I’ve been talking to this super cute guy. He messaged me, I saw his profile photo and was instantly hooked. He had such nice hair and he wore a Beatles t shirt which was so cute.
We ended up texting for twenty minutes and we swapped albums. I had a professionally done photo shoot of me posing in various sexy positions. I looked at the photos at his album and um all my interest was gone.
First, he shaved all his beautiful hair, like there was not a single strand left on this man’s head. He also looked wayyy older than he claimed to be on his profile. I’m not sure if it was the lighting or camera 🤷♂️He said he was 28 but I’m going through all the photos and he appears to have a lot of gray hair??? He also took photos of him in a very dirty and what appears to be cramped room with a lot of junk behind him.
Idk yall, I know that you shouldn’t judge a photo by its cover, but his album photos matched nothing like the ones he had on his profile. Like am I even talking to the same guy?? Phew, has this happened to anyone? If we’re going to hook up, I would rather have him come over to my place because his looks like a swamp tbh.  | Noticed that we had some moisture appearing on the ceiling of a couple of bedrooms and took a trip up to the attic. We’re in a 15 year old home in the midwest so we do get both cold and hot seasons. I went up today when it was about 20 degrees outside, and I will say it was warmer than I expected given the extreme cold earlier this week. Name of the game- moisture everywhere- on a lot of the underlayment, the paper, and condensation dripping from many spots. When we bought the house, I remember them noting that they had invested jn upgrading the insulation- and doing some reading around, I suspect that we have a lot of blocked soffits. There are a few baffles around (one photo shows a couple), but truly not many. My assumption is that we need to invest in a full set of baffles around the attic, but am curious if given the extent of the moisture we should suspect anything else afoot? The ridge vent runs the full length of the roof but would additional ventilation be necessary? All bathroom exhaust is properly connected up externally. There’s something you should never do on the internet: explore unknown subreddits at night, especially those obscured by algorithms and mysteriously disappearing for some strange reason. I made that mistake, and since then, I haven’t been able to sleep right.
It was an ordinary night. I was scrolling through Reddit, lost in random topics. My eyes were tired, but I didn’t want to stop. That’s when I saw the name of a subreddit that caught my attention: whispersfromthedepths. The name was sinister, but what made me click was the fact that it had practically no followers, and the oldest posts seemed to have been made months, maybe years ago.
I clicked, and a pop-up message appeared: "Welcome to the depths, where your worst doubts become reality."
I thought it was some kind of joke or a bot, so I ignored it and checked out the content. The first post was harmless: "If you were a fish, what would you do if you knew the ocean was watching you?" Some comments responded with humor, but there was a strange tone in the way the question was asked. What really disturbed me was that as I kept scrolling, the posts started to get darker. Every time I navigated deeper, the discomfort grew.
One post was in the form of a diary, recounting the experience of someone who claimed to have found a "hole in the internet," something like a dark website that connected you to the "underworld." The descriptions were vague, but the sense that something was wrong was palpable. The post said that when the person accessed the site, they began hearing whispers, as if coming from inside the screen. And those whispers wouldn’t stop until the person, too curious for their own good, had their soul taken. The post ended with a warning: "Never go down. The depths have eyes."
The chills were constant, but I was still there, clicking, scrolling further. Then, a link appeared. "Want to hear the whispers? Click here." It was an audio file. I hesitated for a moment, but curiosity won. I clicked.
At first, I heard nothing. It was a deep silence, almost as if I was hearing the void beneath water. Then, something started to change. I could hear the sound of heavy breathing, but it wasn’t mine. There were no more sounds from my environment, as if I had been transported somewhere else. That’s when the voice appeared.
"You shouldn’t have come in."
I froze. The voice was low and grave, but so clear, as if it were speaking directly in my ear. Panic took over, but something pushed me to keep listening. The voice began telling something, a story about someone who had entered a similar subreddit and was never seen again. I was compelled to go deeper, my curiosity addicted to the terror.
"Do you know where you’re going?" the voice asked. "I do. And so do you."
I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself, but something was wrong. When I looked at the scrollbar, I noticed the page had changed completely. It was no longer whispersfromthedepths. It was an empty space. And the title of the page was in bold: "The Depths Are Waiting For You."
Before I could close the tab, one last post appeared. It had been made minutes ago, and the title was direct: "You’re next."
The audio file kept playing, but the voice was now distorted, and I could hear something else. Something… moving on the other side of the screen. Something that shouldn’t be there. I quickly stood up, knocking my laptop to the floor. The screen flickered, and I heard a sound, like a growl, followed by a muffled scream. When I tried turning it back on, nothing happened.
The subreddit disappeared. The page was gone. I searched for it, searched until my browser crashed. I couldn’t find anything. Nothing, except for a black-and-white image of a vast ocean. And in the middle of it, something that seemed to be watching me, unrelenting.
I thought it had just been a story, a joke. But since that night, I feel like I’m being watched, as if something from the depths is always following me. And every time I go online, I wonder: will someone find me in that subreddit, or have I already become part of it, somewhere I can’t even access?
