2025.01.23 17:40 JeuneHelly [SPOILERS EXTENDED] Just finished ACOK
And it was a fantastic read! Really astonished to see people here rank it as there least favorite book in saga.
The Arya POV chapters are incredible, you really got the feeling you're walking through a wartorn country. An omission from the serie making it one of the least interesting plotline in the S2, apart from here scene with Tywin, but the book chapters where she's a servant to Roose Bolton are really cool too.
I also really liked the Theon chapters. The whole Ramsay/ Theon relationship is obviously a major thing. But to see him so early, and the whole Lady Hornswood/ Reek's thing, made it a really good read* One point the serie make it better though, is when Theon burn the letter he meant to send to Rob, while in the book there's no really transition from Stark's ally to Iron Isles Prince.
The Tyrion plotline, and the split narrative during the Blackwater Bay Battle, is the highlight of the book to me. Was Reading the Davos chapter with the sound of the war drum in mind.
I saw some people complaining about the Jon POV Chapters, while imInreally enjoyed them. I really grew into Jeor Mormont and his pet crow. The passage at the Fist of the First Men and the whole raiding into the Frostfangs arr really cool. Plus the deal with Qorin made way more sense than in the serie!
The same complaint goes about Daenerys, but her chapter in the house of the undying is one of the very best in the whole book!
Even characters that are just dull in the serie like Catelyn, or Sansa at this stage, are really interesting and give us precious insights and cool reading.
I definitely enjoyed it more than AGOT, where I found the Eddard chapters a bit boring, plus appart from a few notable exceptions (Tyrion introducing himself doing a salto jump, the duel of Bronn at the Eyrie, the embuscade of Ned by Jaime), the first season is globally a 1:1 version of AGOT, making it a less fresh read, full a discoveries and mysteries.
I really can't wait to read ASOS now!

I kinda like to delve into the lore of the games a lot and Warframe is a really fun one for me and i particularly like the drifter a lot! So even though I've finished everything quest wise in the game I have some small questions that recently came to mind
- How does the Drifter even get void powers in the first place?
- When angy lotus tries to kill the drifter how does the operator appear back? Is it because of the time-loop Ballas put them into finally looped back to the deal or? This one confuses me

I, as a civilian just want to say thank you to everyone that serves. Watching the judge sentencing the God awful man today who took and injured those precious girls. People forget in cases like these you are the first on scene. Tackling the perpetrator and rendering aid. I can't imagine the scenes you must see and find yourselves in just how difficult and traumatic these are. I was sobbing just listening to the horror of it all, thanks to you I don't have to see this week in week out. Thank you for all you do! Xx

I began a social justice movement called the BiblioUnderground that uses discarded books (or anything that can be made into stash box) with burner phones, loaded with vetted resources, for people who need to leave abusive situations. I've presented this and have had some news coverage re: this, but had to take a break due to health/family...but now is time to get to work. Please see my bio for more info.
I have struggled with getting phones that are truly safe. Does anyone have suggestions?
If you are looking for a way to help women, I could use lots of help. I want to start a movement where women look out for each other and smuggle phones, medications and non-lethal weapons to one another. This is not a drill.

Just picked up my daughter from school and this trailevan/thing was planted across the road.
AIBU to think this should NOT be parked there - granted, so many ads are sexualised with half naked men and women these days, but sticking this outside a school is going too far IMO.
