanks instead, as I just can't stop thinking about what happened to my dear friend and her home and animals.
But OMG I don't want to! I'm so heartbroken and very torn...I am scared now and have nightmares of fires destroying our home....I would feel so guilty. But I don't want to get rid of them!!! I mean, I check the bulbs frequently, tighten them, keep them well away from anything flammable but SO DID MY FRIEND. This has really gotten to me. What would you do!?!

Seit etlichen Jahren zahle ich bereits die Beiträge, aber mein Vater ist noch immer der offizielle Versicherungsnehmer. (Ich bin begünstigter)
