I teach high school math and use VR in my classroom with the PrismsVR headsets. What I've been wondering and I'm not having any luck finding is if anyone is making classroom experiences in VR? I'm talking about using our experiences from teaching remotely on zoom during the pandemic and doing it in VR instead where it could feel like an immersive experience of being in a classroom, moving around a school between classes, maybe even a VR lunch room, etc. The current climate in the US is people not wanting to pay taxes, cities facing budget cuts and not being able to afford building upkeep, and massive attendance issues.

"Grab your dicks if you're in the 306" are pretty unlikely life-changing words, but for Melissa, Doug and Mischa, they were. Ever since his arrival, Melissa had felt herself imprisoned in a vortex of shame, anger, pain and sadness. She watched as Zombie Melissa cleaned the house, went to work, and left food at top of the basement steps for this teenager who had arrived in place of the baby she'd spent 15 years and all her money trying for. Sometimes she was horrified. Mostly, she didn't feel anything.
Zombie Melissa did laundry when Mischa wasn't home. But that night, Zombie Melissa fucked up and heard Mischa working on his rap music from the old office he'd moved into. She dropped the basket. On autopilot, she went over to the other corner of the basement. She got out the boxes of zines she'd made as teen in the 90s, one with a comic of a rapper who used "Grab your dicks if you're in the 306" as a tagline. She spent the entire night doing something she hadn't done in all the years of tests, miscarriages, injections, pills, sonograms, travel, failure, research, loan applications, home studies, fire inspections and more: she cried. All night long.
In the morning, Melissa was reborn. She heard her own voice, saying this was a crisis and she needed help. She, Doug and Mischa went for more therapy that she imagined possible. Individual therapy to help her and Doug process their infertility journeys and for Mischa to deal with the death of his mother and the loss of his life in Ukraine. Marriage counseling for her and Doug. And family therapy for all of them. It took time, but slowly and surely, they became one.
Mischa rejected their offer to move upstairs, but bonded with Doug in fixing up hia basement space. Melissa bonded with him over music and creating. Guided carefully by their therapist, they sat Mischa down and told him that they loved having him there and considered him their son, but that good parents supported their children's goals and dreams, and that he was welcome to stay with them in Uranium as long as he wanted, but if he chose to return to Ukraine, they would help.
It took a while. Mischa got Noel's old job at the Taco Bell to earn money. When Melissa and Doug won triple damages from the adoption agency, they gave part of the money to Mischa. He moved to Ukraine and settled near Talia.
One of life's most painful lessons is that love and attraction do not, in fact, conquer all, and Talia and Mischa taught that to one another over the next 18 months. Mischa's more outgoing nature and admiration for traditional Ukrainian culture clashed with the introversion and interest in all things Western that led Talia to a lengthy online relationship with a YouTube rapper. When they broke up, Mischa had decided to become a music teacher, because of the importance of chamber choir in his own life.
He got into university easily (he had had the highest SAT scores at St. Cassian's, much to Ocean's chagrin). He dated a little bit and took a position in his hometown of Odessa. During one of the prep days for the coming year, there was a knock on his classroom door.
There was a woman more beautiful than Talia or the former prime minister. Her name was Oksana and she was a speech language pathologist at the school. She wanted to talk to him about an idea she had to work together. They met for coffee that evening, and several after. The talk quickly turned from work to their lives. Soon, they were spending nearly every moment outside of work together, going to festivals, to dinner, watching movies, and working on their method.
Two years later, they had a big traditional wedding. Noel, who Mischa had kept in touch with online, came over from Paris. Doug and Melissa traveled from Uranium and were going on to Romania to adopt a 4 year old. Father Markus sent his regrets.
Life waa good for Mischa and Oksana. They settled down and continued teaching. They had a son, and then a daughter. Oksana left her position to promote what she and Mischa called The Odessa Method to help children with speech difficulties through music. Mischa thought things would continue that way forever.
Then came February 24, 2022, when Russia invaded Ukraine.
