I moved to Australia from NZ in Feb 2024 while keeping my old source of income (I work from home for an overseas company, as a sole trader).
The move was due to my wife's job offer, and we treated it as a trial (didn't sell our house & cars in NZ , rented out the house, and rented a place to live for a year here). Unfortunately my wife lost the job after couple of months and then struggled to land anything else for rest of the 2024. It was increasingly likely that we are going back to NZ in early 2025 as soon as we can move back into our family house. So I didn't bother to register myself as a sole trader in AU after 183 days to keep things simple: after all I perceived it as NZ is still my place of abode and we simply stuck in AU waiting for end of rent here & in NZ.
Ironically, situation turned upside down this month. We almost started to pack when my wife got a job offer in AU again and we decided to give it another chance.
Apparently now I'm an AU tax resident and potentially overdue one. So I got my TFS and started applying for ABN...
Btw do I even need to apply for ABN at all? I'm contracting for a single client and it's very full-time-job-like setup with agreed fixed pay and permanent basis. In NZ registering the business for this income was optional but apparently in AU it's a must?
Anyway, I'm applying for ABN and ran into this question:
From what date does the Individual/Sole Trader require its ABN?What should I enter here?
- The date when I clocked 183 days in AU ? But see above - I considered myself as NZ tax resident and kept paying provisional taxes there (equivalent of PAYG) all the way to January 2025
- recent date, when we decided to stay in AU for longer?
- just today's date?
- anything else?

It should be:
- the date when the entity first had, or will have, transactions in setting up the business and would generally be before the day entity 'opens its doors'. Set up transactions include events such as leasing premises, buying in stock and printing business cards.
- on or before the goods and services tax (GST) and/or pay as you go (PAYG) withholding start date.
It should not be, prior to the date:
- the company was incorporated that is it obtained Australian Company Number (ACN)/Australian Registered Body Number (ARBN) or
- the trust or partnership was established.

Hello there...
I am looking at buying an ehx hog 1 with the hugh footcontroller and was checking there a re mods for this pedal. Such as a smaller controller, maybe usage of the hog2 preset controller? I was also thinking about a an external on/off switch because it's quite a big pedal i don't want next to my other pedals and put this in a blackish space on my pedalboard. Any thoughts or ideas?

Hello, I’m Max (Host) of our DID system, and I am confused on my own alters.
our system has a good amount of interjects, this mostly applies to them.
For some reason most of them had a fracture of some sort in their memory, is this from recent forming or being unsure if their memory is correct? I am genuinely confused, like Glisten (introject) started as “Alex” until we figured out, it’s not the first time
I personally believe it happens out of fear of some sort, but what do you guys think?

2025.01.23 13:15 TwistMinimum5529 Dizzy with flomax?
I went to the ER last Thursday for extreme back pain, blood in urine, nausea, vomiting. Turns out it was a kidney stone after some tests. They prescribed me 2 weeks of flomax, zofran for nausea and oxycodone for pain. Plus taking otc Tylenol and ibuprofen. Told me to rest and drink lots of fluids. Every morning since then i still wake up nauseous, even with the zofran. On top of that, the flomax has been making me feel sick like a cold, stuffy/runny nose, headache, diarrhea. It also has been causing me a ton of dizziness , light head ness and i just don’t feel like I’m all the way present. I went to work on Tuesday and nearly passed out. Sweating very bad, pale, hearing was muffled, seeing black dots and just black. Pretty much on feeling on fainting. I’ve been taking this medication for 6 days now. Anyone else experience this?
To note.. i do take mirtazapine full time for anxiety. Not sure if that is causing me problems by mixing the medication.

My husband and I are really struggling to find a boys name we can agree on for our first child!
I have an extremely unique name which is always misspelled and mispronounced. Whilst I like my unique name, it is a bit of a hassle. I would therefore like my child to have a name that is uncommon, but easily to spell and pronounce. It doesn’t have to be super unique but I’d definitely prefer it if it wasn’t in the top 200 or so (I live in the UK).
My husband is French and has an extremely common name, and wants our kid to have a name that doesn’t stand out. He doesn’t care about popularity at all. An additional consideration is the name ideally needs to be pronounced the same in English and in French.
Names I like and would choose: Cato, Atlas, Kyrie, Kylo, Micah, Kael, Cassian, Kyrian (husband has vetoed all of these for being too weird)
Names I like but wouldn’t choose due to popularity: Isaac, Max, Noah, Elijah, Elias, Theodore/Theo, Caleb
Names husband likes: Caleb, Nate/Nathan, Adam, Liam, Lucas (I have vetoed all of these for being boring, except Caleb which is just common)
Please help me name nerds!!

If you put in the hard work, effort, toil day after day and persevere to get where you are, you won't be doubting your skills and accomplishments. I honestly believe that this self-doubt and insecurity exists in a person because, consciously or unconsciously, they know that they got where they are in undeserved/unfair ways.
I see this a lot in law school. I got into law school after many sleepless days nights, almost ruining my mental and physical health. I am proud of my success and I know that I deserve it because boy did I work hard for it. But there are rich kids who get in through legacy admissions and its always the well connected sons and daughters of the bigwigs that harp about impostor syndrome. Newsflash, you feel this way because you aren't supposed to be here. None of the others that got through through hard work feel this way because they are assured in the good and honest hard work that they put in to get where they are.
The reason you have impostor syndrome is probably because you are an impostor.
