TL;DR: I’m looking for an experience in Japan, ideally at a temple or monastery, where I can reflect, live more mindfully, and contribute through work. I am willing to pay, though I’d prefer if my work could help offset part of the cost. Any tips or personal experiences are greatly appreciated!
My current situation:
Right now, I'm feeling a lot of pressure from the demands of everyday life and the sense of being stuck in a loop. Also I am feeling like the constant media and advertisement overload is really starting to leave a toll on me. I wish to step back and escape from this for some time.
Since I have a deep love for Japan, its culture, and its history, I thought about going to a japanese monastery or temple for some time. When I travelled Japan in 2024 one of the most impactful experiences I’ve had was staying at a temple in Kōya. Also I saw a video on Youtube about a guy living with shaolin monks in China for a few months. Both of these experiences probably contributed to this idea.
Here’s what I have in mind:
- A stay at a temple or monastery for 3 to 6 months.
- A place where I can not only reflect but also engage in physical work (e.g., gardening, renovation, cooking). I want to experience the authentic daily life there.
- Ideally, someone like a mentor or teacher to guide me on this journey (living more consciously and mindfully, gaining new perspectives on life).
- I’m, of course, willing to pay for the stay, but I’d prefer if part of the cost could be offset by my contribution and work.
- If a longer stay isn’t possible, I could also imagine doing a pilgrimage as an alternative.
My question:
Does anyone know how to organize something like this? Maybe personal contacts or contacts of temples that could help me with planning? Or has anyone done something similar and could share their experiences?
I’d be incredibly grateful for any tips and advice!

I was playing with a full server. The girl and her cousin had been yelling/raging earlier when they lost. When I became the beast on Homestead I was looking around for people, chasing people. But I had not captured everyone yet. When the girl in the video had failed a computer, I came to see if she still was. She was indeed there. So then I hit her when she tried to hide behind the beds in the tan house. I then asked If she thought I was stupid in a joking manner. (I do think I did come off a bit rude and I'm sorry for that.) I captured her and her cousin but both were saved and everyone escaped. When we were in the lobby she "reported" and I replied "For what?" "Playing the game?" she answered "For racism and harassment" I asked her how I was being racist. She then said that I was only targeting people with darker skin tones, I defended myself saying that the majority (3) of the server had a darker skin tone, me and the other person had plain white skin tones. (She was a level 111 and was pretty good. She also left before the video.) They then accused me of saying N word. At that point I was done with this fight and left.

These past few months I’ve just been feeling so alone. I’m 21 and spend a good amount of my free time gaming. It just seems so hard to make friends online now, me and my friends used to have a large gaming group but over the years most of us went our separate ways. I really try my best to be friendly with people I meet on games but they just usually tell me to go fuck myself, or just start fighting with me for no reason and tbh it just makes me feel worse. Idk what it is but it just seems so hard to find community and genuine people to hop on call with and just have fun.

Hello, finally had a chance today to go down and get some albums, and when I tried to play the first one, I followed what I saw in videos and such, it played music for a few second and boom, a pop, a few more seconds, and again, tried another record I got, this one brand new just to see if maybe I got a defective one, and boom another pop, I have cleaning supplies on the way, and can get some distilled water in the morning and give that a go but other than that any other things to try?

So I (30f- 290lbs) slipped down approx 4 steps a week ago. I landed on my bum so hard that I think I winded myself as I found it hard to breathe for 5-10 minutes. I had pretty extreme pain on the right lower side of my back and right in the middle of the back. Quite frankly it felt like my spine had jolted upwards whilst the rest of my body slammed down.
Anyways, I managed to get up and seemed to be relatively ok for the most part. I had pain but it was manageable. I took ibuprofen and rested for 2 days.
Anyways, it’s been mostly ok pain wise for the last week. Nothing too serious and I’ve been able to carry on with my usual day to day tasks however last night the pain started to flare up in the middle of my back.
When I’m laying down the pain is pretty bad in my back and when I breathe it feels like It’s in a state of spasm. It does seem to improve when I stand up but I’m in a considerable amount of pain compared to the last week.
Just wondering if this is likely to be just muscle pain from it being strained and will go away on its own or if it’s worth seeing my GP?
