2025.01.23 13:11 ZezinDoPneuFurado Porque no Piauí fofocam tanto?

2025.01.23 13:10 Subject_Collar1499 Switching from Backend to Sales Engineering.
Hey Hey!
I recently left a role as a Backend Engineer (Ruby, Typescript, Microservices, Serverless..), it was my first tech position, and I was there 3 years. I'm a self taught bootcamp grad, with a previous background in hospitality/ops management (7+ years)
I LOVE the zoomed out stuff, actually seeing how the tech benefits a user and the business, but I'm not a massive fan of the nitty gritty. I was finding the isolation of coding too much, just cannot muster enough motivation to be a great individual contributor! I'm great at thinking outside the box when breaking down problems and finding quick wins, and I'm a real ideas guy (gal)!
I'd say I have sound technical knowledge of the core stuff (APIs, networking, databases, security, compliance, observability, architecture, etc) and enough to build on quite quickly. But I do only have 3 years professional experience to draw on..
I'm confident, communicative, presentable, eloquent - my background in hotel management backs this up and a performing arts diploma, but I don't have any direct sales experience.
I'm considering (but not set on) a shift into Technical or non-Technical Product Management in the future but that leap seems a little bit too big for right now, companies seem to want some more experience in the business space of tech.

2025.01.23 13:10 PrincipleTemporary65 Is Trump deliberatively encouraging Russia and China to attack us by weakening our national defense?
Aside from appointing the total incompetent Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Defense, a man who has almost as many heinous accusations against him as he himself, Trump has taken another step toward incapacitating our intelligence apparatus by sidelining 160 fully experienced security advisors. These non-pollical experts on matters such as global terrorism are being furloughed awaiting their replacement by Trump sycophants and hangers-on whose only credentials may be the fact they are active cultists.
These replacements will be as feckless, inept, and irresponsible as the majority of Trumps appointees, but probably more dangerous in their total inability to do the job they pandered their souls for.
Folks, Americans were once notable for their political apathy, but now that reputation has shifted to one of disdain for your fellow man and in your directed inattentiveness you are failing to notice your freedom and security ae being undermined by a cabal of oligarchs who care little about liberty, and only about self-profit and graft; as evidenced by Trump himself.
Trump is tearing our Security and military apparatus apart while you quibble about inanities and personal prejudices.
See this report from the associated Press:

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump’s national security adviser has sidelined about 160 National Security Council aides, sending them home while the administration reviews staffing and tries to align it with Trump’s agenda, administration officials told The Associated Press. The council provides national security and foreign policy advice to the president. Trump, a Republican, is sidelining these nonpolitical subject matter experts on topics that range from counterterrorism to global climate policy at a time when the United States is dealing with a disparate set of complicated foreign policy matters, including conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. Such structuring could make new policy experts brought into the NSC less likely to speak up about policy differences and concerns.
Trump's national security adviser, Mike Waltz, had signaled before Inauguration Day that he would look to return holdover civil servants who worked in the council during President Joe Biden's administration to their home agencies. That was meant to ensure the council is staffed by those who support Trump's goals. By the end of the review, Waltz will look to have a “more efficient, flatter” NSC, one official said. The officials declined to comment on the ultimate number of personnel — nonpolitical detailees as well as political appointees — whom Trump and Waltz would like to see as part of the council once the review is completed.

