2025.01.24 00:26 aceskeleton Occupational Skills Certificate, Certificate of Achievement, or self-directed study for my apprenticeship application?
Los Angeles resident here planning to pursue the electrician apprenticeship at IBEW 40 when applications open in the spring.
I'm considering the option to take classes in Electrical Technology at PCC, such as ELTY 217 Electrical Inspection and Codes. I would not have time to earn a full credential before applying for the apprenticeship in spring. Would the classroom experience help me out in the application process, or would it just be redundant with the 5-year apprenticeship training program?
The other option I'm considering is to buy parts and teach myself basic electronics principles out of a textbook. I'm confident in my ability to learn outside of a classroom setting and go about it safely.
Any thoughts? Thanks for reading.

2025.01.24 00:26 jackleg_gunscientist What's the dumbest thing you've done?
I made a stupid, rookie mistake today. Im a pretty avid mechanic, I primarily build transmissions but nothing is really out of my range.
I have a 2009 Lincoln MKS with the 3.7. had a rough idle and occasional random misfire on cylinder 2. I pulled the intake plenum to get access to the coil and plug. Plug was pretty fouled so I replaced it and the other 3 on the firewall side while I was there. Reassembled and did an oil change.
Started the engine and it spun over a little longer than normal, started, idled fairly rough and then died. At that exact instant I realized I left the blue paper towels stuffed in the intake holes. Disassembled and removed the paper towels, thankfully I was able to get about 95% of it out. I went after 1 last little piece and my pick fell all the way to the bottom of the intake. After fishing for it a bit I just removed the lower part of the intake.
It's a personal vehicle and I have a backup until I can get to it Saturday so all in all it's not that big of a deal. I'm just having such a hard time and I'm really beating myself up about it way more than I probably should be. I was just wondering what's some of the dumbest things you guys have done? And who's willing to admit it lol.

everyday for the last two weeks ish, i’ve started to get really bad sharp consistent pain on my right side, just at the bottom of my ribs, on my front and back side. does anyone know what this could be? i don’t want to go to the hospital and risk missing work, but also don’t want to risk my health or my little ones health. tylenol doesn’t help, nor changing positions, or drinking water. and it’ll happen at random times and then last the rest of the day.

2025.01.24 00:26 SKOBuilds How Do I Productize My Power BI Solution?
I was able to integrate with a really old Niche ERP system and automate a company's power BI reports. I believe I'm the only person who's done this before with this particular system. I know there are lots of other companies out there who would love something like this.
2 questions:
- How do I productize this? How do I turn this into something really repeatable that I could sell easily to other companies who use this software. I'm thinking some sort of plug and play connector where I wouldn't have to be the one who manually sets it up for them. They just pay for the connector on a monthly basis and get all their data from the system in a format that's usuable by power BI. (I only have about 5 months experience in power BI so maybe I'm missing something obvious here)
- How do I find other customers who use this software? I know they have their own conferences and things and there are some very expensive lists out there that supposedly have all of them. But I have about $0 to spend on this type of thing right now.

Hey - I am a consultant working on research on C4 modeling. I understand that it’s an abstraction model for representation of systems architecture in 4 levels - systems, containers, components, and code. I also understand that there are different people in an organization who may be interested in each of these levels.
Generally speaking, who are the main users of C4 in your experience? (As in: role / title).
