2025.01.24 02:32 confused-planet Saddle valve fails to close.
My fridge ice maker has a line (similar to whats used for toilet fill) running to a saddle valve in the crawlspace. I had to close it all the way to do a flooring project. However it still has plenty of water pressure. Even now it makes ice without a long fill cycle despite having not turned it back on.
My question is, is that normal behavior for an old saddle valve? How can I add a shut off valve somewhere inline? Or should I cap it and install a new one?

I gave birth to my first baby in November 2024 and I am trying to navigate the insurance bills. Because my individual plan switched to a new plan when she was born, essentially my deductible reset and I am being charged higher out of pocket prices on both plans. Is this typical?
My hospital/delivery charges on 11/22: $3,132 total cost. I am billed $1,349 to deductible (max $1,500) and $127 to coinsurance. Total bill is $1,522. I assumed that the entire hospital stay costs would apply to the same claim, but as soon as my daughter was born, all of her costs are being applied to the new family plan with a $3,000 deductible.
On 11/23 I am billed new charges to this new plan for her costs: $3,955 total with $0 applied to deductible and $395 applied to coinsurance. I now have many other costs for all of the follow up and visits during the first week.
I didn't plan for the deductible resetting for the new plan so was caught off guard by the high medical bills. Is there anything I can do?

After 2.5 years working in equity research I've accepted a Finance Associate role at a renewable energy company. I started looking for a new job after I realized I was quickly becoming extremely depressed and spent the last 4 months looking for a new job. I've sacrificed a lot to spend time recruiting (it's rough out there) and finally landed a role paying me ~105K to be a Finance Associate. It's a pretty steep pay cut (down from 120K) and the hours will be marginally better, though there will be some long days. I'll be working on potential tack-on M&As, they're looking to get listed on the NASDAQ in about a year or so, and they're coming out of being a distressed company for the past 2 years.
I'll be reporting directly to the VP of finance, and other than the CFO, it's just me in their finance team. I'm starting to get really nervous on whether or not I made a mistake not waiting for another role to potentially come along. It could just be nerves but I'm wondering if this is a mistake? What if I want to get back to that Wall Street type of finance? What if I want to work in another industry later? Will I be able to? I feel as if I'm sort of pigeon holing myself but I'm not sure.
It seems to be a pretty highly visible role and I think I'll learn a lot so I'm excited about that. But I'm not sure if I'm going in the wrong direction. I also feel like by making this switch, I'm getting left behind peers especially as some of my friends are promoted/job hopping to getting higher roles (manager, senior associate) and higher salaries.
To sum it all up: Ahh!!