After a few years at my new job I was able to afford a better ride. I was wrestling with small bed vehicles when I realized a Frontier would perfect. 2016 Desert Runner ed. Total was 12k. Pictured is me hugging my last ride, an e150 van that I lived out of on the west coast, before she went to her new home 🥲 I love my new Frontier though, the bilstein shocks keep it level. 2025.01.23 13:10 spoookyghoul Should I be okay with him seeing other people?
I (28F) have been dating a guy (33M) for about a month now it’s been going really well. Going forward we’ll just call him John. When John and I first met I asked what his dating intentions were and let him know I wasn’t looking for anything casual and his exact words back were “I’m trying to find my person”. A few weeks ago I brought up the topic of how this is progressing and wanting to know if he’s still seeing other people. We’ve already been intimate and I’ve been sleeping over, I figured if that was going to continue I needed to know if anyone else was in the picture. I thought the discussion went great, while we agreed we aren’t ready for labels yet, he let me know he’s not actively using his dating apps any longer and that it’s “highly unlikely that he’ll talk to or sleep with anyone else”. Since that talk we’ve continued to spend time together, dates, sleepovers etc. We talk for hours on end about incredibly personal and vulnerable subjects and I’m finding myself growing more attached to him and felt like things are moving in a good direction. Fast forward to last night, I got back from a weekend trip and he picked me up from the airport. The second I got in the car I felt like something was off, once I got home I reached out and asked if things were okay and he let me know that while he’s still interested in me, he does have a date planned for this weekend. Obviously I’m devastated. We went back and forth for a while, John saying that we agreed we aren’t exclusive and that this girl asked him out so it falls into the “unlikely to happen” category he mentioned before. He’s right that we aren’t exclusive but I just don’t see how things can move forward from here? Should I be okay with him continuing to see other people? I understand it’s still very new but to me as things progress we should be weeding out potential love interests, not adding new ones to the picture. I’m not sure if maybe I’m being old fashioned and unreasonable here, I would really appreciate some insight.

2025.01.23 13:10 godofimagination Is there a paper/book about how political beliefs are becoming similar to ethnicities?
Years ago, my professor said that an anthropologist did a study fiding that modern day political beliefs are becoming like pseudo-ethnicities. For example, if someone drinks Starbucks coffee and drives a Prius, we assume that person to be left wing.
Does anyone have a link to this supposed paper? I've lost touch with my professor but need to cite this work for a school newspaper article I'm writing.

2025.01.23 13:10 throwaway222x1220 I made a mistake I’ll never make again.
I haven’t eaten in basically 4 days. It snowed here in the south for basically the first time in my adulthood (23) and I definitely underestimated the snow we got.
A little over 6 inches, for a place that never gets snow is quite phenomenal. But I was skeptical thinking we were only going to get a few flurries maybe.
This prior weekend my friends and I went out to eat a lot so I was barely at home and even when I got home I wasn’t hungry. I then had MLK off from work (Monday) and for some reason I had the worst stomachache (probably due to the junk I ate over the weekend) and stayed in bed all day. During this time I practically underestimated how much food/groceries I had left in my kitchen. I realized Monday night I had practically nothing. 2 granola bars, konjac jelly, some rice, protein shakes, and peanut butter. I thought to myself “oh I’ll be fine for breakfast tmr just gotta make sure I get groceries tmr for lunch and dinner.”
I didn’t do that. Work was busy and by time I got off the grocery stores were already closed. I tried ordering a grocery delivery but due to the weather the order was canceled. (Mind you I ordered the delivery BEFORE it started to snow on Tuesday so I wasn’t trying to put anyone in harm, I was just trying to get someone to shop for my groceries while I was at work)
I thought.. hmm ok the snow will melt and I’ll get groceries Wednesday morning before work. WRONG. Everything was closed (including work) and cops deemed the roads impassable and if you were out on the roads you get a ticket. So I had no food, no groceries, and I couldn’t even order delivery. So I practically survived yesterday with nothing but some peanut butter (and that didn’t really keep me full)
The same for today. Roads are still impassable, grocery stores are closed, delivery is unavailable. IM HUNGRY. I understand this is due to my own ignorance but man I fully understand why people freak out sometimes when nature incidents are predicted.
Tldr, my lesson = learned. But I’m so fucking hungry istg these roads better melt so I can go get me smth to eat. This is what I get for being irresponsible and pushing off my todo list :’)
Note: I have water
