Hi everyone,
I'm a 35-year-old guy from the Netherlands, and I’ve been grappling with something that’s been on my mind a lot lately. I've always been prone to feeling lonely—it’s just something that's been a part of me as long as I can remember. Maybe because of that, I’ve always tried to keep people around me. I consider myself a social person, but here’s the kicker: I barely like most people, and I struggle to get along with many of them.
I don’t know why that is. Maybe I’m just not likable or maybe it’s my personality—I’ve always felt like an acquired taste. Or, maybe I tend to focus on the negatives in others and blow them out of proportion. Either way, it feels like I’m constantly at odds with myself. I crave connection, yet I’m often frustrated by the relationships I do manage to form.
This is probably why I don’t have many friends—if any. And yeah, I worry about that sometimes. Am I too late to form close friendships? Should I be part of some kind of friend group? My partner and I have always been very family-focused, and neither of us has many friends. But here’s the difference: my partner is well-liked by nearly everyone. He just doesn’t care much about having a big circle of friends. Meanwhile, I try really hard to connect with people, and most of the time, it doesn’t go anywhere. Friendships fizzle out, and I hate feeling like I’m always the one putting in all the effort just to feel… liked.
When things between my partner and me are great, I feel like I can manage this. We’re comfortable together, and we do most things as a duo. But when there’s tension or distance, my world feels so small, and I start spiraling. I’m incredibly grateful for my partner, but I also can’t help wondering why I’m wired this way. Why do I want to be social and crave connection so badly, yet not really enjoy most people? I know I can be a complicated person sometimes. And I often blame myself for fizzled out friendships or negative interactions. But I don't understand why I continue to crave connection when I sometimes think I'm just not meant to be good with people.
Is there even a word for this paradox? Feeling lonely yet disliking people at the same time?
To make things worse, chronic pain has made me withdraw a lot over the past few years. It’s been the most isolating time of my life. I used to think I had friendships, but they’ve faded too, and I get that it’s normal for friendships to change when life happens. I just don’t go out much anymore, and I think that’s also part of why I feel this way.
I’m not entirely sure what I’m hoping to achieve by posting this. I guess I’m just trying to sort through my thoughts and see if anyone out there feels the same way. Or if anyone has advice.
Do you think it’s possible to still build meaningful friendships later in life? How do you deal with loneliness when you’re naturally drawn to connection but don’t find people easy to connect with?

Hi all. I am a new grad physio in QLD. I got into a regional (fairly) hospital for contract temporary role for like 7month to replace a physio on maternity leave. With no further guarantees of keeping working in that hospital.
At the mean time I already got a job in a MSK practise full time and I quite like it.
Either I keep doing the full time MSK around the Brisbane city or drive 17hours up to a rural area hospital and work for 7 months with no future guarantee.
But I love hospital tho :(

2025.01.24 00:51 Mr_Horizon-BG PS5 Keeps shutting off
So basically my PS5 shuts off completely, no warning whatsoever. The catch? I’m playing Ghost of Tsushima Legends mode (Survival Mode if it changes anything). Every time I play for over 20-30 minutes the console shuts off completely and doesn’t want to turn on by any normal ways to turn on (like pressing the ps button on controller or pressing the power button on the console), basically it won’t power up unless the PCU cord goes back out and back in. No error codes, no history of errors in the system error logs. So I started pondering maybe there is a problem with the files, so I clear the system software cache, didn’t work. Hmm, what if my LAN cable is faulty, nope, didn’t work on wifi either, or a new LAN cable too. The only weird thing about it is that any other heavy game just like GoT (like Horizon Forbidden West, GTAO, RDR2O, CP2077 etc) runs just fine for as long as I like. Now before I realised that I thought I had a hardware problem and I was thinking maybe my PCU or something else overheats without the console picking it up and notifying me about it. However I keep thinking it’s an issue with the game itself or my system, so I might try rebuilding my system next. I’m out of ideas and I might just see have to say goodbye to Legends at this point😭

Is there like a calendar system or something I can look at to know what time specific races are at without having to launch the game up? I have been grinding the NASCAR Daytona circuit and want to know what time it is each days but each day its at a completely different time. I have tried to calculate the time for the race based on what the cycle of courses are but they seem to have some down time because it should be Daytona every 2.5hr but my script and calculations don't turn out correct.
Has anyone looked into this or know a solution?

Ijust want to let it out: I work at a private university (Opus Dei-affiliated) in the Faculty of Law. There is a transgender student I respect and I think she's nice and smart. We're not close friends, we follow each other on Instagram. On the day Donald Trump became president, she posted a photo with the caption: "A photo on this grey day to remind everyone that we exist." I liked the picture. Today, my boss called me into her office and told me I should not be liking his photos (of course, she called her "him"). She said that since I am the academic coordinator I am a role model for the law students, she even claimed that he is sick, and that I should treat him as such. She even suggested some books to help me "seek the truth" and added that young people like me need guidance because I am "lost" Among other things I don't want to remember I'm still shocked by the passive-aggressive tone and basically telling what not to do on my social media. My plan is 5.5 mm advancement at the ANS, and 9mm at the incisor midline. I’m trying to figure out what effect this will have on my face, but I can’t find anyone with these specific details on their posts. Can someone give me an idea of how that will turn out? It’s obviously CCW rotation which causes the teeth to be more far forward than the ANS.

Are they real? Of course, I know she says that it's an accessory attached to her custom earphones if you assign her to your home screen and tap her, but have you considered the possibility that she could be lying?
For starters, you never see earphones on her, but she always have the ears on, even if you straight up drag her out of the bed in the story. Of course, sprites of non-Doll characters rarely have variations other than facial expressions, but if something this essential for her overall appearance was missing, it probably would be reflected on her sprite.
Besides, she's a genius scientist who can upload a human brain into an android or create a machine doppelganger of herself. She also lives in a world where human-like robots are a common thing and they mimic real humans so well that they even have synthetic blood in synthetic veins under their synthetic skin while actual humans can have prosthetic arms that are as functional as a natural ones and even more. That means that the technology of creating synthetic tissue is available and widespread while it is also possible to attach mechanical parts to a human and have said human possess full control over them.
As such, her ears would be real in a sense that they are functional mechanical augmentations, not real in the sense that she is a catgirl by birth. As for why would she lie about them, well, perhaps she just knows that you'd rub them if you knew they are a real thing.
That is my silly theory about Persica's ears and it only exists because there have been literal years between me meeting her for the first time in-game and me seeing this quote about ears being fake.
As for why I decided to share it, I was just wondering if there are others die-hard Persica cat ears believers out there and how do you justify it to yourself that she would be the only non-Doll character with animal ears for some reason.
