2025.01.23 02:37 Real_nutty Mass Apply vs Targeted Application
I just graduated with an existing job at a startup I’ve been working for almost a year now.
I wanted to get out since there are not enough benefits and pay for me to properly find growth anywhere in my life (I’m only able to afford rent and some groceries, no car, no health insurance, etc.)
I’ve done a lot of research work in my undergrad which led me to apply for PhD (results expected in the next few weeks) but since it’s never a guarantee that I get to grad school, I also attempted some job applications but failed at the final round.
Kind of bummed out with my current situation but I’d rather live like this than get paid more working for a job I don’t find interest in.
Is it narcissistic and dumb of me to only target apply for jobs that I find interest in (e.g. the products/projects that are being worked on and general team culture)? I especially disliked rainforest when I met their leadership at a private event I went.
Am I too stuck up with my values? (can I even call it values)

2025.01.23 02:37 Neb_Busa River Scape for Hillstream Loaches
Finally finished my hillstream loach river scape! Ignore the algae on the glass (getting through those early tank stages). Tank is 39.5x11.5x12”. Using an Oase filtosmart thermo 300 for overpowered filtration coming out of a spray bar to generate flow. LFS only had 3 hillys so I’ll add more when the new shipment gets in. Other tank mates are choprae danios that I bred and raised this summer in my outdoor tub pond! Let me know what yall think of the scape! Hillys seem happy. submitted by Neb_Busa to loaches [link] [comments] |

2025.01.23 02:37 hotwheelgeng4r barbers/stylists for asian hair
Looking for a barbestylist in fairfax/springfield (willing to go to dc as well) that is also gender friendly/neutral/fluid since I'm a female who prefers haircuts that are more popular with males. Some barbers/stylists aren't familiar with cutting Asian hair so I am looking for someone who has experience doing so. I would like to stay $50 and under if possible. Trying to get my hair to look something similar to these styles.

2025.01.23 02:37 Puzzleboy102 RPMs Increasing Slightly When Breaking - Chevy Silverado 1500
Hi everyone - quick question for you. I recently purchased a used 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 with 60k miles on it. It’s got the 6 speed transmission. I noticed after a few days of having it that when going to break, the rpm’s gradually go down (like normal) then slightly go up as I am near stopping before heading back down again to idle speed. The truck doesn’t accelerate or anything while breaking, it’s just the rpm does a very slight “jump” when I get close to coming to a stop. It’s nothing big and can only really be “felt” if someone was really trying to pay attention to it. When it goes up, it’s only maybe 300 or so rpm, not like 1000 or anything. Wasn’t sure what this could be as I’ve seen stuff saying it’s normal and others saying it isn’t. I’d be curious to hear your take and if it is a problem, what would be a rough cost to have it fixed and if it’s necessary. Thanks!

2025.01.23 02:37 itokunikuni Buying JR Kyushu Rail Pass at self-serve kiosks with Passport scanner?
Basically, I am unable to purchase a JR Pass on my foreign passport at the service counters, since my foreign passport lacks an entry stamp.
I have previously used the self-serve kiosks with passport scanners to buy JR Pass for JR East, to take the Shinkansen across Tohoku.
Does anyone know if these are available in Kyushu, specifically Hakata station? I would like to do the same thing but for Kyushu. I will be flying into Japan through Fukuoka, so going to Tokyo to purchase the pass is not an option.
