2025.01.23 00:12 VentageRoseStudios What's the craziest story you've heard about a director being super picky about how a scene should be filmed?
Here's a wild story about Tom, Cruise, who faced an unexpected challenge when he was just 18. He had a role where he had to eat chocolate cake, which he was initially excited about. But things quickly turned sour.
During an interview with Graham Norton, Tom shared his experience working with director Francis Ford Coppola. For this particular scene, Tom decided his character would eat chocolate cake. What he didn't expect was that Coppola wanted to get the perfect take—so much so that they filmed it for three entire days!
Tom ended up doing around 100 takes of the scene, meaning he had to eat a lot of cake. At first, he enjoyed it, saying, "It was so good, I have to eat it. It was so moist." But as the takes dragged on, he desperately hoped they had the right shot, saying, "Oh my gosh, did we get it?"
After three days of hearing "Let's do it again" from Coppola, Tom was in sugar shock and ended up vomiting. That's an extreme example of a director's perfectionism!

2025.01.23 00:12 Ragamuffin2022 Navy movie (maybe) where AI or a computer program is trying to instigate a war??
Saw this movie a while ago and all I can remember is that towards the end there’s two navy destroyers in a standoff type situation, and the AI or program whatever makes the big gun on one of the ships point at the other ship trying to bait them into firing first. Then there’s a conversation over the radio basically a heart to heart with the other captain trying to make him understand he’s being played???

2025.01.23 00:12 Mx_PigPig Can I edit a tags name?
So I have added a tag to lots of cards (lets say the tag is called "Jeff") is there a way to update that tag's name (to "Jeff::Brown) so that now all the cards that had the tag "Jeff" now have a tag called "Jeff::Brown" instead. I basically just don't want to go through all the cards editing that specific tags name.
Thanks in advance!

2025.01.23 00:12 stfulian I (18M) Want to Change Careers but I’m Afraid of Disappointing Everyone
I’ve been studying Mechatronics Engineering for a year. At first, I thought I liked it, but a few months into it, I realized I’ve lost my passion for it. Now, I’m thinking about switching to Industrial Design, which aligns more with my interests and what I genuinely enjoy.
The issue is that my family has very high expectations for me. I’m studying at the best university in my country (which is a highly competitive university that’s difficult to get into), and leaving Mechatronics feels even harder because it’s a prestigious, challenging program with promising job opportunities.
I’ve tried talking to my parents about how I feel. They said they’d support my decision, but their response felt passive-aggressive, as though they’d be disappointed if I went through with the change. Their reaction has left me feeling stuck, unsure of what to do next, and terrified of letting them down.
I’m torn between pursuing something I know I’d be happier doing and sticking with my current path to meet everyone’s expectations. I’d really appreciate any advice on how to navigate this situation.

2025.01.23 00:12 Temnodontosaurus Always bring dung pods on Rathalos quests.
Started farming High Rank Rathalos and Diablos for armor in order to prepare for Deviljho and Nergigante, as well as wean me off the Guardian and Defender gear. Diablos was pretty easy, but during the Rathalos quest, I was besieged by Rathalos, Rathian, that electric snake I can't spell off the top of my head, AND Deviljho. It's a miracle I didn't cart once, though I came extremely close several times.
Lesson learned, always bring dung pods. And a huge thanks to Deviljho for body-slamming Rathalos and taking away 570 health. Couldn't have done it without Pickle Rex's help. Which brings me to another lesson. To quote Dr. Serizawa: "Let them fight."

2025.01.23 00:12 Rannyie_Von_Bannyie Humanoid Alien Race Names Help
For one of my projects, I wanna play with the idea of the "Humanoid Alien" or "Human but Alien" concept. Essentially I have got it into my own headcannon that any race that looks human or is human but with some changes, that they are in someway related to us. And then playing with the idea of where human really did come from and how these other "Humanoid Alien" races relate to us despite living thousands of lightyears apart.
However, one thing I struggle atm (which also relates to fictional nation names) with is coming up with the name of these alien races. While I have some names for some of the races, I feel like they could be worked upon and made better, but I find the whole area of working with language to create a completely fictional name or word confusing.
These are the alien races I have so far:
Arachnoids: Essentially a GELF (Genetically Engineered Life Form) species which initially was from a project to weaponise insects. In this case spiders, yet through messing with genetic code and utilising a metaphysical entity it created essentially half human, half spider like beings. I more imagine them looking human but maybe with some spider legs on their backs or maybe their legs are more placed backwards than regular human legs.
Vormipiens: The same as the Arachnoids, but they weren't engineered by humans and what if they where half human, half ant like beings. Similar to an ant colony, the Vormipiens are lead by a queen and while there is some hints of a 'hive mind' mentality, the Vormipiens are mostly similar to humans as each of the Vormipien race lives their own individual lives, some are workers, some are teachers, some maintain the law, some fly space ships, and some become soldiers.
Zorrians: The Zorrians once ruled half of the unknown galaxy through the Galactic Co-Prosperity Union. Yet, a misguided sense of pacifism soon lead tot he Zorrian race almost becoming extinct. They are the most similar to that of humans, however with an almost biomechanial nature to them as like the humans from DUNE, their race is essentially living biocomputers that hold vast knowledge of their own people's history and history of thousands of other beings.
Kehsharrans: Unlike the Zorrians, the Kehsharrans lived for war and conquest. Under an Ultranationalistic/Fascist like government, the Kehsharrans believed in the strongest ruling their society. Did not matter if you where a male or female Kehsharran, you had to be the strongest. As such, the strongest in terms of physical power and mental power held firm seats at the very top of the social hierarchy.
This is all I really have so far, and would like to up my game in terms of creativity with making alien race names.

2025.01.23 00:12 Mediocre_Freedom258 So if everyone hates jobs, why is nobody doing anything?
Okay this may just be me being uneducated, but i've seen a lot, and I mean a LOT of people complaining about management, HR, etc. being really shitty people, yet with all these 300 million americans we can't start a revolution or something? It just doesn't click in my head. Many americans complaining about lack of pay, terrible jobs, but nobody has done anything about it. Like why dont we just go storm the billionaire houses and torture them till they give us what we want? Has the idea of revolting against bad leaders gone over our heads? I mean look at the beginning of this country, thats literally what it is. Why cant we just overthrow the government and start an anti authoritarian government?
