Considering a career as a mechanic. Ive been working office jobs for the past 7+ years and I’m over it. I’ve been working on cars for a little over 10 years now. I do all my own maintenance and repairs. I would say on a scale of 1-10 I’m at a 6.5. I’m pretty good at diagnosing an issue and fixing it, I’ve done pretty much everything under the hood except things as major as pulling a motor or transmission. I would have some things to learn, but I’m not starting anywhere close to zero on knowledge, and I think my experience and knowledge of how a car works would make me a great shoe in.
How did you get started? Do I need and type of certificates to get a job as a mechanic? Did or do you make good money?

Been prescribed Protopic 0.1% ointment for my face eczema after using desonide for two weeks. This is my 2nd day/night applying it twice a day, daily. Was wondering if I should use my moisturizer cream (Complex 15 Daily Face Cream) before or after the protopic?
It says online and in the packaging to wait two hours AFTER applying the protopic to moisturize, but even after waiting two hours, when I moisturize, the protopic ointment doesn't feel like it has been fully absorbed, and it feels like I'm spreading it around other spots in my face when I moisturize.
With desonide, I'd usually apply the steroid cream first. I'd wait 10-15 mins before moisturizing, and it'd feel fine. Was just wondering what everyone else does.
Also how long did it take yall to see results from the protopic? It's only been two days for me, and I've been dealing with the classic side effects (redness, slight burning).

Can't seem to turn off auto detect peak brightness, anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Tried turning HDR off, tried it with HDR on. Also wanna lower the peak brightness, played a night map and the lamps and such were like mini flashbangs, friend suggested lowering peak brightness but I can't?

I have a female German shepherd pitbull mix dog, my best estimate of her age is 10 months or so, and I had noticed a small bit of irregular discharge so I took her to the vet today. She was diagnosed with pyometra and given injections of both Cefazolin and Rimadyl, as well as cephalexin and carprofen to start her on tomorrow. She is eating fine and appears to be acting pretty normal except she's slightly less active than usual. The vet said she has a fever, but the appointment they scheduled for a spay is 7 days away. Given her current state and the medication she's on, should she be fine until her surgery or is that a concerning amount of time to wait? I think we caught it pretty early and again she seems to be doing ok physically at the moment but I'm kind of concerned about how she'll hold up for the next 7 days. I will be keeping a close eye on her but any advice is greatly appreciated.

I'm a 40-year-old freelancescreenwriter in Hollywood who has made a living for 10+ years working in television and doing small PR jobs. I've had some great years where I made a substantial income (300+k) and then other years where I've made only a few thousand dollars. Now as my industry remains in a prolonged contraction, I'm looking for something more stable but I'm lost on what to try next.
SKILLS:
I have useful skills but my resume looks crazy because it's all freelance gigs ranging from "Wrote ad copy for the DMV" to "Sold a television pilot to HBO."
Skills wise I've done computer programming since I was a child. I think I have a good mind for it and I've always enjoyed making little apps and websites for myself (familiar with Rust, Node/JS/Typescript, Swift, etc). I love learning about new technologies and apps. But I don't have a CS degree and only one job in ten years has involved programming, so it feels hard to break in when I'm competing with people 15 years younger with the proper degrees.
I have some IT/technical back-end skills as I've always run my own servers, but again no degree or certifications or job experience.
I consider my writing skills top-notch and would be happy to use them in another career, but I don't want to just slide from one unstable shrinking industry into another one. I want to find something that I could spend the last 25 years of my working life focused on.
EXPERIENCE:
I've technically worked for many giant corporations you've heard of, but as a freelancer. I've written for several television series. I've done branded content like scripted podcasts and copywriting for press releases (though I don't have "agency experience"). I've written for a theme park attraction.
EMOTIONAL STUFF:
My writing career, when it's been lucrative, has been my dream career. It's the one I wanted since I was a kid. So while I'm prepared to accept it's probably over and get a more regular job, I don't actually have a strong instinct of "Ah yes, that's what I SHOULD be doing instead of my dream." Grieving is definitely part of this.
QUESTIONS:
Do my skills suggest any career paths? And if so, are there next steps you'd recommend? I don't mind getting certified in something but I wouldn't want to start a long degree path at my age unless there was a very obvious payoff.
