2025.01.23 02:40 spz21- 2023/2024 Prius Prime vs Prius battery issue
Hi! Here is my situation- daily work commute is about 20km total (there and back). Live in Montreal so cold winters. I have indoor parking at home. I really like the styling of the new Prius and I’m not ready to go full EV yet. I drive around 6000-7000 km per year. I thought it would be a no brainer to go with the Prime as I would pretty much never have to pay for gas. After doing quite a bit of research, I stumbled upon some threads in which people constantly have issues with the 12v battery dying because they do not drive enough. I guess it’s because the car does not get enough drive in order to recharge the 12v. Anyone have any experience with this and is this true? Is this something that has been fixed by Toyota or just the reality of not driving much on a PHEV? Because of the above, I am now considering the standard HEV. But I’m not sure if I’ll end up facing the same type of issue. Any feedback would be appreciated.

 | Is crazy driving the new sport? Coming home from Costco after work and this bozo almost hit me when he swerved into my lane. My groceries spilled all over the back of my car. I honked, so he brake checked me and eggs went everywhere and broke. Then he slowed down and changed lanes so he could drive two inches from my bumper for no reason. Then he pulled a u turn and went back the other direction, which is why it all seemed like the sport of an a-hole. I’ve seen two hit and runs in the last week. One was caught. Why are people so crazy? I’m ready to move to a town of 500 with no stupid car culture. Lincoln is worse than Houston and Dallas and I’ve lived in both. I just recently revisited Frank Zappa/The Mothers of Invention’s “We’re Only in it for the Money album” from 1968. Overtly it’s a critique of SF’s hippie culture with parody-like psychedelic rock songs.
I also revisited Todd Rundgren’s “A Wizard, a True Star” which feels like a very similar tone & intent, similar commitment to over-indulgent studio tricks.
All this to ask are there any hive-mind recommendations for albums that have a similar intent & style?
Psychedelic, over-indulgent with studio tricks and also not taking itself seriously.
