2025.01.24 17:30 Financial-Stick-8500 Weatherford New Contracts And Updates On Its $140M Investor Settlement
Hey guys, if you missed it, Weatherford recently announced two contracts in the Middle East, with Kuwait Oil Company and a National Oil Company in Qatar. The goal is to reinforce its position as a trusted partner in the Middle East. Hopefully, this will help them leave behind some financial issues they had in the past.
As you might remember, a few years ago, it was revealed that between 2007 and 2012, Weatherford made fake financial statements that gave them $900M+ in profits. After this news, the investors obviously sued them for this and the losses it caused.
Last year, Weatherford finally decided to settle and pay them $140M for their losses. And the good news is that even though the deadline has passed, they’re still accepting late claims. So, if someone's late, you can check the details and file for it.
Now, we have to wait one more week to see its latest results and 2025 projections. We’ll see how that goes.

I am a prospective federal employee (great timing, I know) and was curious about the reach of executive orders on other benefits. In particular, I'm curious if the President can simply reduce or eliminate sick and/or vacation leave for federal employees by directing OPM to revise the accrual rates tables?
Similarly, does anyone know the legal limits placed on the President/OPM on reducing other benefits like increasing insurance premiums, not paying for half of social security contribution, FERS, TSP, etc.
Having a higher amount of vacation is a big part of my desire to work for the federal government to have better work-life balance. Similarly, the retirement plan for the feds seems to be very good, but if they take the pension away and reduce or eliminate the matching contribution it would have a massive impact on everyone's "total compensation."

 | I’m aware most of this sub is full of idiocy but I happen to have the benefit of the doubt that this will reach the minds it’s intended for. The revolution that’s needed will be an uphill battle like none other due to the amount of willing ignorance, the lack of empathy and compassion, & the blind dedication to this system that people seem to have in these times. All of us have phones and internet access with unlimited information yet we live in a day and age where misinformation and ignorance is everywhere . The revolution needed could quite possibly be against two groups. The US GOVERNMENT & those that currently support it without question. I want those who follow it blindly to understand though. YOUR NOT MY ENEMY. Unless you choose to be. The cycle of suffering is not going to stop. I didn’t vote in the past election for this very reason. 12 years from now two presidents will be having a debate about the same issues in a different context and the public will be baited into an emotional response by the news, propaganda, and different social media outlets. There are enough resources for everyone to have a home, eat everyday, be clothed, & have convenient transportation. Some successful revolutions : The Arab Spring (2010-2012) Overthrew years of dictators in Tunisia & Egypt. Civil Rights Movement (1950-1960) This fight led to a Supreme Court decision that segregation was unconstitutional. Zapatista Uprising Mexico (1994- Present) They’re fight has led to amazing strides within their indigenous community and recognized on a global level. It can happen. We can do it. We don’t have to live a way they tell us. We don’t have to be grateful for the crumbs and told to look at another country that has to lick the bowl.
